Re: PlayStation Bigwigs Won't Shut Up About PC, Smartphones

AshM

I love playstation and loved my PS4 but like a few others have said I feel it's now all remasters and remakes. Playstation seems to have lost its way a bit. When the PS4 first came out, I was on it at every free second I had. But with ps5 I fine myself searching for motivation to play anything. Also, being charge £70 for a game isn't great either. I love the exclusive games but there hasn't been many since ps5 released.

I questioned about getting a ps5 at release but I pre-ordered as I want to play Ragnarok. If that wasn't announced I am not sure I would've bothered. Recently, invested in a decent gaming pc so been on that more than ps5. I will have both this gen but next gen, if there is another gen of consoles I don't think I will bother.

Re: Rumour: PS Plus January 2022 PS5, PS4 Games Leaked Early

AshM

@theheadofabroom Ok thanks, I will maybe give it a go. I started it up one day but never actually played. Just isn't something I would normally play but as you said might just take a few hours to get into it. Wow 150 hours!! Must be good if you stuck with it for that long

Re: PS Plus April 2021 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

AshM

I have tried Days Gone through the PS Plus Collection. I just can't get into the game. It's not a bad game, I think the controls let it down for me which makes it frustrating at times to play. Looks great on PS5. I didn't play this on PS4. I will certainly be trying Oddworld and Zombie Army though

Re: Soapbox: PSVR's Crap Load of Cables Has Put Me Off

AshM

I had a similar relationship with the PSVR. Plus the entertainment unit wasn't big enough for the break out box as well as the ps4. I quite liked the games I had for it but it was just such a pain to connect it up. I ended up selling this on. Sometimes I wish I still had it for a few of the games that have now been released but I know I would only use it for a few weeks and then it would just be a dust collector.

Re: Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF Good to hear. Especially about the banding. I have been playing Cyberpunk too well almost finished the main missions. It looks ok on my current bravia but I know it could be better. Not played Destiny 2 since forsaken. Again, it looked ok on my current set up but just ok. One of my pals has a Samsung not sure what model but when he played D2 it always looked so much better than my TV. I am still holding out at the minute but mainly cos I haven't really looked much over the holidays. Thanks for the feedback, it's good to know the Sony is a good choice.

Re: Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF I'm still holding out. I would like to go into a store and have another look before I commit to buying but difficult in the current situation.

Re: Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF yeah it was the xh950 or xh900 I was going for. Both out of stock in my local Curry's. I have a notification on both models to look at when I can get back into a store. I'm in Scotland but certainly the two I am looking at. Do you notice much improvement? How is the input lag? I have 49" at the minute but recently moved house to an open plan living room kitchen so looking at either the 55" or even possibly 65" not sure yet. I don't want it too big.

Re: Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF Yeah it does. Loads of videos on YT about the Q90T and calibration. I would like another Sony to be honest. Plus Sony supports Dolby Vision, but the Samsungs don't. I had the x90h on my original list but the x950h looks great too. I'm sure mine has some blooming and banding too but I think I have only really noticed properly a few times since having the tv.

Re: Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF My Sony Bravia is decent too. Oh glad you said the date there as I would've missed it. I thought it was the 27th for some reason. Yeah the Sony x950H and the Samsung Q90T were both on my list. Some great deals for the Sony at the minute.

Re: Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF How are you finding your PS5 on your current TV? Mine isn't too bad really. I'm still tempted but feel better I didn't just jump into getting one.

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF I am glad I am not the only one in this predicament. I am sure when I plug in my PS5 it will look fine so I will hopefully will not give into temptation.

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF Cool. I had mine pre-ordered for a while from Shopto.net. Fingers crossed everyone who pre-ordered one from where ever will get it on the 19th as planned. I am trying to hold out still but I was tempted yesterday 🙈

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF I stupidly went an had a look at TVs and saw how crap mine is. I still haven't bought anything but think I might cave now 🙈 Have you for a ps5 ordered?

