I'd personally like them to bring their development costs down, make smaller games and spread the risk out a bit. It's insane how long the credits are on major releases.
I'm not someone who's particularly convinced of the value of marketing, it often appears to me a bit of a black hole, certainly for established brands/series, I imagine the amount they'll spend on GTA marketing will be immense, when really everyone and their gran will know when it's out.
@themightyant You're correct that it's true that they've gotten cheaper, but they have far less overheads given that it's a mainly digitial market and the number of gamers has increased many fold.
Personally I'm not even sure I'll be getting GTAVI, I've started GTAV many times and never finished it and I have no interest in the multiplayer component.
If the game runs at 60fps 4k in some performance mode on a base PS5 I may pick it, but knowing that this type of game doesn't hold my attention the whole way any more it'd be difficult to even pry £70 from my wallet.
I don't think this will do anything... however it's not a terrible idea to record people's dismay in a slightly novel way.
Maybe this kind of thing may one day spark some inspiration at Sony or Naughty Dog, it'd be better if Sony got behind something that some people actually want as opposed to some of their more recent seemingly unwanted creations.
At least it's positive rather than a review bomb or something like that.
That quote looks completely off in the transcribed version. Only the interviewer uses the word jazzed and she doesn't say "as myself". I often find quotes that impose supposed intention odd, maybe it's just me. She seems awesome in the role though.
@Yousef- I love Fist Full Of Dollars etc but much of the performances in those are hammed up to the eyeballs, which Red Dead replicates pretty well, they don't really go for serious. Acting in games is often equal to Hollywood these days, as the motion capture tech has advanced to capture more details more of the actor's performance comes through. Just looking at my shelf next to me, Last Of Us Part 2, Death Stranding, Ghost Of Yotei and Cyberpunk all hold their own on the acting front.
Until they make a locally stored token (e.g. on your phone) that gives out a simple confirmation of minimum age in an anonymised way I'm forgoing purchasing digital content.
If they go beyond blocking social features I won't bother with PS+ beyond that.
If it extends to which games I can play I'm done with the Playstation ecosystem.
I'm not holding Sony entirely responsible or anything, as usual it's government overreach.
I'm not against age verification, I'm against giving biometric information to random third parties. There will come a day when this type data will be used to spoof security systems or something similar.
@dark_knightmare2 Considering their financial resources, their IP catalogue and previous successes in console hardware, it's a little early to declare anything. I don't have any of their current hardware and in the PC space I find them reprehensible, but they're no SEGA.
Considering how consistently RDR2 is still a top seller and hasn't got a 60fps patch (even though the engine is more than capable of it on an extremely modest PC), my perception of Rockstar/Take-Two is increasingly negative.
I think they should, if Sony et al aren't going to be doing it then Microsoft probably shouldn't. It's understandable this generation as their current Xbox is a bit of a write off. They could make a come back, especially with the volatility in the hardware market, if they navigate contrary to the rumours and release something substantial to compete at a lower price point next generation. Microsoft has the capital to write the ship if they're motivated enough.
This is a nice surprise! It's something I've been curious about as a fan of FromSoftware games, but I've been burned by a couple of non-From attempts at the genre in the past. This is a pain free entry to a series I hope I will enjoy.
@Dogbreath If a game is cheaper to make it's unlikely those savings will be passed on to you. Look at the prices of games on the Epic store on PC for a good example, EPIC take a smaller cut than pretty much all other digital stores but the prices haven't reduced for the customer.
This could have been easily avoided if they'd just made their own placeholder, it takes less than a minute for me to draw quick a squiggle and export it. I make placeholder textures regularly, I just go into photoshop, write the name of the object or material and slap it onto the object in it's scene, makes it pretty hard to miss when replacing things.

Re: USA Bank Wants You to Pay $80 for GTA 6 So Other Devs Can Charge More Too
@Ajbr8687 You've removed my point from it's context and ignored the acknowledgement of them costing more to make.
Re: RC Cars in The Crew Motorfest Looks Like the PS5, PS4 Racer's Most Fun Event Yet
@Topov81 Indeed, it looks awesome but I'd rather not be burned by Ubisoft.

@themightyant I don't disagree with any of that.

It's pretty cowardly to hide behind GTA.

@dark_knightmare2 You've comparing a department of Microsoft to almost the entirety of a console maker that peaked three decades ago.

Re: Naughty Dog Embraced Crunch Culture After The Last of Us, as It's 'What It Takes to Make Games at Our Level'
@4fold That'd probably still result in a crunch period at the same studio. They'd just end up with a bigger project with possibly more to crunch.
Re: Naughty Dog Embraced Crunch Culture After The Last of Us, as It's 'What It Takes to Make Games at Our Level'
The Last Of Us Part 2 is a masterpiece, it's understandable that it takes a serious push in the latter development period.
