I'm still hoping this will turn out to be one of the top games of the year. I can easily envision it. Hopefully in 12 minutes and 8 seconds the hype train will get it's steam.
@Cutmastavictory Capcom got their check already. Getting 1 million to try your game, and potentially sell them cosmetics/shortcuts is more impressive than 1 million people NOT trying the game and your game falling into obscurity.
Capgod is placing full page ads on Push, Pure and NL - for weeks - obviously they are putting money behind marketing and support for the game.
@trev666 It gives some indication of which games bombed and which games are a huge hit or who is a flash in the pan or who is doing middling performance. For example - Zelda, Mario Kart, Minecraft, GTA indicate that they are evergreens likely years in the top 10 - you can assume they are also doing monster digital numbers. Final Fantasy Sixteen now bounced to #16 (per nintendolife) indicates it is not an evergreen. Physical or digital it doesn't matter. Trends.

The most interesting thing about the Switch now is how they follow up this monster. I'd go for Sony's jugular and release the specs the same week as Sony's next big screw up. I'm thinking that handheld disaster or maybe the Pro if the Neo Switch is relatively cheap ($350-400 or less).
Street Fighter 6 re-enterted the charts at #14. Kinda surprising. I guess a sale occured.
It's my favorite game of the summer - I've been enjoying it more that Street Fighter even. SF is the better game - but this one is more fun.
Once you get around player level 25 or so it really opens up into a lot of modes. The controls are so simple and intuitive it can make you feel pretty bad ass at times.
Monster Hunter started out a light affair. I can see this one having legs. I hope the Japanese people are into it.
I don't feel people are hyped enough for Armored Core 6. When I played the first one a long time ago, it was magnificent. From Software has been on a tear for a long time - I expect big things from this game.
I think this review is fairly accurate. I personally like it more than a 7 but I think it's a fair score. Right now it's my most played game. It's a solid 8 close to a 9 for me.
I do agree with others it isn't worth full price though. If I were Capcom I'd have rolled it out at $40 and discounted from there - eventually heading to $20 in hopes I could go 2 years or so to free. Give everyone who bought it a set of skins or some other trinket.
@Americansamurai1 when the Sauds started buying up Nintendo shares they stayed under 10%. The Japanese are very nationalistic when it comes to their companies. And everything else.
I wish we'd do the same in the states honestly. Land and industry.
@Americansamurai1 @IAmAshCohen17 Japan would block that sale. In fact, Japan passed a law about 4 years ago where any stakeholder >10% is to be committied (sic?) and likely restricted.
@Flippygruffle if Sony could have bought ABK they would have. They don't have the type of money MS and Amazon have. 1/10 of MS's cash on hand. They aren't in the conversation.
@Sekijo I think MS overpaid for ABK by a great deal. But they do have many, many IPs worth harvesting. ABK is a dumpster fire - MS has a better chance of righting the ship than most giants. They have the pedigree and their HR is miles better than Kotick's mess.
Maybe they can inspire the staff to not suck again. They were certainly loved at one point.
BUT - SE is just absolute trash. I'm sure Sony realize show bad they are right now as well. One failure after another. That's Square Enix.
@KaijuKaiser I disagree about the great games but I agree about a good time to lock down the company. SE is floundering, their stock is stuck in time and Sony is probably hungry for someone to buy right now.
Maybe, tbh I haven't seen Sony's balance sheet lately. With all of those billions in R/D they are spending maybe buying companies isn't on their list rn.
@Brydontk I re-read your og post and you are right. Those 3 probably won't ever see that level - frankly they probably shouldn't until the end of this gen's life cycle.
@PaperAlien Xbox is the same exact sales as this - on the same cycle. These aren't sales, except for ones not often on sale yet (Hogwart's) - the listed prices are the real price now that they've either slowed down or completely failed reaching targets. They are trying to perceive value - they are not a value, they are simply reflecting a found price people will pay.
EU did us (all [even the US and other countries]) a solid with this. This has nothing to do with handheld game machines -it has everything to do with phones and the action to let consumers change their own gd batteries and do repairs.
@BusyOlf Imho it still has to look cool. To this day BFBC2/Vietnam is my favorite shooter of all time. I'd love to get that magic back but it has to look like a war - to me.
But as soon as I saw the grappling hook I thought - okay this is just the latest BF sans fidelity.
@GeeEssEff I just assume the transition from giant gaming company to huge-mega- multinational most important tech company on the planet will mean this newest game won't be the best. This year. There will be growing pains.
Here is what I know for a fact: Pushsquare will go bananas on each minute detail that isn't to their liking and blame the FTC and look ridiculous in doing so. That is a truth.
@Westernwolf4 the Zelda launch at my local target had a small line of people. Strange for a target. Holding games gets people in the store to browse for other things - and it serves as an advertisement for the publishers.
Or, the most successful machine will focus on physical. Sony and Microsoft are getting thrashed. Just because they say physical is dying doesn't mean it will.
I wonder what else the deal had in it? I wonder if Sony was smart enough to negotiate price in this deal. if they didn't - I'd charge Sony a 'tax' on year 3. A tax to cover get closer to that 30% they make. By year 10 I'd have an extra 20-30% tacked on above normal prices. Or charge end users an additional "online" fee etc.
Little things to turn the knife and destroy the competition. Between this deal and whatever Nintendo makes next - watching the three of them duke it out will be great fun these next few years.
This looks like a fun one. However, why doesn't Zombie Perry just use his zombie cannon to erase the entirety of the Japanese military system in a day or two? That was the threat 170 years ago.
@Shepherd_Tallon Sony was literally one of the first GaaS companies - with Everquest and Star Wars Galaxies. Then because of how they treated those properties - became one of the most hated in the MMO space. Some people still hold a grudge to this day.

@StrawberryTurtle Two giant publishers gobbling up developers left and right is apples to oranges.
One goes unchecked because the Chinese don't follow international laws anyway and stakeholders like money.

@Juanalf There are only two movies this entire year which have performed admirably: Mario Bros and Spiderman cartoon.
The entire movie industry is going to get another shake-up in the 1-5 years. If the strike persists - by early 2024.
For the love of Pete Disney's CEO has hinted at selling Disney. Literally selling the company.