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF mine is a 49" bravia from about 2014. The mini led sounds great. I had a look last night. They look expensive though. I will see how it looks when the PS5 arrives. I'm off for just over a week so if it looks crap, I'll just nip up to the local Curry's and see what deals are available. Hopefully it looks decent though.

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF that sounds great. Hopefully the ps5 doesn't look that bad on an older HD TV with no HDR or I might cave and get the Samsung q90t 🙈 I am planning to wait though until at least mid 2021

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@nathanSF had a look at quantum as your said. Think I will do the same as you and try hold off. I have a decent TV but no HDR. I will see how it goes. Thanks again

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@SJBUK I'm not a Costco customer and there isn't one in my town. That would've been a good shout though. I think you have helped me make up my mind more though. I have a Sony Bravia at the minute, this has a lot of reflection and it is just a standard LED. Not sure the OLED would be good for me

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

@SJBUK Thanks for replying. I have been watching Vincent's HDTVTest videos and I have read the reviews on the Rtings.com and flatpanelhd.com but just don't want to make the wrong choice. I am tempted with the OLED. If there was a try before you buy I would be happy. I might hold off a bit longer

Re: The Best 4K TVs for PS5

AshM

I have been looking for a while now and came up with a short list exactly as your top 3. Just concerned I buy the LG CX and have issues with the brightness of the room reflecting into the tv's picture and also as it is an OLED, the screen burn issue.

I am swaying more towards the Samsung QLED 80T model but does anyone how much difference this will compare with the LG for the PS5?

Re: Hands On: The New PS App Is a Humongous Upgrade

AshM

@Zeke68 After seeing your message I just checked the play store and my update was there 🤗 I will check it out later and download the PS plus games. I have PS5 on pre-order so hopefully they get this sorted soon, I am sure they will 😀

Re: PS Plus August 2020 PS4 Games Announced

AshM

I've had a beta play through of Fall Guys. It's really good fun. I was planning on buying this anyway but even better it's in ps plus. I'm not too fussed about MW2 but might play through it again as it was a decent campaign if I remember rightly

Re: Game of the Decade: Destiny Paved the Way for Games as a Service

AshM

I had a love/hate relationship with both Destiny 1 and 2.

Loved being in a fire team and play some strikes with friends. Loved the raids with the same friends trying to figure out how to get through them helping each other out. Made some new friends through both these games that I am still friends with now. For that these games will all be great.

However, hated the fact that I felt I was being ripped off at each DLC release. Having to purchase small DLC's that weren't worth the price tag. Just felt like it was a constant money pit. This ruined it for me.

Re: Soapbox: PS5 Must Introduce Price Parity Across Regional PSN Stores

AshM

I would happily go all digital but the price difference is huge. I got RDR2 on release day for £38 but this was a physical disc. If I had bought this in the psn store I would've paid £59.99. Same with COD MW. I got this the day of release from Argos/Sainsburys and I paid £45 but if I bought it on psn again it would've been £59.99. Until the prices come down on digital, I will buy physical. I do buy digital during sales etc but never new games.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think of Destiny 2: Forsaken?

AshM

I loved D1. I played with people I met randomly who I now play other games with. D1 was always fun and a good laugh. When the expansion packs first came out, I bought the first one. When I played it I felt the lack of content made it a rip off and even more of a rip off when they brought out the next. By the time TTK was released I was sick of it. I didn't buy TTK.

I did buy D2. Now I'm at the stage again of trying to decide whether to go back to the grind. Forsaken looks decent. I'm not going to lie I am tempted but the fact is, having to buy the first 2 DLC's is putting me off. At this moment in time I think I might manage to persuade myself to pass and get Spiderman or possibly Horizon Zero Dawn as I've still not played that.

Re: Review: God of War (PS4)

AshM

I haven't played any GOW games and have a huge backlog of other games. This has caught my eye though, purely cos the story looks interesting. Would I need to play the previous games before playing this?
