Death Stranding 2 Reportedly Subtitled 'On the Beach', Re-Reveal Expected at State of Play

If it releases this year I will be so happy 😊
Most anticipated game besides Last of Us pt3, Judas, Metro

I'm presuming PC day one.

The superior version with free online, mods, ability to play both Xbox and Playstation games, retro emulators, VR etc.

Currently playing Unreal Engine VR games via Quest 3 on PC, far superior to PSVR2. Also playing through some classic retro games on N64 emulator.

First one had a lot of potential but in the end was way too long unfortunately so hopefully Part 2 will have a good length (8 hours max).
Dreaming about a game with those mechanics (packing stuff on a backbag and go on a journey) but in good for 20 years now

On principle I always hate it when the first game/film has no subtitle but the sequel does. I also don't like non title-distinguishing subtitles: 'On the beach' sounds like it could have been used for the first one. I hear people in a future with multiple Death Stranding titles asking of this alleged title : "Which one was that again? I'm sure they all went on the beach at some point".

That being said, I'm really not fussed. I'm sure the game is going to be excellent based on how phenomenal the first one was.

And a State of Play in the next two weeks? Nothing of substance to complain about here.

I would happily play it this year! About the title: anybody who has played the first one will immediately get it but I think it will confuse people even more with inexplicable summer vibes 😅

Regarding the timing, I think Sony's going to do State of Play the same day as Nintendo Direct again and Direct seems extremely likely for next week or the week after.

Death Stranding is so horrendously boring and mind numbing. I don't understand how it sold so much and how there's so many people excited for a sequel. I was gifted the original game, tried multiple times getting into it and my opinion of the game remains negative.

All that gaslighting about it being a new genre of gaming? Utter *****.

Kojima's games have turned into the works of a man who loves listening to himself talk.

I doubt it's going to be the case, but I'd be pretty damn happy to see Death Stranding 2 as the big fall 2024 game for PlayStation.

Re: the “On the Beach” subtitle:

It’s been quite a while since I played Death Stranding; but if I recall correctly, “the beach” in the game is a kind of limbo/transition area that some people go to when they die. So, the subtitle would make sense given the game’s lore.

@Benjiro you aren't alone. It's a very divisive game. You either like it or strongly dislike it. I am of the same opinion as you. Was a very boring game. Felt like the product of a man that hubris has poisoned.

I was disappointed when we didn't get an update at TGA. I hope this game lands this year. DS1 is incredible and I've no doubt DS2 will be just as amazing.

The first thing I thought of was the 1959 Movie "On The Beach" adapted from the 1957 Novel by the same name written by Nevil Shute. A found Easter egg before the first trailer?

Is DS3 going to be 'Beyond the Beach' then?

I want to skip straight to that tbh as it is the most interesting part left to discover of the DS universe. What lies beyond the beach, is it a lake or is it an ocean? 😛

As for 'on the beach' it does just sound like the usual Kojima trolling and it'll just be DS2, but we shall see.

I really hope this makes it into 2024 but I’m not holding my breath.

@Benjiro Death Stranding is a really tough game to recommend. I know my colleagues in work would find it tedious, my wife would roll her eyes, my kids wouldn't even try it. But the traversal was amazing!

Once I had played Death stranding, locomotion in other open worldgames felt juvenile and crude. Making it back from a tough and arduous journey was liberating. It's not a game for everyone but it's certainly a game for me.

The online strand stuff is kind of unique. Playing near to release you could participate in building up a network of motorways and ski lifts. I don't think it's the same now tbh.

@AFCC I really hope they improve the UI, map and menus at least, oh and the notorious game pace stopper when the antenna alerts us to the boring BT's ...
