Aspyr are certainly putting in the work. The new bluepoint perhaps? Think they did battlefront which was rough but legacy of kain remaster looks great from the trailers anyway. Gotta respect their work ethic!

@xDD90x Sure those are fair points. I do agree with them to an extent. I just don't believe realism and immersion are the reason these designs keep cropping up. For example Abby in tlou2 was ripped, in a post apocalyptic world where nutrients would be scarce and there is no way a woman could look like that. I believe the same ideology that designed her is why Lara is the way she is

@ThomasHL No I don't believe that it is this specific isolated instance that bothers people. It is the pattern of this kind of design choice that has been happening for many years now and a lot of people are tired of it. If Lara's design had been more feminine and conventionally attractive a certain other group would be complaining about objectifying women. So sometimes you need to fight fire with fire.

@get2sammyb if you like the direction the creators have taken that's fine. It's obvious that a lot of people like to watch attractive characters. It shouldn't be controversial it's why most actors/singers are conventionally attractive. I and many others do not find this new Lara attractive. If you do that's cool too. There's is a growing trend where creating attractive women in games/cartoons has become problematic to certain ideologies and I'm not a fan of this direction.

Look up the people behind this show and you'll understand why Lara looks so masculine. Another character ruined for the 'modern audience'

@ErrantRob Toxic positivity is definitely the issue here. Awful ideas are not criticised for fear of being labeled the usual ist or phobe words. Probably 95% of the devs knew this whole thing was an awful idea but were too afraid to speak out. What kind of world are we living in

Thank God I've been playing my ps3 for the past few months. Haven't touched my ps5 as the ps3 library and quality of games is far superior

Don't think there's a need to be quick to get one really, from what I've seen it's available everywhere. Most definitely will not be getting one myself. Will wait for the ps6 pro before I buy any more hardware from Sony, even then they will need to impress me next generation or I'll skip it altogether.

@get2sammyb Sure not everyone but you would assume this site will have a definite bias to purchasing one more than somewhere else a poll was created.
Not sure anyone has changed their mind since it was announced but sure maybe the attitude has changed slightly.

Also conflating this with Nioh is also not right. The Ubisoft devs explicitly advertised this was all about historical accuracy, I don't believe Nioh ever claimed the same.

A lot of people saying Yasuke was a real historical character. It's come to light that a lot of what is known about him was made up by a western man called Thomas Lockley, the author who created the 'Yasuke was a legendary Samurai' myth from his book in 2019. He deleted all his social media accounts after Japanese gamers and Japanese historians call out his historical fabrication.

Ok he still did exist, but my question is from all the historical samurai known to us, why did ubisoft choose him over the thousands of known Japanese samurai?

Totally agree toxic positivity is becoming a huge problem. Any criticism is now seen by some as "hate". This means improvements badly needed are quashed right out of the gate and then when the market gets its hands on the product it's a disaster. This isn't just a problem in video games but in culture as a whole. Glad others are speaking out about it

These remasters are the bare minimum effort. That's what execs love minimum effort for maximum profit. It's just not good enough I could not care less about remasters of ps4 games there's barely a difference between ps4 and ps5 as it is! And obviously the main problem being so little ps5 exclusives over half way into the consoles life cycle! No wonder there are so many people sticking with their ps4s, there's no point in upgrading.

@thefourfoldroot1 I disagree, it's pretty much the same as a ps5. I can do without Improvements that require cerny to zoom into the screen for me to see. It may be a moot point to someone who won't consider a PC at any level but some people may. Also all the other benefits of having a PC such as a far far superior library of games now including ps5 'exclusives'

Yes agreed on these selling points but if you want to buy a PC that plays ps5 games pretty well AND does everything else a PC does. Forfeiting pssr and 'better' ray tracing which in mine and most other people's opinions are negligible improvements then the ps5 pro is not good value and the PC equivalent is a much better purchase

Ya I'll wait for the ps6 pro. Playing dragon age origins on my ps3 at the moment and it's soo good I can't put it down! Haven't felt like this in years about a game. I think since bloodborne. I thought it was just me getting old but now I think it might be that games were just better back then. Oblivion is next on my list 😀

It's kinda worrying that this is the best that can be done now to improve graphics. The ps6 isn't far off but I already know it will be difficult to spot whether a game is ps5 or ps6. No wonder so many have chosen to keep their ps4 as there is already barely a difference between that and ps5.

The trailer for this game was as cringe as concords. Characters look awful and purple everywhere. I honestly do not know who the audience is they are trying to appeal to with these aesthetics. Is this what the mythical 'modern audience' likes? Maybe one day they will magically appear and we can ask them 😂

Really looking forward to this. One of the very few new games I'll be getting day one. Graphics look great and the turn based looks very similar to ffx with a bit of reaction button prompts added in. All around very promising 😁

I'm gonna wait for the ps6 pro. After this awful generation I'm at least gonna try and get a great lifespan out of my current ps5. It's one of my biggest regrets buying a ps5 and not sticking to my base ps4

Awful month. Borderlands 3 is not worth playing and the other 2 games,for God sake

A lot of these comments are on point with their criticism. For me the side quests were painful but the glaring issue with the game is the combat. No strategy needed besides stagger and then unload your abilities to do as much damage as possible. This was the killer for me when I realised that it was just never gonna get anymore deep than that. Once you realise the gameplay loop is so basic the game then just became a chore. Still finished it as I really liked the story but I stopped enjoying playing around 30% of the way through

Bloodborne was I think the last game I got kind of obsessed with and couldn't put down, played it a few years after it came out and is my favourite ps4 game. Tbh nothing that's has come out since has matched it. Would love a sequel just to get more lore on that world
