You'd think side-scrolling puzzle platformers have done it all, but new ones come along every now and then to prove otherwise.

MotionRec, from indie dev HANDSUM, is an interesting case; you can record specific movements and then play them back later, allowing you to traverse otherwise impossible obstacles.

The game was featured in Sony's State of Play Japan broadcast:

For instance, you can record yourself walking across solid ground, and then play that recorded gameplay back to cross a gap further into the level.

The game seems to be about exploring the stage and finding opportunities to record just the right snippets of action to help you get further.

We really like its cute, pixelated art style too.

The game is coming to PS5 in Spring 2026, so it's just a few months away.
