The problem with Helldivers 2 is probably simple. The hardcore players are likely your smaller player base whereas the casual players, you know, those who work, have families, have other priorities other than playing games ALL the time are likely the biggest audience. They probably have around 1 to 3 hours daily to game and if you make progression too hard they'll lose interest and move on. Provide for the many NOT the few. Put a higher difficulty in for hardcore but don't punish your main audience by lowering the XP and progress gains. Plus make the game solo-able with bots.
The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few.
The controller looks nice. I'd get one . As far as the concord game goes, everything I've seen of it since the reveal trailer is as generic and woke as you can possibly get. Add the overall dullness of the game and this has DOA written all over it.
All that money blown on an agenda driven game.
Every decision maker involved in supporting this agenda driven rubbish game deserves to get fired and never be allowed to work in a position responsibility ever again.
As for the devs...folks just take the money whilst you can and bail out before you get pushed !
Just give me a similar difficulty to Ghost of Tushima and I'll be happy. I'll wait for the metacritic reviews from real players instead of feckless reviewers before buying!
A physical release would be nice. But cheap. Other than that I can wait until it's going VERY cheap before bothering with a digital edition...like. £5-£7 cheap.
I was very disappointed with the recent upscaled version of dark forces . Maybe the truth of it is that it just wasn't a very good game to begin with ? The two sequels were better I seem to remember. Anyway...I got it refunded. A remaster has to be really special to ask £25 for decades old gameplay that DOES NOT STAND UP WELL. There are vastly superior megadrive and snes games that are still worth their price today!
For me the best FF combat system was FF12. I'd like to see a new FF game go back to the team format with multiple characters to choose from but use FF12s elegantly designed combat system.
I find this convenient statistic a little hard to swallow. I think this is more likely some organisations feeding this data to media outlets to encourage a shift in thinking , trying to force people into accepting digital only.
That statistic MAY be relevant to your very casual gamer who only plays the annual boring sports game or call of duty but there are far too many retail outlets online that sell physical games for this to be an accurate representation of the true numbers. The speed they deliver physical games to me and my physical game collecting friends seems to indicate they hold immediately available stock to send to any customer.
I think it's a deliberate effort on behalf of all parties involved ( Sony, Ninty and MS) to move you, the gamer, away from digital with stories like this. The trouble is people who buy digital as their main source of games are fooling themselves if they think what they are doing is anything but medium term rental with no guarantee of longevity. Buy physical folks. You won't realise what you've lost until it's gone. You stick with digital you're either doing it by blind loyalty, total ignorance of the truth or worse just plain stupidity. Think about it ...why ARE the companies pushing digital so hard ? Are these companies your friends ? The answer to that is simple ...no they are not....you are a profit margin on their spreadsheet nothing more. Do not delude yourselves any further.
I've written about it before and I'll do so again.
Reset the series entirely. Give the new Assassins Creed series a third word in its title.
First new scenario :- WW2. British naval vessel on a spy mission in the north sea. Ship is hunted and sunk by a wolfpack. Lots of the crew are captured. Early on whilst in captivity you as the ship's captain reveal to the crew this truly was a spy mission and as such you are all spies and not subject to the Geneva convention for the treatment of captives. You have to escape, steal a new model of U-boat and get home.
You do so but also find intel that many members of your crew are scattered throughout Europe. You get back to the UK with the new sub. The Navy realises it may be strength to have a crew written off as dead or MIA in their new cruiser crew with the new stolen sub as a constant escort . This decision is encouraged by a high ranking admiral who inducts you into the Illuminati. Thus your
WW 2 sea faring creed adventure begins. Take over bases, invade inland to rescue crew members and hunt the wolf packs all the while working out who the head of the European branch on the Templars is.....not Hitler....but Stalin.
Of course they're actually waiting to release both games nearer the launch of the upcoming competitor title. I would imagine both Suikoden games are working just fine already. But there ya go. Gives us all time to enjoy all the other great games coming out between now and then.
Sadly this game felt like a "wait for a big price drop" to me right from the start. Now it reviews as "wait for a big price drop " as well. Another good review that reflects comments by others. Thankyou .
A nice concise review. It reads as a buy when cheaper (£20) which is what I did with Forspoken. That is a great game when it only sets you back £20. Thanks for the review.
Now we need the excellent Nightdive update of Blood on consoles, then they should work on Blood 2 and Shogo. Then Requiem and Killing Time by 3D0 studios .
And for god's sake release them all physical on regular retail not through bloody limited immensely slow and hugely expensive run games !
Why would they do that? Are there lots if Arabic speaking players ? Also why is this news ..? Is there anEnglish language option ? And is there french, German, Dutch etc etc ? Isn't different languages a thing in most games ? I suppose the real question is....isn't this a non story?
