Re: Reaction: Xbox Game Pass Is the Thorn in PS5's Side

BadPlayerOne

@Ironman2008 it’s the same strategy Tesla, Amazon and Uber use. Normally companies can’t lose billions of dollars every year, but because they have the funds from investors or in Microsoft’s case from other divisions they can keep it up until the competition can’t anymore. It’s like the complain of Xbox that Sony doesn’t publish all games also on PC like they do. It’s easy talk for Microsoft. For them it’s right pocket and left pocket. If Sony publishes everything immediately also on PC they feed the Monster.

Re: Talking Point: Did Sony Lie About PS5?

We all love PlayStation, but we are also odd people. There was an outcry because Sony said they would close PS Vita, PS3 and PSP Store. Gamers were disappointed that they abandoned those legacy consoles so quickly and now they are trying to show their appreciation to 120 million people buying the PS4. And now they are criticized for that. I am happy they are going to release those games for my PS4. And it will not stop me from buying a PS5 in 2022/3. Go Playstation!

@Rudy_Manchego I think most of us do. The general impression is that most reviewers rate this game poor or mediocre. And of course that doesn’t mean the game experience will be like that for yourself. But, seeing the price tag I can’t buy a game just with the hope it might be good. Hope is often just delayed disappointment. 🤔

Re: Microsoft Reportedly Opening Its Wallet Once Again for $10 Billion Acquisition of Discord

Like I said on a different topic. Microsoft has endless funds. They will buy if necessary the whole gaming industry and everything that is related to it. A publisher like ZeniMax was the beginning soon more publishers will follow. And discord fits the bill and is just another step to take control of the gaming industry. The acquisition of Evo by Sony is pocket money compared to this.

@Hypnotoad107 I still love my Xbox 360. Will never throw it away. I spent uncountable hours playing games on it. But since I own a PlayStation 4 I really know what good games are. Sure Xbox had some nice games, but they are nothing compared to PS exclusives like The Last of Us or Bloodborne or Ratchet and Clank just to mention a few. You cannot replace creativity with huge amounts of money. All those huge acquisitions have not yet created any great AAA games. Even Halo seems to turn into a disaster. I don’t mind for Microsoft to create great games. I even want them to. It stimulates creativity and the more great games we can play the better. But trying to control the complete gaming industry is just not the right way to do it. I play on my PS4, Nintendo Switch. Even my Xbox 360 from time to time. I don’t care as long as I can play good games. It’s all about games.

Re: Outriders Is Going to Be a Commercial Crater on PS5, PS4

@Hypnotoad107 I am not dramatic it’s a cold calculated truth. Microsoft is making big losses with game pass with every game the offer. No other company can take this kind of loss for a longer period of time. But Microsoft can. They can keep this up for years to come. If Sony would join game pass it would be the end of them. Nobody would buy their gaming consoles anymore. Microsoft would then dictate the price Sony game developers would get for their games to be allowed on game pass. The same with independent studios. If they lose the alternative of Sony they would also have to submit to Microsoft to be allowed onto game pass. Game pass is a frontal attack on the gaming community. It’s developed to make all game developers dependent of game pass. And they use this honeypot of a low monthly fee to lure gamers away from the competition to force Sony and other game developers to accept their business concept. The same way Microsoft is still dominating the PC world for decades. Another example is Netscape. It was the best internet browser. Everybody used it. So what did Microsoft do the preinstalled Microsoft Explorer on every Windows version completely integrating it into the Windows system and gone was Netscape. Same idea same result.

Re: Outriders Is Going to Be a Commercial Crater on PS5, PS4

Microsoft can afford it. Their goal is to bleed out the competition the same way Amazon did it and Uber is trying to do it. Those companies have so much financial funds that after a while the competition will fade away. Same will happen here. Sony can’t afford a service like game pass. So we have to accept the truth that in the coming 10 years Sony will go down and Microsoft will dominate the gaming market and maybe with Nintendo being a profitable small gaming company. And after Microsoft destroyed the gaming market with billions of dollars they will without any competition left dictate the prices and what games will be released and also the quality of those games. And the gamers have to accept it due to no alternatives. Sony seems to be a big company, but they are no match against the financial resources of Microsoft. So everyone supporting game pass is actually helping Microsoft to become the Amazon of the gaming industry. I rather pay the 60-80 bucks then to surrender to Microsoft.

Re: The Elder Scrolls, Fallout Developer Bethesda Bought By Microsoft

The only thing PlayStation needs to do is keep making great triple A games and all will be good. And buy from time to time smaller developers to make sure their intellectual property and creativity is protected. No need to buy big publishers. They can’t anyways. Sony will never use game pass. Why should they? Even if Microsoft would own 90% of the game market. As long as PlayStation sells consoles and makes beloved games they are good. You don’t need to be number one to be profitable. Quality over quantity! It’s all about games. I never saw a sack full of money be creative.

Re: The Elder Scrolls, Fallout Developer Bethesda Bought By Microsoft

Nothing changes for me. Not a big fan of the elder scrolls series or fallout. Doom is nice to have, but no disaster if not. Never liked the newer Wolfenstein. I am looking forward to play Miles Morales and Zero Dawn Forbidden West. Hopefully a new Uncharted and TLOU3. If they make elder scrolls and fallout exclusive. Sony will be forced to retaliate. Nobody wants that. I had an Xbox 360. Now PS4 and Nintendo Switch. I will stay with PlayStation and Nintendo Switch not because I don’t like Xbox. But the games I want to play are mainly on PlayStation and the switch is nice for on the go. . It’s all about the games for me. The hardware is just a necessity. Also I like the cheaper VR experience with PlayStation. Microsoft started something stupid with an acquisition like this. It’s good to have exclusives, but independent studios with multi platform games are equally important! Hopefully this doesn’t end in Sony and Microsoft owning most of the studios. We will be the losers being forced to buy both their hardware just to be able to play our favorite games.
