Playing the upcoming Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag on the PlayStation 4 will not only reward you with enhanced visuals and physics, but it will also unlock some mysterious new online features. According to creative director Jean Guesdon, the fresh option will allow players to “have a solo experience that [benefits from] the presence of a huge community”.
It sounds a little bit like Dark Souls, but we’re struggling to see how the feature will be implemented into Black Flag. Perhaps you’ll share crew members or loot with other players – we don’t know. While we wait for more details, don't forget to check out our preview of the game.

Could make for some interesting single player, as long as it's optional. The way things are going though, it's likely just a sneaky way to get people locked into buying new, or to get us to buy online pass for the full experience.