I can wait for a cheaper price. Same with Armoured Core . I'm not convinced about it's "fun" levels. Starfield looks like the safest bet and even then I'll try it on gamepass before buying a copy of the vanilla version. ( Starfields constellation edition is utter tat and there is no physical game with it for that outrageous price. ) Still I can see Bethesda's point here....never give a sucker and even break.
I'm hoping it's going to be similar to AC Odyssey which was the last good AC game. Valhalla was a Viking simulator which was fun, just squeezed into an AC game
With regard ff16 . It's not a bad game. I bought it day one out of brand loyalty. But what I don't get is arguably Squenix designed the PERFECT combat system with ff12 ( the gambit system) or the ATB style of ff13 and the class system that you juggled throughout a fight. I think 16 should have been built around one of those combat systems. Ff16 isn't doing "it" for me ( whatever "it" is) and I can safely say that considering the mediocre sales this will probably be the last FF game I spend my money on. There's too much great stuff out there for a final fantasy game to just be....**shudder**...."ok".
So either bring back full turnbased, or the combat styles of 12 or 13 or theresno sale for the next FF game for me. If this is FFs future....it's bleak.
I'll get it out there. I still prefer turn based OR the absolutely incredible gambit system in FF12.
Now that's said, I don't think anyone can deny a slow start in game for FF16 but now I'm running around grinding wind beasts and soldiers for xp and skill points it's taking on a unique lease of life for me. There appears to be a big whirlwind on the far side of the forest I'm in....
What on earth could that be?....I'm off to find out...laters all...
The only game there of any interest is dragon's dogma 2. You would have thought they would be flexing their IPs all over the place really but apart from the above game it's dull city . Screw multiplayer / gaas games.
@OrtadragoonX Of course the other big deal with pc is that if you choose to you would never have to buy a game ever again. Not that I condone such behaviour.
The trouble with D4 wete the levels given to us to play during the 3 weekends worth of server tests were very dull PLUS the game is online only which sucks and in truth I personally wanted the game to be more like Diablo 3. From what I've seen it's more like Diablo 2 ( boring). I've now read that the NDA was dropped on march 30th and the people who have had extended early access are saying it does play like D3 at end game. I'm not so sure. So for now D4 is well off the purchase list.
The new street fighter appears to be an RPG lite this time around so that might be worth looking at when it's going cheaper (£20).
The real champion of this month is FF16. It looks stunning,it's single player and you can be offline to play it. That's my game of interest this month. A day one purchase for me.
The showcase was just ok. There were some good single player titles hidden in there. None of the good titles were that multiplayer ***** . What a painful waste of Helldivers. I thought it was going to be a starship troopers tie in and a nice single player campaign but no, more multiplayer dross to disappear down the drain with the rest of the multiplayer waste probably right after that doomed for failure splatoon rip off and that awful heist game. They'll be closely followed by all that VR stuff.
I'll hold out for the handful of potentially good single player titles. Heres hoping they're good !
I think the main question here is who the hell thought making a game about Gollum would (1) Be any good ? (2) Be of interest to anyone ? This game has been in development for ages. It sounded like sh*t when it was announced and held absolutely no interest for or from anyone . if you WERE interested in this game please slap yourself hard around the face and then get a grip you chuffing loser.
So the upshot of this is crap game ends up being crap ? DUH !
There were far too many multiplayer games revealed last night. Imagine how good Helldivers could have been if it had gone single player.
Two of the other multiplayer games had instant fail written all over them. One was a team heist game and the other a Splatoon rip off. Both of them looked truly awful and destined for the scrap heap. Tragic politically correct bargain bin fodder.
There were a few games that were of any interest. The aveum game, FF16, the metal gears and a couple of other action rpgs were about it for me. The Spiderman game also looked good but would be a "wait for it to be on sale" as far as I'm concerned.
As for the hardware reveals you can bet both the handheld console and the earbuds will be in the premium price range as like the utterly pointless VR kit they'll have very limited appeal.
Hardware wise the rumoured new model of PS5 console with optional disc drive attachment would have been of far more interest.
Not a great showing by Sony. Where was the confirmed release date for the Suikoden remasters? Or Eiyuden Chronicles ?
The thing is you know this game is completed and is sitting in 1000s upon 1000s of game boxes in warehouses across the planet.....but we can't play it yet !!!
I think it's a shame people have lost their jobs. As far as the game goes I have no idea what it was. But from my POV if it was a decent single player game with optional co-op I would have been interested but anything that's online only or forces multiplayer? No thanks.
Luckily neither design is very good. They seem like simple geometric patterns and seem to have no indication towards the game itself.
