Re: Talking Point: Is PlayStation Right in Saying PC Isn't a 'Major Risk' to Console Business?

BaldB3lper78

It is a net profit. PC will always be popular but I don’t see PlayStation abandoning hardware at all. I see Xbox’s next leap being a hybrid console or at least with a handheld releasing simultaneously and them trying to push for Steam app.
For PlayStation, the brand is so strong that it will keep selling and selling.

The issue that many need to understand, is that the leaps in technology are shrinking. We no longer see 8 bit to 16 bit, to 32 bit etc style leaps. That’s why many have stayed with PS4 but are now gradually making the step up.

The evolution of console technology is changing. PC’s are brilliant but I don’t see a non console future. What I do see is a console market that relies the handheld arena very heavily indeed.

Just started playing this on PS5 and it’s hilarious. Fast paced, crazy. So simple but also so much fun. Only a couple of quid so I highly recommend this one!!!

Re: PS5 Dominates UK Black Ops 6 Sales, As Game Pass Causes Xbox Share to Collapse

BaldB3lper78

The figures are exactly what were expected. I’m only surprised that anyone is surprised by it. What I would say though is that when we talk about Game Pass and sales that Xbox will make via PS and Steam, that money is being made by Microsoft rather than Xbox.
You only have to read Satya Nadella’s comments recently - he regards to the ‘Microsoft gaming division’ rather than Xbox.
He can’t wait for Xbox to be scrapped and have Microsoft Gaming as the brand once and for all.

I play on Xbox mainly but am not so blind as to see that Xbox is moving away from hardware totally.

Re: New PS Portal Firmware Update Adds Better Wi-Fi Features and More

BaldB3lper78

@Kidfunkadelic83 It’s mostly okay with a mobile hotspot but you will want to have unlimited data if you use that. The new Wi fi log in option will be helpful - I can’t for the life of me think why that wasn’t there from the start tbh. PS5 hardwired is essential though. If you haven’t got it on Ethernet, forget it mate.

Re: New PS Portal Firmware Update Adds Better Wi-Fi Features and More

BaldB3lper78

The Wi fi log is much needed and very welcome. Mist hotel hotspots these days are really good and that means more PlayStation time for me!
When announced, I was highly sceptical about the device but since I have had it, it has increased my gaming time.
At home, if TV is being used, I am on the Portal and tbh just feel like I’m playing PS5 in my hands.

It’s got issues and won’t be for everyone , but with more updates, this can get even better for PS gamers everywhere.

Re: Most PS5 Players Say 60fps Is a Must

BaldB3lper78

I mean, I’m getting long in the tooth at nearly 46, but as the game actually plays well, who cares.

The modern gamer is so obsessed with power, looks and frame rates that far too many are judging games on that alone and not how a game actually plays.

People are already pre judging Hellblade 2 for being 30FPS.

Wait and play the game and see if it’s actually any good. If it is then, the frame rate won’t matter anyway.

The obsession with tech over the actual games and how they play is like a disease for modem gamers it really is.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Feel About the PS5 Pro?

BaldB3lper78

I just do not see the point of this at all. At a time when PlayStation’s profit margins are as tight as they have ever been, and a time when generational leaps are now limited, to release a mid gen console that will cost silly money, seems risky, greedy and lacking in any sense.

Sure, it will appeal to a very limited number of people and be a niche hardware product but the money for this could be used to put into what matters and that is games - and I’m not talking about AAA blockbuster stuff here as that needs to be cut down.

PlayStation are becoming so obsessed with hardware that the games are drying up.

I don’t know why they don’t just shelve the idea of a PS5 Pro and just release the PS6 when the time comes and he market is ready as a whole.

If they release just a limited amount of the PRO console, then maybe that will be fine but they also risk making losses on the console and that could very easily push PlayStation into the red.

It’s a risky game they are about to play and one that they do not need to take at all.

Re: PS Portal Is Proving Everyone's Predictions Wrong

BaldB3lper78

I was sceptical when I first got it but have been blown away by just how brilliant it is. Even connected to my mobile phones hotspot it works so well.
As long as PS5 is hard wired the results are amazing.
Can’t wait to have this for playing on PS5 Pro and then PS6. Compared to streaming from
Xbox this is a whole new game.

Superb.

Re: PS5 Pro's Rumoured Spectral Super Resolution Tech Could Be Transformative

BaldB3lper78

So a company that is so close to slipping into the red financially is going to release yet more hardware.

Madness!

They will sell this at over £600 to try and make it viable but with a lack of games to utilise the tech, this is a risky move for PlayStation and it seems they are not learning that we need games more than hardware.

A Pro just isn’t necessary at this time when PS6 will be here by 2027 more than likely.

Re: Sony Allegedly Pausing PSVR2 Production Due to Surplus of Unsold Stock

BaldB3lper78

The tech is fine but they haven’t supported it. It’s been about as well marketed as the Xbox Series X/S. It is one of the reasons that PlayStation profit margins are so tight.

They have become increasingly obsessed with hardware and are not learning lessons. The PS5 Pro will lose them money as well.

They just don’t seem to understand that the games are always what brings success.

They need to drop the obsession with hardware because it they don’t, it won’t just be Xbox who are 3rd party only publishers soon.
