The problem is gamers sometimes ask for something new a different, so all the big three try it out with small studios like Compulsion about 100 employees.
Then when the games don’t sell and probably loose money the poor studio gets shut down.
And then people keep buying FIFA and COD or some of the big AAA games, that get return on investment for the business.
@UltimateOtaku91 I think like you mentioned about graphics etc, they keep their consoles under control power wise, especially since hybrid switch times or even the Wii. I think they plan we will make this console with this power and cost to sell well, but also to keep development costs down.
As for reusing assets, yes just look at Splatoon raiders it’s existing asset riddled, which sort of spoils it for me, unless there is more to it later in the game.
@Swandivetotheasphalt I can see why AI is being looked into by developers to vastly reduce time and cost in game development. If that’s how much time and cost a new big AAA game costs to make.
@CelestiTek Well I think Astro Bot took 4 years to make and now it’s 2 years old. Considering the engineering and assists etc are all there then depends how far they stray from the formula, maybe 3 years is possible.
I think gears e day would have been a good one for PS5 gang. With a good story driven action packed single player at the helm. Then imagine the visuals on PS5 Pro, crisp to the touch.
@Leinad7 I get what you mean, expecting to see ND intergalactic gameplay if only a little. Then maybe an another first party in development. Yes overall they are not the first party Sony from the PS4 era. Those old shows were fantastic.
I think we need to give it up and it is what it is. It sort of frustrates me but I’m ready to give it up. If you wanna this game or that game, be it PS, XBOX or Nintendo. Then to guarantee it you need to own the console. Forgetting PC for this.
It’s how it has been since I started gaming decades ago.
If an exclusive from another console comes to your only owned console then treat it as a little bonus if you want the game.
Of course it will look best on Pro and to me that’s the said thing about compared to XBOX own console series x.
Trouble is now with gears e day not coming to PS after the original gears then a no show for gears e day. A good few PS5 owners are thinking stuff you Microsoft, we are not buying the remakes for you just to leave us out of the next main game.
Microsoft what can I say.
PS, gears e day would have looked top end in PS5 Pro.
Lots for PS5 and if you include PS5 own exclusives and paid third party exclusives by Sony (waste of time) They dominate the console market if you take the biggest console seller Nintendo out of the equation.
Many games for PS5. Will be interesting to see the sales of Halo on PS5.
I think it’s more like it will say XBOX and PC tonight.
But will come to PS5 and Pro later so doesn’t need to be mentioned at the showcase tonight.
Let’s not forget FH5 sold over 5 million on PS5 and that game is years old.
I think they need a reason to have an XBOX and or game pass on console or PC devices and giving say 6 months or even a year exclusivity give that reason, in their minds.
The problem XBOX taking away any PS5 competition will make Sony even worse than today if that’s possible.
@Swandivetotheasphalt I remember in the PS4 days and early PS5 days getting so excited about uncharted 4, last of us 2, ratchet and clank, Spider-Man 2 and Horizon Forbidden West and GOWR
Now, yes I’m a few years older, but it’s like, ok Wolverine and GOWL, look ok might buy. Maybe the few years being older has numbed my gaming I’m not sure.
@Swandivetotheasphalt I don’t think wolverine will reach Spider-Man heights. Spider-Man is far more popular as a character overall.
Also the wolverine game itself needs to get Spider-Man type reviews and hype as a game to get to Spider-Man sales. I’m not sure it will, I’m pitching the game at high 80s at best, sort of ghost of Yotei levels, the same with the new god of war game.
I think ideas and creativity is being lost the more this generation goes on. Sony single player formula seems also to be running a bit thin.
@get2sammyb And that is some of the reason the cost of the standard game editions have risen. Publishers see the more expensive version is preordered more, so we must have spare money.
Would love to see FH6 get a similar release date and see what game tops the preorder chart then. Would be an interesting in-site to see what way the PS crowd go.
@Gamer83 Extremely sensible from a competition point of view. Since Xbox blew its load and are not up their in console sales with Sony, the market is to singular and Sony can get away with it like £780 for a Pro, by the way amazing top end console.
All companies need extreme competition to be at their best.
@S1ayeR74 Amazing game for me, the journey was incredible at times. But it was critically acclaimed and a 93 on meta. But yep the internet always like to be divided 🤣
They won’t go exclusive or maybe a timed exclusive. When you sell 5 million plus with FH5 on PS beating both Sony studios sales for Astro Bot and more recently Ghost of Yotei in sales on a PS console, especially of a game that has already been made for Xbox and PC and the return on investment is massive. Why would you as now a main publisher and business turn that money down. They are now a massive publisher that has this probably annoying attachment to XBOX hardware and also maybe game pass that they need to sort of keep alive for now, hence Helix.
I think both games will be well received overall. But they won’t be above 89 score wise and critically acclaimed like some of the other very top end Sony studio games. Probably around the ghost of Yotei level. But not the level of: Last of us 2, god of war Ragnarök and Astro Bot.
It is so interesting seeing this changing dynamic from two top Japanese companies.
Many decades ago Japanese companies took the approach of sell at a low price but sell many to saturate the market with the brand and high after sales products, and make a small profit on each item sold.
Fast forward, sell at a higher price but sell less but probably make more profit per unit. Less market saturation and less after sales products.
Was talking to my son after the showcase, and he is looking forward to the game, but he can also tell I am drained out on the Sony formula and same worlds they create now. That’s due to my longer time with Sony than him and my problem.
Sales will tell but I don’t think the latest Sony studio AAA releases sell as high as they used to. Even FH5 sold more than Astro Bot and Ghost of Yotei. Why, I guess because FH5 is new to PS and Say GOY is a sequel and the same Sony formula. So maybe it’s not just me getting tired of Sonys formula and worlds. They could do with some new ip and a refresh of sorts.
@11001100110zero Thinking almost but we will see depending on prices, next generation will just be us gamers who may pay the price for it.
It’s like TVs I spent a fortune but everyone I know won’t spend above a certain amount. Yes they say the picture looks amazing but won’t pay for it. I think next generation maybe along those lines.
@11001100110zero Cheers for the knowledge you are way above my understanding. I think anyway next generation will be so cross generation gaming it will almost blend into one. Meaning there will still be a series x or PS5 version of games probably all next generation, more so than this generation as I think next generation and prices will be a very hard sell to the masses and developers need to get return on investment when producing a game so cross generation gives them that more so.
@GamingGod Nintendo made what has turned out to be a fantastic company strategic decision. Also in the current cost climate just about managed to keep in that general public console cost zone, also with games like Yoshi, Starfox and Splatoon Raiders all releasing at good price points and cheaper when you buy digitally.
Out all the three big guns my money would be on them as things slightly take a turn for the worse in gaming world.
See we are in bubble world of gaming but general public is where the money is. Just look at fortnight etc.

