Side-story Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will release on 22nd August for $39.99 in North America and 23rd August for £34.99 in the UK, developer Naughty Dog has announced. The game – which stars fan-favourite Chloe Frazer in the lead role as she embarks on an Indian adventure with mercenary Nadine Ross – won't cost you a penny if you previously plumped up for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's Season Pass, which is pretty nice.
Don't worry if you didn't, though, because pre-ordering the adventure at participating retailers will secure you a free copy of PlayStation 2 classic Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, which is coming to the PlayStation 4 as part of Sony's emulation program. If you pre-order on the PlayStation Store, you'll also get a free dynamic theme to sweeten the deal.
Here's a new scene starring Chloe and Nadine, as they attempt to uncover the Tusk of Ganesh:

YES!
Nice. Good to finally have a release date for this.
Do you not think 35 quid is a bit steep? Have they said how long the game is meant to be?
Wow, $39.99, didn't see that coming. Great for those who bought the season pass or other options - Digital Deluxe Edition, Explorer’s Pack, or the Triple Pack.
U4 came included w/ my PS4 Slim which I got on sale for $218, so don't see myself spending $40 on this. I suppose August means $19.99 by Christmas, I'll wait.
And as much as I love Jak & Daxter, still my all time favorite game, I just played it again on PS3 to get the platinum, so a PS2 version - which of course I also own - on the PS4 isn't exactly an incentive for me. Nor is a theme, the Tearaway Unfolded theme is just too cute.
For $39.99 this should be it's own game on disc. They never even said in the announcement if you need U4 to play it. They do keep saying they are treating it as a "true game" so I guess stand alone and on disc.
OH it's getting a physical release, i didn't know that also i'm not bothered by a free theme, not when you can have custom backgrounds now
Interesting choice of trailer, too.
Hmmm, what retailers will support the pre-order for physical so I get Jak and D?
@imtom2002 Longer than The Last of Us: Left Behind and shorter than Uncharted 4. Worth mentioning that £35 is the RRP, I imagine it'll be closer to £29.99 if you buy from Amazon.
@Rudy_Manchego "Participating" retailers is all we know at the moment.
@Rudy_Manchego In America probably Gamestop and the UK Game.
@imtom2002 As far as I know, it's not as long as a main Uncharted adventure, but it's a fair bit longer than The Last of Us' side story, Left Behind.
I'd say the price is about on par with my expectations. They could've realistically charged full price for this, and it would still sell, because it's Uncharted.
Looking forward to this, though not sure if I'll pick it up straight away. August seems like a good time to release, as well. PS4 has been getting a really nice, constant stream of quality games this year
@rjejr They've been saying stanalone ever since PSX.
You can tell from the media that's been released so far that this is a "proper" Uncharted story. It might not be as long as the main games (and I assume there'll be no multiplayer) but it's clear from that new cut-scene that this is a proper game.
Happy birthday to me (22 August). Will treat myself to this once I know where I can also get jack and daxter
@get2sammyb Wasn't it said recently that the MP is part of it too?
I wonder if this will be more action and less platforming. I'd love an Uncharted without all the climbing/platforming.
I wish it was Jak and Daxter 2
@AFCC They already made that. It sucks.
Looks hype! I'll definitely get it, but it sucks that it comes out right when the Fall semester starts.
@get2sammyb i'm still hoping for one where you play as Drakes adult daughter
Is the Uncharted 4 Triple pack the season pass?
@B-I-G-DEVIL Yes!
@get2sammyb WOOOO haha
@get2sammyb So I'm ALMOST certain I purchased UC4 with the Triple/Mega/Whatever pack. Is there anyway I can check whether I'm entitled to this or not?
I'm not a multiplayer guy so I haven't been keeping up with the season pass updates.
Nahhhhhh!
@Fight_Teza_Fight You'll have to look through your purchase history.
@NathanUC Funny that cos I would prefer the opposite.
@get2sammyb what sucks? The game or the port?
@adf86 I always feel like the climbing/platforming aspects of games are just fluff/filler. Other than inFAMOUS Second Son, climbing stuff just feels like a chore to me. To each their own though! At least it looks pretty in Uncharted
In terms of spoilers. When is this set? I've not finished UC4's story yet so I'm thinking I'll probably have to do that first before touching this.
@daveofduncan I believe it's after the events of Uncharted 4.
OUCH!!!! I was expecting maybe £20 at most! Of course its difficult to assess our much a stand-alone DLC should cost but I would expect a Uncharted 4 sized campaign or more for that much. Take off the MP of U4 for example and then we are in that price point as far as I am concerned. When you look at games like Wolfenstein: the Old Blood - which also had a physical release cost £15 and the Infamous: First Light too - even SR4: Gat out of Hell was in that area price wise too.
I couldn't care less about Jak and Daxter being part of this deal either.
Just hope it either merits that price point or Might actually be cheaper to buy the Season Pass - Probably get more content I am likely to use...
@imtom2002 its over 10 hours.
Glad we've got a release date, looking forwards to playing it.
