Re: 'We've Always Wanted to Do It': Todd Howard Says He Knew Starfield PS5 Would Be a 'Matter of Time'

Dubplant

Every time I see his face and it isn't telling me we're getting another Fallout or ES game I mark a notch on the mysteriously shaped bone hung from a silver cord around my neck. Over many eons this bone has become scored a thousand times and a thousand times more, the power within it builds and the time of judgement is near.

I very much encourage Todd to get to work, for all of our sakes.

Re: Resident Evil 2 Director Says Requiem Needs a 'Non-Scary' Mode for Fraidy Cats Like Him

There's lots of "that would be like" false equivalencies here. It would be more like having diet or low fat versions of food and people being annoyed saying "but they're supposed to have sugar!". You never have to touch the version you don't like.
RE has a dark aesthetic style, exploration and puzzle based gameplay, combat, and anxiety inducing sections. The idea of optionally toning down the anxiety so more people could enjoy the rest doesn't seem that terrible. There's a lot of purity policing and gatekeeping in the gaming community.

That said I'm loving RE9 Requiem with all horror intact, just saying it wouldn't upset me at all if there were more options, same as I'm playing on Normal and don't mind there's a Casual mode.

Besides, this is just a throwaway comment. Why are people not getting upset over Ink Ribbons being optional? They're also a huge part of the series history and gameplay strategy and yet it seems most people are happy to have the option of doing away with them!

Re: Fan Fave Resident Evil 2 Is Getting a Third Remake, Exclusively in Arcades

@nessisonett Retro Replay in Norwich is full of arcade machines, two floors, pay once for full access. No bar.

@Oram77 It pains me so much that Resident Evil 3 was apparently cut short when originally developed so they could rush it out to capitalise on the success of RE2, and then they did a short remake. Why do they keep doing RE3 dirty?

Re: For Some Reason, Sony Apparently Got Gran Turismo 7 Running on Switch 2

I think a lot of people are unaware that Polyphony are basically an R&D department for Sony that also produce a racing game.

There's a long history going back to the PS1 where Sony used PD to develop the Performance Analyser dev tool, and more recently PD were heavily involved in HDR and VR (which is why GT is so good in PSVR).

Re: Sony Puts Must-Own PS5 Accessories on Sale in the US

I loved my PS VR when I was using it for a few things that it worked well for, but a lot of things were ported and not built from the ground up and it didn't quite work properly.

I would buy a PS VR 2 if it was cheap enough, but the other side is you have to spend a fair bit on games which are often short and hit and miss.

Re: The Real Star of Gran Turismo 7's Free PS5, PS4 Update Is a 312km/h Minivan

@nessisonett

I would really recommend you play 2, 4 and 6. At that point in the series there were 2 games per generation. Polyphony focused on a new game engine and physics for the first one and for the second took that and added loads more cars and races. It means the most obscure and interesting cars like the Espace F1 and mundane everyday cars like Vectras and Pandas are in the even numbered games.

Re: Sounds Like Sony May Finally Be Starting to Wind Down PS4 Support

@SuntannedDuck2

Had a busy week, would have replied earlier!

You are right about the devs considerations, but a lot of what you said was about offline gaming. For online racing, the devs want more cars on track (At live events theres 20 car races).

People race very differently to AI (quit/disconnect - 16 player races almost never end with 16 players) and the fans want more cars on track (esp massive tracks like Circuit de la Sarthe (LeMans) and Nurburgring Nordschleife).

It's only 16 on PS5 due to the network limitations of PS4.

That said, theres also an example of where the consoles don't hold each other back. In PS5 GT7 there are advanced AI races that need more processing power. This mode simply isn't in PS4 GT7 so I would agree that the examples where PS4 holds PS5 back are usually more down to dev choices.

Hope you enjoy GT7 when you get it!

Re: PS5's New Power Saver Feature Confirms Its First Supported Games

@Ultrasmiles Consoles have usually been below 50 Watts but rapidly increased beyond 150 Watts from PS3/360 onwards (Nintendo taking a lower power route) prompting a few articles and generating some attention. Offering a low power option could allay criticism, but yeah looking at the comments it's not exactly everyones most wanted feature...

Re: PS5's New Power Saver Feature Confirms Its First Supported Games

@Max_the_German I've always been happy with the way the PS5 looks, it was an upgrade from the PS4 and when I get a new TV I get a further upgrade but like you say it's only a handful of games that even exceed 1080 in 60fps mode.

@rjejr Hey! Yeah, it might be nice if the option were there, but I don't know if there would be much power saving. It will be interesting to see if it is any use to PS5 users of it is mainly in place for potential handheld compatability.
