FromSoftware announced its major Elden Ring Nightreign expansion during Sony's own State of Play Japan livestream today. Available for PS5, PS5 from 4th December 2025, it's called The Forsaken Hollows, and you can catch a glimpse in the trailer above.
The DLC will introduce two new character classes and two additional bosses to fight. The fresh Nightfarers are called the Scholar and the Undertaker, with the PlayStation Blog offering a brief explanation of the two:
- Scholar
- An academic who walks the Lands Between. Boasting impressive arcane levels, he gains incredible advantages through battlefield observation.
- Undertaker
- An abbess who was mandated to slay the Nightlord. Boasting impressive strength and faith, she sends enemies to the afterlife with ruthless efficiency.
The new bosses aren't detailed, but there will also be a new Shifting Earth map event to investigate. The Great Hollow opens up a "great cavity in the depths of Limveld. The hollow is strewn with exotic ruins and temples; sacred towers denoting the remains of an ancient people; and crystals that exude a cursed, life-draining miasma."
Anyone who bought the Deluxe Edition of the game gets the DLC included with their purchase, but you can still upgrade your copy and get The Forsaken Hollows DLC if you only own the base game now.

Looks brilliant. I did spot Artorias in the trailer so he'll be a boss somewhere. It's also quite amusing that he's a skin for Wylder so you already know I plan on fighting Artorias as Artorias.
The two new characters sound fun and I'm super hyped to see my man Artorias return.
Also Shadow of the Erdtree content is coming as well. Can't wait.
I stopped playing a while ago
@MJF I wish they would just put their time and effort into elden ring 2 or whatever From's next soulsbornes is gonna be. I've been itching to play a new soulsborne done by the masters themselves
@StitchJones "make Duskbloods a traditional souls game, please"
@MJF Yeh snap on this...
I'm delighted that people our there are enjoying Nightreign... but for me personally, this is not the kind of output that I want out of FromSoft. I appreciate that the Elden Ring IP is a huge cash-maker for From, but I just really hope they don't end up milking it with a ton of spinoffs and side-projects (squeezing every drop out it, similar to SE and their handling of FF7)
I'd love to see From do something new and exciting in the single-player space, genuinely really enjoyed Armored Core 6 a couple of years back.
Duskbloods has me intrigued, but cautiously tempering my expectations.
@Kairuuu what is this game? I’ve heard of it but don’t really know what it is? Basically Elden Ring multiplayer?
@x3King84 It's not multiplayer, more of a roguelite in a sense and you can play as a solo, duo, or trio. You visit different POIs to fight different enemies/bosses to level up and get better weapons and gear during the day, then the ring of night closes in (like a battle royale, admittedly) and you then fight a boss at night. The cycle repeats then until after you defeat the boss night two, then you fight your chosen Nightlord. If you beat the Nightlord, that's a successful run and you get some rewards and relics for doing so.
It's much faster paced than Elden Ring but it still keeps the core flow of the combat.
@CJD87 The Duskbloods is a PvPvE game so you'll be disappointed if you're expecting another mainline FromSoft outing. I personally enjoy the new direction they've taken with Nightreign and I'm excited to see what they do with The Duskbloods because it shows that FromSoft can do offer something different whilst keeping the same core elements that fans enjoy.
I can completely understand why that doesn't appeal to everyone though.
@CJD87 ok - here me out.
if they want me to play Nightreign, then go ahead and monetize TF out of it.
Let me play as Squall. Or as my fortnite skins.
Lol.
That would be my only desire to play it at this point.
