Re: PS5 Pro Pockets a Native 8K, 60fps Game

JonnyMack

@Neither_scene Perhaps read the article? Players have both options

"According to developer Ripstone, the release will run at 60fps in native 8K, with no upscalers like PSSR used. The base PS5, meanwhile, will run at 120fps in native 4K."

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give The First Descendant?

JonnyMack

If it is difficult to give a review of a live service game perhaps you should not give a score. Give a review and say you will come back and re-review and score in a few months.
Metacritic will forever say this is a 3 from PS, and its not is it? a 3 is a very low score given to exceptionally poor or broken games. Games reviews are exceptionally divisional these days. Someones 9 is another persons 4 - Excuse? Oh its just an opinion...no its not, its fundamentally wrong way of scoring from an official publication. There is some wiggle room for someone enjoying something more than someone else, but such a disparity in scores is ridiculous. I enjoyed this game until a point, then i realised it is not for me, in the same way as other LS games are not for me, but it is very well made with some nice production values. I'd say it is a 5 or 6 for my personal tastes, but those into these types of games its an 8. Perhaps reviewers are best suited to reviewing the genres they like. I mean if you hate driving games then your opinion on one would be worthless.

Just goes to show, the opinion of the comments here in no way reflects reality. otherwise they wouldn't be sold out everywhere and I'd be able to pick one up for my daughter"

Re: Callisto Protocol's Glen Schofield Announces Departure from Striking Distance Studios

I think to open a studio in 2019 and release a game of that visual quality in 2022 is an outstanding feat. Even with that huge budget.
Currently playing, and I have loved and hated this game. Visually it is absolutely fabulous, atmospheric AF. Gameplay wise it is fairly basic, which I don't mind that much. What I do mind are these impossible difficulty spikes. It felt like it needed a few rounds of user testing before release. I think it would have done better had it not been for the DS remake which i still need to pick up.

Re: Analyst: Gamers Are Overreacting Over Star Wars, Publishers Should Increase Prices

JonnyMack

I used to pay between 40-60 quid for megadrive games 25 years ago. And back then games were not heavily discounted after a fortnight.

Games are bigger and more detailed than ever. Some have complex online modes which have expensive running costs. Gamers now have more choice than ever when it comes to choice of purchase when it comes to looking for cheaper deals. Personally I think gamers have never been more informed or have had more choice about the games they play.

Try buying a pint of lager for the price it was 25 years ago

Re: Poll: Is The Last of Us: Part II's New Trailer Too Much?

JonnyMack

@Kidfried sexualised? You need to see a doctor, you are clearly seeing things that are not there.
Context? It's the apocalypse, people are horrid to each other in the apocalypse. See also the walking dead, and a million other movies. Feel free to call it unoriginal if anything.

Yes two women were being subject to torture and death, but you fail to mention the dead men already lynched?
Finally the only people who died in the trailer were two men and the woman seemingly in charge.
Where you saw it as an attack on women, I saw it as a compelling trailer with tension, violence, and a sense of relief that the (hopefully) good guys won out.

I saw characters, potentially interesting characters... Not genders....but that's just me.
