Re: PS Plus Essential Games for November 2023 Announced

@Olmaz not sure what conversation you’re trying to have. Your initial post called it a terrible month and really scraping the bottom of the barrel. And I’d have to argue against what is probably an insane backlog. Mafia 2 and Fireteam Elite are good solid mid-range games. Not sure about DBZ The Breakers, but it seems like a run-of-the-mill asymmetrical hide-and-seek.
Mid month, for sure. Terrible? Bottom of the barrel? That’s hyperbole at best.

Now, if you’re taking the price increase into consideration, I can see your point. But you went in on age and what you deem to be lesser quality. Sure Mafia 2 shows its age - but it’s still a good story and is worthy of a playthrough. Fireteam Elite is good mindless fun (it was on Xbox anyway).

Probably not what we should expect from a higher-costing Plus Essential…but still good games in their own right.

I’ll be spending some time in the GameStop subreddit trolling GS employees. Seriously, you guys should see some of the ignorant stuff they complain about, such as being pissed off at customers that bring in consoles for trade “too late” I.e. 15-30 minutes before closing. They feel that customers should “know better”, that they shouldn’t be expected to offer all the services and products their place of employment offers during business hours. They get so triggered. It’s epic.

Other than that I really need to get back on some games. Baldurs Gate 3 feels like a daunting task to continue at the moment, so I’m thinking I’ll finally start Resi 4 remake. It’s spooky season, after all.

I want to pull the trigger on this one but I was reminded that the MGS Collection is coming this next week. And then there’s Lords of the Fallen I wanna play too.
And I still haven’t finished BG3. Come to think of it I haven’t played any video games in almost 3 weeks. Been focusing on not smoking, seems like reading is all I want to do lately.

@Northern_munkey what’s the difficulty like on Lords of the Fallen? I remember liking the first one well enough until I came up against a boss that spawned two minions off of it and did these insane AoE attacks
.
I couldn’t beat it after multiple tries and gave up.

@rusty82 agreed on all fronts, though I haven’t seen the film adaptations..I looked a few scenes up on YouTube and immediately thought “Nope.” Just like with Game Of Thrones, the characters exist more perfectly in my imagination than on the screen.
Not sure why they felt they needed to make the vampire blue lmao. Barlow already looks creepy af as he’s described in the book.

I’m really hoping Pet Sematary is tops as well. I read the foreword King wrote and then the first three chapters and it’s downright creepy thus far. I like how dissimilar Creed is to Mears

@Fiendish-Beaver I’m right there with you on this. I haven’t felt this strongly about a game since Witcher 3. I think BG3 easily takes the top spot now for my top rpg.
Also thinking about how I’ll play on future runs. I’ve heard/read somewhere that the first play though of this game is kind of a tutorial for all subsequent playthroughs. I chose a bard kinda for laughs and I’m actually really happy with how he’s turned out

I played for 11 hours yesterday. I’m really happy my wife was out of town for that.

I went to Halloween Horror Nights last night (Xpress Pass is the only way) and had a blast; still recovering from it. Bought BG3 but not sure if I’m gonna dive right in, as I’m still really early in my Divinity Original Sin. I thought initially that the non-linearity if it would be difficult for me, since I’m honestly quite used to handholding in most of the RPGs I’ve played. This Larian stuff though is a breath of fresh air, and it feels super good to just head out into the fog and (with the help of regular saves) discover, fight and at times fail spectacularly.
Failure in this sort of game is a good teacher for me, it opens my mind up to different possibilities and ways of play. I’m generally not very creative…so this is kinda addictive and new to me

Loving it!

Also might grab Disco Elysium bc why the hell not.
