Re: Sony Buys Ex-Halo, Destiny Developer Bungie for $3.6 Billion

BadPlayerOne

@viktorcode they added 20 million players since they left Activision. Again you are trying to make a point about Destiny 2. They are not interested in Destiny 2. They are interested in Know-how for their own upcoming service based franchise. That is why they won’t interfere in Bungies game development.

Re: Sony Buys Ex-Halo, Destiny Developer Bungie for $3.6 Billion

BadPlayerOne

That’s the difference between PlayStation and Xbox. Sony has their own plans of an service based game and they look around on how to make it happen and if necessary they buy a company to add missing Know-how to achieve their goal. Xbox doesn’t have their own ideas or the creativity to develop their own games so they buy franchises and then sell them as “their” own. Without those purchases they would be finished a long time ago.

Re: Sony Buys Ex-Halo, Destiny Developer Bungie for $3.6 Billion

BadPlayerOne

@Avenir Sony is not Microsoft they have their own plans and buy what fits them. They buy Bungie because of their Know-how. Playstation is about their own creativity and they buy what they need to make it happen. I really hope they don’t turn out to be like Microsoft. This wasn’t a reaction to Microsoft buying Activision.

Re: Sony Buys Ex-Halo, Destiny Developer Bungie for $3.6 Billion

BadPlayerOne

Personally I think this sheds new light on Microsoft’s adhoc decision to buy Activision Blizzard. If this acquisition of Bungie was already several month in the making I am sure because of Xbox close relationship with Bungie that they were aware of it and in a panic move bought Activision to counter Sony’s bid on Bungie. Just saying.

Re: Talking Point: In Theory, Could Xbox Game Pass Come to PS5, PS4?

BadPlayerOne

If Sony would get game pass on their consoles they can just as well sell PlayStation to Microsoft. They would make themselves completely dependent from Microsoft. Lose all third party franchises to Microsoft. Before you know it they would force PlayStation to release their first party games on Game Pass as well and who would buy their consoles anymore. When they lose the hardware they lose everything.

Re: Xbox Boss Expresses Desire to 'Keep Call of Duty on PlayStation' After Activision Buyout Is Complete

BadPlayerOne

I think Microsoft will be forced to keep CoD on PlayStation because of trading regulations. The first few days I was also angry about Microsoft’s move and I guess I still am. But PlayStation just needs to do what it always did and maybe they are not the top dog anymore in the long run, but that doesn’t mean they are done. Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Apple and Facebook are all obsessed with the Metaverse and they will one buy one buy up all the big triple A studios. It’s all for their big plan to built a virtual world like in the movie Ready Player One. I think it’s good that PlayStation is investing more in VR. And who knows maybe they come up with a great feature or idea like Apple did. Sony will be in the same situation as Apple was versus Microsoft. And now Apple is even bigger then Microsoft. If Sony can keep making triple A games and maybe they can built a strong innovative position in VR they will be fine. There will always be independent smaller studios and Sony should give them a place and use their creativity to their advantage. And I think Sony movies and games combined can be a strong team. Get The Last of Us and Uncharted known to a larger audience and they might be interested in the games. Keep feeding PC gamers and some might buy a PlayStation console as well. Create really immersive VR open world games and they might get a spot in the metaverse. Maybe even a big one. All the big player I mentioned before are already being investigated by trade regulators. The EU parliament is motivated to force Facebook to sell WhatsApp and Instagram. Apple is under investigation. Google the same etc.

Re: EA Is the Next Major Publisher Tipped for a Takeover

BadPlayerOne

@OmegaStriver Google has cash reserves of 135 billion dollar. They have debts, but calculated debts. Even Apple has debts while having around 360 billion dollar of cash reserves. So no it is not a good idea to have higher debt then your cash reserves. Sony has cash reserves of around 25 billion dollars. They would need twice the sum to purchase EA. Sony is not stupid.

Re: Sony Responds to Activision Blizzard Buyout, Expects Games to Still Come to PS5, PS4

BadPlayerOne

@Martsmall everybody is buying licenses and make them exclusives. That’s a given and normal business practice in any kind of business. That is not even comparable with what Microsoft just did. And it’s all speculative what Sony would have done if they had the money. Only because Microsoft is a bully doesn’t mean all the other companies are the same. There is a difference when you try to be the leading gaming company in the gaming industry or if you try to takeover the whole industry like Microsoft is attempting. Sony is a predator for sure, but Microsoft is an apex predator that will destroy any kind of competition. That is the way they have been doing business since they were founded.

Re: EA Is the Next Major Publisher Tipped for a Takeover

BadPlayerOne

@RevGaming I agree, but the Activision purchase is setting the stage. Microsoft is going to try to buy EA, Take-Two and Ubisoft at one point. It’s inevitable. Or any of the other big players like Facebook, Amazon or Google will. Maybe even Apple. CoD is not the problem I bet that trade regulators are going to force Microsoft to keep CoD multi platform to allow the purchase. Only trade regulators will in the end stop Microsoft from buying the whole gaming industry. But it will be equally bad for Sony if any of the other big players purchase those 3 triple A companies. The endgame is the same PlayStation won’t be a able to match those takeovers and they don’t need to. They can still be a profitable gaming company with great IPs.

Re: EA Is the Next Major Publisher Tipped for a Takeover

BadPlayerOne

@TheRedComet So they need to spent around 10 billions to buy Square Enix. The company is public and it is all about money. So just like Microsoft almost doubled the price per share to make the shareholders agree to sell Activision, Sony will have to do the same. I very much doubt it.

