Out Today: Rebellion Revives Retro Arcade Sports Game Speedball on PS5 1

Developer and publisher Rebellion has launched its reimagined rendition of the classic sports game Speedball on PS5 today, 27th January 2026.

Following a lengthy stint in early access on PC, the game has finally arrived on consoles, and the studio has marked the occasion with a new trailer:

Speedball is an aggressive, arcadey game about a violent future sport. To win, you need to score more points than the opposing team, and you can do that by scoring goals or performing painful-looking takedowns.

If you want to learn more about the game and how it operates, Rebellion also recently released an overview video, explaining how to play and all the game's modes:

You can enjoy a single player League mode to try and dominate every other team, engage in Quick Play matches against the computer or another player, or take it online for more competitive games.

It seems like a reasonably robust game, and should give fans of the series a shot of nostalgia while introducing new players to the mix.