Now if it had been some of that beautiful logo art ( the pencil like drawings of characters) that would have been something, especially if it had been on both sides of the console covers and covering the entire surface that would have been great...but these items don't. In fact they're a bit rubbish. Nothing to see here, move on.
It's a shame it did bankrupt them all. I just hope they lose out from now on. Tossers.
Thankfully there were some great groups I joined that enabled me to get consoles for myself, some family members and 2 friends over a course of a 6 month period. Thanks to all that those groups. We beat the scalpers in the end !
A couple of things they could do to seriously improve the game.
Stop weapons from breaking. At which point is that fun ? ( I'm also looking at YOU Zelda breath of the wild)...it's a terrible game mechanic that adds nothing but irritation.
Next. Guns. Give people guns in the game. What Zombie game is fun without guns ? Oh hang on....NO ZOMBIE GAME IS FUN WITHOUT GUNS.
I would love to have input into so many game development meetings. I'd just remind everyone "....make it fun.....it's a GAME!!! "
I wouldn't buy outer worlds a second time. It was an ok game but very "by the numbers" or "safe"...or perhaps worse..."generic".
Maybe I've just seen and played too many games that fit that description. Hogwarts Legacy just ( JUST) manages to miss those accusations but flies dangerously close.
I'm not sure what would spruce games up but if you want an idea....go with much darker content. A couple of pointers...."empire strikes back" instead of return of the jedi, Deep space nine instead of voyager, deathly hallows rather than philosophers stone. Frankly, make more games with the brilliant world building of Elden Ring but without the insanely difficult boss fights. Games can still have immersive gameplay loops, they often just need more depth of character.
It's time to say goodbye to always online games. Let's face it, even Diablo 4 is going to be online only plus it seems like Redfall will be as well. What a screw up.
Vote with your wallets folks. Don't pre-order if that game you're interested in is online only. Hurt the companies who are taking game ownership straight out of YOUR hands and still making bank. DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCT.
What he is probably hinting at is that Aerith wont die and Cloud will end up getting together with either Tifa or Aerith at the end.....or Cloud sacrifices himself to defeat Sephiroth.
A removable Blu-ray drive is must for anyone who takes the time to think it through and who has not foolishly bought into the supposed digital only future.
Should the Blu-ray drive in you existing console fail an external blu-ray drive is a simple solution to keeping you disc based console going.
We have to assume these drives will be readable by any ps5 console of course. But until they're released anything that is discussed is pure conjecture.
To ensure your collection of ps4/5 games will be playable for your lifetime I'd suggest a purchase of two of the new base units and 4 of the drive attachments( over the space of a few years not all at once). That way you'll always have a new drive attachment to use !
This should be a great concept. Just buy two consoles ( one for back up ) over the next few years and 3 or 4 spare drives and the system could last for years maybe decades.

@Total_Weirdo
My thoughts as well.
Re: The Response to Rocksteady's Suicide Squad Has Been Abysmal
It's time to say goodbye to always online games. Let's face it, even Diablo 4 is going to be online only plus it seems like Redfall will be as well. What a screw up.
Vote with your wallets folks. Don't pre-order if that game you're interested in is online only. Hurt the companies who are taking game ownership straight out of YOUR hands and still making bank.
DO NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCT.
Re: Final Fantasy 7 Remake Producer Says Narrative Changes 'Necessary' to Keep Players Interested
What he is probably hinting at is that Aerith wont die and Cloud will end up getting together with either Tifa or Aerith at the end.....or Cloud sacrifices himself to defeat Sephiroth.
Re: Hogwarts Legacy Breaks Livestreaming Record, Tops 1.3 Million Viewers
Just "LOL" to all those bullying fools who wanted an embargo on this game. May this usher in the end of another type of bully in this life.
Re: Poll: Would You Be Interested in a Detachable PS5 Disc Drive?
A removable Blu-ray drive is must for anyone who takes the time to think it through and who has not foolishly bought into the supposed digital only future.
Should the Blu-ray drive in you existing console fail an external blu-ray drive is a simple solution to keeping you disc based console going.
We have to assume these drives will be readable by any ps5 console of course. But until they're released anything that is discussed is pure conjecture.
Re: 'Flawless' New PS5 with Some Devs, Features Detachable Disc Drive
To ensure your collection of ps4/5 games will be playable for your lifetime I'd suggest a purchase of two of the new base units and 4 of the drive attachments( over the space of a few years not all at once). That way you'll always have a new drive attachment to use !
Re: 'Flawless' New PS5 with Some Devs, Features Detachable Disc Drive
This should be a great concept. Just buy two consoles ( one for back up ) over the next few years and 3 or 4 spare drives and the system could last for years maybe decades.