Re: Halo PS5 Poised to Sell Extremely Well, Topping PS Store Charts Around the World
They should have stuck with bringing gears of war over, probably almost finished anyway on PS.
Then there would be less doubt about future Halo games.

Re: Xbox Wants Faster Fallout, Elder Scrolls Games to Bolster Business

With Donkey King Bananza costing about 75 million to make, you can see out of the big three who has cost etc more under control.
Re: Xbox Wants Faster Fallout, Elder Scrolls Games to Bolster Business
@Swandivetotheasphalt
I can see why AI is being looked into by developers to vastly reduce time and cost in game development.
If that’s how much time and cost a new big AAA game costs to make.
Re: Xbox Wants Faster Fallout, Elder Scrolls Games to Bolster Business
@PuppetMaster
I’m not sure how gears e day cost that much.
Are the salary’s super high over at the coalition.
Re: Astro Bot's Little Legs Carry It Back into Japan's Sales Charts
@CelestiTek
Well I think Astro Bot took 4 years to make and now it’s 2 years old.
Considering the engineering and assists etc are all there then depends how far they stray from the formula, maybe 3 years is possible.
But in today’s rules probably 5 to 6 years.
Re: Even with PS5 Ports, Many of Xbox's Games Have Been Underperfoming
It’s no different if Nintendo ported say Mario tennis fever to PS and XBOX it may sell a few.
But if they released the next Mario 3d across PS and XBOX it would sell millions.
A great is a great game no matter what platform you try to sell it on and a not so great game with not much general appeal is not.
No different to third party publishers.
Re: Even with PS5 Ports, Many of Xbox's Games Have Been Underperfoming
You find if they sell bad on Xbox or PC etc they well sell bad on PS.
FH5 did very well on all platforms.
It would be the same for PS games on Xbox.
Spider-Man 2 would sell very well but Saros would not.
A great game is a great game that appeals to sales and some are not.
Re: Astro Bot's Little Legs Carry It Back into Japan's Sales Charts
Really hope we get an Astro BOT 2
Re: Fascinating PS5 Sales Estimates Peg Ghost of Yotei as a Triumph
Well done GOY.
Surprised at DS2 after all the hype and credit it gets, definitely doesn’t equal sales, probably not as good as the hype and a bit niche.
Surprised at Saros, just expected higher sales.

