Zero competition in Sony's Sphere. Microsoft are more than happy becoming a big money publisher with a niche pc with Xbox branding to calm their loyal fans

No it's not quite that simple , with this IP it's baked in that any sequel or remake needs fromsofts approval first. Stipulation of Sony getting from to make an IP for them in first place. This is why Sony hadn't been able to do anything with such a beloved IP even in the face of massive elden ring success

Worth a try from a business perspective but pc gamers just aren't interested so no point diluting the brand but continuing to put games on pc.

Xbox had always been exclusive and it's got them nowhere except a handful of years during the Xbox 360.
They're not gonna go back to making no money on their big budget games because of a few hard core crazies on the internet.
Best they'll do is what they're doing with Forza 6

Playstation has never had serious competition except the PS3 era via 360 and Wii
Other than that they've always been top dog in this space and the ps1, 2, 4 and 5 eras were/are just fine .

Exclusives won't really add much value to Xbox. They tried this quite aggressively with the likes of starfield, Indiana jones , more halo, more Gears etc etc got them absolutely nowhere against Sony who barely released in house exclusives themselves.

And so marks the final nail in the XBOX confin. May that brand rest in peace.
In it's place rises the sparkly 3rd party publisher

There's actually ton of new ip games on PS5. Playstation have pivoted to what they did in ps1 and PS2 era getting others to make them. rather than PS3 and PS4 era of doing it all themselves

You could have 20 playstation console exclusives in 2026 but because the majority aren't internally developed...they don't count, there's no games.

An interesting experience, more experience than game.

If you want to back up your saves you can use a USB stick or a portable hard drive. In no way do you have to use their cloud service if u don't want to pay

Sony didn't make it a free to play game because by shutting down the servers, ending retail, refunding users, and closing down the developer they can and will/have declare it a tax write off and get a substantial chunk of their money back

They literally said they want to concentrate on anime and games so they obviously zero value in their gaming IP which is fair.