Re: EA Is the Next Major Publisher Tipped for a Takeover

BadPlayerOne

Sony can’t buy EA they don’t have the money. Sony’s market value is 160 billion dollar. Microsoft just spend almost half of Sony’s market value to buy Activision. And that’s just pocket money for them. Microsoft has a market value of 2k+ billion dollar. Sony probably can’t even buy Square Enix or Capcom. The only thing that will stop Microsoft from buying the whole gaming industry are trade regulations.

Re: Sony Responds to Activision Blizzard Buyout, Expects Games to Still Come to PS5, PS4

BadPlayerOne

Will you all please stop it now. Everybody knows it’s bad for the gaming industry if Microsoft keeps buying all triple A publishers. But that’s a given and no PlayStation won’t buy one themselves. They can’t, they don’t have the money. Sony has a market value of 160 billion dollar. Microsoft has a 2k+ billion dollar market value. Sony can never match that and they don’t need to. At one point the market regulator’s will jump in. Probably already now because of CoD. CoD is probably to big to make it an Microsoft exclusive. I wouldn’t be surprised that trade regulation will forbid Microsoft buying Activition without the guarantee that CoD stays on multiple platforms. To avoid unfair methods of competition by Microsoft and before anyone screams Sony would have done the same. No they wouldn’t and they never have. Yes they buy other developers etc. but never on the scale Microsoft has. Also because Sony is a to small to play in the big league. Playstation doesn’t need to be number one to be a healthy gaming company. As long as they do their thing they will be fine.

Re: Sony Stock Value Loses $20 Billion, But Will Likely Recover

BadPlayerOne

@Alduin Sony didn’t play dirty. Microsoft had this planned no matter what Sony had done. They do what they have always done they buy everything up no matter the costs because they have unlimited money. Sony can never match this kind of business strategy. It’s not called good business it’s called bullying your way to the top. They can’t beat Sony on the quality of games. So they buy the whole industry. Just like they did with Windows. Sony is the new Apple. They will never be able to counter this. The only hope is that Microsoft will screw up again just like with Windows. By killing any innovations and force gamers to use their ecosystem. Because they will see any kind of innovation as a threat to their business model. My hope is that Sony just like Apple will go their own way and hopefully just like Apple they will come out on top in 20-30 years from now. Sony can’t afford to buy EA, Take-Two or Ubisoft. So they will be bought by Microsoft. Hopefully Sony stays firm and concentrates on what makes them great and that is building strong IPs and use the creativity of independent smaller studios to keep developing awesome games. Let Microsoft have the rest. Like all monopolists in the end they fail.

Re: Xbox Now Owns Legendary PlayStation Series Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon

BadPlayerOne

Who cares what Microsoft owns. Playstation has to do what they have always been doing. Support creativity and built up strong IPs. You don’t need to be number one to make good business. Let Xbox have all the publishers and developers they want. There is no doubt they are going to buy Take-Two, EA and Ubisoft as well. They have the money and the ambition to dominate the gaming industry. Let them have it. It’s like with Windows. At the end what really counts are the games and innovations. Monopolism kills innovation. It’s that simple. Sony will not stop publishing innovative and exciting new games. Xbox will at some point stop making consoles and put everything on game pass. Nintendo has their little ecosystem and doing fine and PlayStation will do the same. I hope they will not try to match Xbox. They should stay on course and ignore Xbox. Edit: Look at Apple and Microsoft. Sony is the new Apple and who is bigger now? Apple.

Re: Poll: How Long Should Games Be?

BadPlayerOne

Depends on the game, if it is an open world or a linear game. I think for linear games between 10-20 hours and maybe up to 30 hours. Open world 50+ but only if the open world is filled with engaging content/side quests. Exploring open worlds should be fun and interesting and not boring. It should aid the overall story of the game and not be filled with useless items or quests. And the areas need to be unique. Also the price tag is important. If it is a cheaper game I don’t expect it to be long, but if I have to spend €80+ I want to be entertained for a while.

Re: PS Plus December 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

BadPlayerOne

To bad Godfall is just the multiplayer part. I wanted to try it out but didn’t want to spent the money due to the terrible reviews it got. But very happy for Mortal Shell. Even though I suck at any Souls like game. I mean I love them, but I am a bad player and can’t seem to finish them. Not enough skills 😵‍💫 Trying now Dark Souls 3. If I can just finish one of them I might convince myself to buy Elden Ring. Because I WANT to play Elden Ring. Maybe Mortal Shell can help me get there as well 🙏🏻😢

Re: The Elder Scrolls 6 Isn't Coming to PS5, But It's Not About 'Punishing Other Platforms'

BadPlayerOne

Honestly who cares? I am a perfectly happy gamer and haven’t played any of the Bethesda’s games. I tried them, but they are just not for me.I tried Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas. They did nothing for me. I tried the Elder Scrolls games again the same thing. I know it’s personal taste, but it really isn’t the end of gamer world that future installments of these games are not coming to PlayStation anymore.

Re: PS3, PS Vita to Remove PS Store Payment Methods

BadPlayerOne

@naruball Assumption? My comment was about existing games not games we would still like to see released on PS Vita. Which will not happen anymore. So at one point you will own every single digital game in the PS store. I guess you can make multiple user accounts and keep buying the games over and over again. Whatever makes you happy.

Re: No Man's Sky Expands Base Building with New Settlement Options

BadPlayerOne

Over the last few years I started playing this game and stopped playing it again and again. I picked it up again after this update and I am hooked. So much so that I abandoned all other games. There are still bugs and stuff I want included but I think this is one of the games that is never finished and that is a good thing!

Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

BadPlayerOne

There is a rumor that Microsoft bought an additional 5 game developers. They will buy as many as they can and not even publishers will be save. This will be the end of the gaming industry as we know it. Sony doesn’t have the funds to counter these takeovers. The next 5-10 years will show if Sony can survive this or if they will at the end vanish.