Re: As Xbox Returns to Exclusives, Halo Remake Embraces PS5 with PS5 Pro Gameplay Trailer
@MrStark
I have not a problem with Xbox having exclusives and PlayStation.
Perhaps it’s an Xbox tactic.
Give PlayStation gears remake and halo remake.
Then the next big main game make it Xbox exclusive and hope some may buy an Xbox console. Maybe???
Re: Halo PS5 Collector's Edition Instantly Sells Out, and for Good Reason
@Dodoo
I think PS5 owners should not buy Halo remake.
Microsoft gave PS gears remake, then left PS out of the new game, gears e day.
So now Microsoft want you to buy Halo remake and then may leave PS out of the next Halo main game.
That is a bit of a sting.
Re: As Xbox Returns to Exclusives, Halo Remake Embraces PS5 with PS5 Pro Gameplay Trailer
@Bluetrain7
Yep I put that in my post lower down.
Such mixed messaging from Microsoft.

Give it a year and gears e day might turn up.
It is a shame as the PS5 Pro version would have shined if done well.
Re: Halo PS5 Collector's Edition Instantly Sells Out, and for Good Reason
@Dodoo
We thought that with gears going to PS, but gears e day is not.
So let’s all work that one out 🤣
Re: Future Xbox Exclusivity Will Be 'Case-by-Case', PS5 Ports Will Be Revealed Alongside Release Dates
Let’s chill gamers.
We get what we get and don’t get what we don’t get.
Just imagine if all three of the bigs where doing the same as XBOX some exclusive some not, the gamers brains would explode 🤣
Re: Round Up: All the PS5 Reveals from the Xbox Showcase 2026
@LiamOliver
Halo games are not normally buggy.
Though it is their first time with unreal engine and UR5.
I would expect the PS5 Pro version to shine the best though, then series x, then PS5, then series s.
Of course not counting PC.

Noticed COD at second place and the vault edition. And 5th for normal edition.
It just never ends with that game 🤣

Re: PS5 Price Hike Has Flushed UK Hardware Sales Down the Toilet
Let’s all not forget Video Gaming still brings in the highest yearly revenue in the entertainment business.
It’s not all doom and gloom, but there is a definite rough batch with prices and some direction the three main stakeholders holders have taken.
Re: Switch 2's Price Hike Saves PS5's Blushes in Japan

I think next generation will be far more interesting, especially if prices and the cost of living are still terrible.
Gaming has taken a really bad turn this generation the further this generation has gone on.
I mean are we getting PS5 pro £900 and base PS5 disc £750 next year, who knows.
Re: PS5 Price Hike Has Flushed UK Hardware Sales Down the Toilet
I hope Asha is taking notes.
Price and AAA exclusivity counts.

Re: Xbox Will Show PS5 Logos at Showcase, But May Adjust Moving Forward as Execs Publicly Contradict Each Other
It’s all PR, XBOX games will not be exclusive and most will be day one PlayStation.
Nothing is changing.
The whole set up with Helix PC is even built that way in their strategy not to have exclusives.
There is no XBOX console version of games going forward with Helix it is a PC version of the game. And they will also make PS and Nintendo versions.
Just think COD but with all XBOX games.
Re: Despite Uncertainty Over Exclusivity, Xbox Will Still Show PS5 Logos at Showcase
Of course they are not going exclusive, nothing has really changed except a little price drop to Gamepass in a weird way and some PR.
Re: When Is PlayStation's State of Play for June 2026?
@GamingGod
Nintendo made what has turned out to be a fantastic company strategic decision.
Re: Sudden Steam Deck Price Increase Pins More Questions on PS6
Gaming is slowly pricing itself out of the mass general public market.
We have entered the era of sell less but charge more per unit and make profit.
Rather than sell more cheaper but make less profit per item but because you sold more you still the same amount of profit.
In other words do less, makes less but make the same profit.
A total difference to sell as many as you can and make a small profit on each unit but increase your main console owner base.
Re: 007 First Light Tech Analysis Reveals Just How Far Ahead PS5 Pro Is