Looks like I'll be preordering then. Not only does this look good, but getting Jak for free is a great bonus.
what a price! i mean hay come on this is not a new game is it?!
anyway cant wait to play it
but its not a good deal to pay 40$ just for a DLC
@adf86 You know what, I think you're right. I think somehow my brain never put the words "stand alone" and "you don't need U4" together for some reason. I think my brain translated "stand alone" as "this story doesn't tie into Uncharted, Drake isn't in it, it's Nadine and Chloé alone". Your way makes more sense though.
I would have pre-ordered if it was like 20 bucks. But for this price, I will go for the physical copy.
Definitely looking forward to this. It seems to be much more than I was initially expecting.
I think people are a bit confused in here, so let me try to break things down:
Uncharted 4 launched with a Season Pass which promised single player DLC for the game.
That single player DLC ended up turning into a full game, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
Those people who already bought the Season Pass are still getting The Lost Legacy as a gesture of goodwill, even though the game costs more than the Season Pass did.
This isn't DLC anymore: it's a full, standalone game. Naughty Dog has said that it's longer than The Last of Us: Left Behind but shorter than Uncharted 4.
You should expect: an entire new story arc with set-pieces, combat encounters, cut-scenes, and everything that makes an Uncharted game an Uncharted game.
Hopefully that clears things up.
More uncharted is always good, will buy this day one. Also slow down 2017 lol.
Are there special edition or at least steelcase version of this, already bought special edition of uncharted collection and uncharted 4, might get this as well. If not I will buy this digital.
@wiiware Nothing announced, just the standard retail release or digital.
@NathanUC I was kinda more looking at it as been more story driven and puzzles and less action.
@get2sammyb - you should probably mention that it's not possible to buy the season pass any more, in case people think it's just cheaper now to buy that and you get some extra mp items thrown in.
i'd kind of expected it to be £19.99, or £24.99 tops. i know it's longer than left behind, but that launched at £11.99. i dunno.. it'd need to be 8-10 hours long at that price. i've pre-ordered the blu-ray edition at shopto for £26 (though they list the RRP as £30 not £35).
You've got to love Naughty Dog cutscenes. Chloe looks so different in this, though.
@get2sammyb Turns out I do have it. Won't let me preorder on the PlayStation store.
'You are not able to purchase this product for the following reason(s):
You already own:
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Triple Pack Expansion'
Thank you past me & thank you GAME employee for making me buy it. £20 investment paying back BIG TIME!!
I hope the game doesn't dissolve into what price the game should be, the chances are this is going to be just as long as the first Uncharted and people paid full price for that.
Left behind took about 3 hours total to beat. It was WAY overpriced on release. I mean, 12 quid is about the same as blood and wine which is huge. So for 35 quid this had better be longer than Left Behind! Sorry but no. I'll probably play this once so I'm not paying that. I'll wait for a sale. Robbing [email protected]$%€#s
So can we buy UC4 now and get it, the new game AND Jax?
@Mega-Gazz How do you mean?
@THRILLHOU Ehhhh. I'll never understand this, it's quality over quantity for me.
I feel like so many games end up worse because of their pursuit for more and more content, Mass Effect: Andromeda being a recent example.
@THRILLHOU Except if anything Blood and wine was probably under charged if anything. Besides there different games so it isn't a fair comparison.
@get2sammyb Far too many people equate 1 hour to £1 which is ridiculous cos games like Uncharted 4 would cost 15 quid then while The Witcher 3 would be around 90. The argument doesn't wash anymore.
@get2sammyb yeah but just because a large game sucks doesn't mean a smaller one should be overpriced. If this was another franchise then the price would be 20 quid, tops. The only exception I can think of is The Taken King, which was a sequel in all but name. Even then, that was overpriced. This is just greed on Sony's part.
@THRILLHOU You simply don't know that. If review code comes in and it's a shoddy two hour short story, then I'll happily slap a bad score on it. But do you really believe that's what it's going to be?
@hadlee73 I've seen that mooted as well. Hmmm. I'd obviously have to reserve judgement to see how it's handled if they did go that way, but I personally hope they don't.
While it's great to have more gay (or, in Chloe's case, I assume it would be bi) characters in games, I think I'd rather this be about two hard as nails ladies on the rob.
@get2sammyb That's too bad, well digital it is.
@get2sammyb @adf86 Thanks - I will keep an eye out.
I've said it before but ND are one of the developers I would break my no-preorder rule.
Actually, I say rule, more like a guideline as I pre-ordered the PSVR, Horzion and MK8 on Switch. Maybe a personal boundary.
@get2sammyb no not at all. I reckon it'll clock in at around four hours or so. Six, maximum. I also reckon that the game itself will be excellent. The blog post just has that same feel as when MGS Ground Zeroes came out. It's being hyped as a full game when it isnt.
@get2sammyb Is the Jak And Daxter copy a physical released disc, or just a download code?
@JLPick Download code.
@get2sammyb you said that if you bought Uncharted 4 and the season pass, you'd get the lost legacy for free, plus Jax + daxter as a bonus, right? So if I go now and buy Uncharted 4 and the DLC do I get all 3?
@Mega-Gazz I'm almost certain you can no longer buy the Triple Pack (£20 at the time) which comes with Lost Legacy. I think it was replaced with the Adventurer's pack.
They only promised a story mode dlc at first, which was part of the triple pack. Since then the dlc became much bigger and has now become a standalone game/expansion. The people that bought the Triple pack at launch will now be getting this instead.
