@itsfoz probably to announce they are pushing back the Spidey 2 release date because it shares it with Mario Wonder. "We want to make sure people experience the best game possible."
Oh boy, Lol a complete reaction to Nintendo I love it. They are sticking this one together with bubblegum and broken dreams. This one has great potential for anger...I feel it's presence in the force. Updates to old announcements gd this is going to be funny.
@somnambulance I really hope Alan Wake 2 is good and I am willing to buy it digital only, even though i prefer the discs, if they knock it out of the park.
I've been doing a rewatch of Twin Peaks: The Return and the switch from the talk show reality to the nightmare kind of fits that vibe i think. I am rooting for the game!
@somnambulance Oh I believe it. Some of my friendships will never be quite the same after the event.
The thing that stuck out the most to me was my kid coming home from kindergarten - the teacher told her "this is what you should think about the pandemic" and then said things. I looked her dead in the eyes, my own eyes absolutely blazing - I said, "DON'T YOU EVER LET ANYONE TELL YOU WHAT YOU SHOULD FEEL ABOUT THIS. NOT YOUR TEACHERS, NOT ME NOT ANYONE! WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO TELL YOU HOW TO FEEL.'" they weren't allowed to talk during lunch and had to put their mask on after they took a bite of food while they chewed it. She was 5. Violent Criminals in prison got more respect.
She was kind of shocked but I think she got it. I'm hoping the covid kid generation brings punk rock back or lights everything on fire in 10 years or something.
@somnambulance I live in georgia - which was really loose with the pandemic. But I lived in an extremely left teeny tiny city that was trying to prove a point. that was my issue. People all over the state were acting normally but this dumb town 4 square miles large was acting like we were in a contagion movie.
I've had covid more times than I can count (well...about 4 or 5 times and I can count to 5) - I always played loose with it and still do. I had the Og covid - before they shut down the county. MLK weekend 2020 was when i contracted it to be exact. I'm like a patient zero
@somnambulance well for Ac it was 3 of us (family) playing constantly for almost 9 months. It was the first game I ever played with my kids. Then MH Rise hit and it was all over for me. That was over 1.5 years roughly with the expansion. I'd dabble in some other games but really just played those constantly. I'll hold both of those games in high regard forever.
I lived in a s*** town that was more restrictive than those around me and everyone was all judgy all of the time when you went outside to enjoy life. At the time these games were a way to avoid those miscreants - whom I came to sincerely loathe. I still do.
As far as the linear thing goes - i saw this game as a cross between a Soulslike and an action adventure like DMC/Bayonetta. In DMC/Bayo enemies, chest etc are very predictable but still can be challenging to get.
I havent played this obviously so i cant argue here - but I'm not sure it should get knocked for it.
@Cherip-the-Ripper I haven't but I am sure it is worth watching. None of his movies just plain 'aren't worth watching imo'. I'm a big fan of his but not a super fan like I am of David Lynch or Kubrick.
ps. I'm glad you posted that movie I had seen the movie about but never realized it was Jarmusch's.
@somnambulance I think 20 hours is a sweet spot. 40 for a deep rpg. 10-15 for action adventure or a platformer. 100 hours on some deep jrpg ends up being really tedious.
@LifeGirl Nothing close to 2001's spectacle had been done even remotely before that. It influenced all special effects movies that came afterwards. I think it makes Star wars look terrible which came out 8 years afterwards and is universally celebrated.
Some of the docking etc were sexual allegories. The ballet in space was just that - to show the beauty of the unknown. A step in the evolution of mankind.
the drawn out sequences were to build tension. To show the dilemma of man vs machine vs god itself - and the real choices each makes when considering life, death and the eternal soul. There might be three directors that do as much today. David Lynch. Jim Jarmusch in a different way. Guillermo del Toro for more accessible.
It isn't nostalgia with that film. There is only a handful of film makers that dare go into sincere surreal film making. Most don't have the imagination or the guts Kubrick did.
@LifeGirl maybe. Pretty much the reason for the Playstation's success was FF7. Like the PS1 through the PS5 can attribute it's success to the game. You could argue GTAV might not exist without it.
It depends. if it adds play time buy dispersing currency in 10000 searchable chests like Bioshock Infinite? Hell no I avoid that like open flames. If it adds time through meaningful gameplay and story? Yes I go to that like marshmallows over open flames.
@SonOfPSXDave it would be pretty sweet to be able to play NSO gameboy/GBA on an iphone. that would be an excellent collab. I'm not interested in playing real, new games on a phone but an old classic? Yup.
@CutchuSlow " I'd rather just buy a dedicated gaming device for that price." you are in luck. Not only does this play games but it also makes calls to your friends and family. hard to believe but this is the original point of a "phone".
@Fragslayer thanks for the good write-up. I will also add that the netflix anime was excellent - really enjoyed that one. that deserves another season.
@OScube I don't know. I like having physical copies so i went and shopped for the latest version. i got confused when i only saw PS4 or Xbone versions for the box. is that normal? is there an upgrade option in the menu or something?
sorry I havent even had this latest gen for a very long time and I never owned a ps4 or xbone. I skipped a gen completely for the pc.
The animation of the actual fights look like stick figure puppets with missing frames. The backgrounds are all but static. They can add whatever gimmick they took from Smash bros or SF - the game is wack - just about the blood and movies.
@Max_the_German accurate assumption. Also, children turn 6 and they get MK8. It is likely a cultural right of passage now. At 6 MK8, at 13 GTA V - like every american family going to Disney World at least once or getting your ping-pang cut at birth.
@TheCollector316 i think only the game industry biz prints both every month. But like I pointed out - it is incredibly inconsistent. Not worth the ink imo. but here we are chatting about it

