Out in Japan at the end of next month, Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time details are starting to rain down upon hyped fans. This latest slice of info comes from director Takeshi Uchikawa, who says that the game will take around 50 hours to finish. If you're looking to polish off everything that the release has to offer, though, you could be looking at up to 100 hours. Yep, sounds like a Dragon Quest titles, doesn't it?
There's still been no official word from Square Enix on whether Dragon Quest XI is coming West, but the publisher has previously hinted at it heading overseas. We say hinted, but it was essentially confirmation without any bells and whistles. Could we get a release window during E3? It's possible, we suppose.

Looking forward to another home console dragon quest
It just has to be released in the west, full of those utterly charming British VO's.
I used to play a lot of JRPGs as a kid - probably my favorite genre. I have fond memories of Dragon Warrior in particular. But I play them very little these days...I Am Setsuna was the only one in a few years and I really loved it!
The wait (12 months+) for it to come west put me off the genre. I'm not paying $60 for an old game. It's the same reason I didn't buy the latest Tomb Raider. Oh well, I hope it's great, because I know A LOT of others are looking forward to it.
This looks almost exactly like a modern-gen DQVIII.
Really looking forward to this.
50 hours for a rpg seems pretty short these days,so glad it's 'at least'.If it's half as good as Journey Of The Cursed King I'll be spending alot more than that amount anyway
Can't wait for an official announcement. As far as I'm concerned, making an HD console version for Playstation 4 is the biggest indicator that this is leaving Japan - the 3DS version is the one for them. I just want Square to make it official and really dedicate to getting this hype train rolling - with no new Final Fantasies on the horizon or Kingdom Hearts, they kind of HAVE to finally focus on establishing Dragon Quest in the West.
Don't blame the visual style (DragonBall Z and Chrono Trigger are beloved worldwide; the problem isn't Akira Toriyama), don't blame the gameplay rooted in the old-school (if you can move 1 million+ units of Bravely Default, you can't blame old-school influences anymore); just figure it out, Square. Dragon Quest does fine in the West, but XI needs to do much better than (the criminally under-the-radar) Heroes 2 or even Builders which surprised a bunch of people.
Square hasn't really tried to push a Dragon Quest since VIII or maybe IX back in 2010. I really, REALLY want to see Square announce Dragon Quest XI at E3 and start the hype train right!