@HonestHick maybe you are right. They need to busy on selling xboxes then. Obviously a price cut was a huge win for Sony. MS needs to get on that train too. Although it must have cost Sony a great deal i suppose.
@General_Disarray I feel life is short and there is so much new content to see and do - I'd rather spend that time and money on completely brand new experiences. Since money is always finite to some degree I generally choose to give it to innovation rather than someone milking a thing over and over.
Just my personal way of doing things. I do this in all things except bars and vacations.

i know these posts are all /s but you could do it!!
@General_Disarray 100%. I've still yet to buy that one again because the first GC version was utter perfection. I don't want to mess up that game in my mind.
Funny you mention it - I was just (like a few days ago) looking at the remake video - really liking the way it looked and thought, "why am I holding on to this stupid, old idea just play the damn thing again!"
@General_Disarray Of course not. But it is a chicken and egg. Skyrim would never have released on every potato known to man if it hadn't of been ridiculously successful to begin with. The only ones who get that treatment really are the GTAs and Fortnites and Skyrims of the world.

Re: State of Play Livestream Revealed for Thursday, a Focus on Indie and Third-Party Games
@MinotauroBJJ Bi-annually but I get the point. The blogs have been talking about this one though.
you are probs right about the hype but who knows.
Re: State of Play Livestream Revealed for Thursday, a Focus on Indie and Third-Party Games
@MinotauroBJJ MS has more than Starfield - Forza is releasing next month and by all accounts it is shaping up to be something special.
But they also have all of the gamepass games releasing day 1 which Sony has none of. like Lies of P.
And Nintendo always has something up their sleeve on their Directs. they are the best at the showcases.
pressure is on I think this video was ill-advised at best; a disaster at worst. we'll see Thursday is shaping up to be a fun one!
Re: State of Play Livestream Revealed for Thursday, a Focus on Indie and Third-Party Games
@truerbluer they are spending a few hours putting this one together.

@Themartian_boy it is also crazy how a review about a game not related to Starfield still has people obsessing on Starfield out of thin air.
Maybe it is the game of the generation after all.

@Grumblevolcano it is to promote SO The Second Story out in November.

@OmegaStriver It will not outsell Smash Bros. Ultimate. It will not come even close. the number 1 fighting game is Smash Brothers.
Smash bros also sells at full price for years and years and years. MK11 I can get for $8 pretty much whenever I want.
~~~toxic~~~
thanks for the helpful mini-reviews people.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, Phantom Liberty Stream Set for Thursday
question for you fine folks - is this base game running well now? Is it fun/cool?
I stayed so far away from it because of it's launch I never really re-visited the possibility of playing it. but now...
I do love me some Cyberpunk settings. But then I read the cities are empty. Which is really the opposite of what the genre is.
