May 2019's PlayStation Plus games have been revealed, and we won't beat around the bush -- the lineup's gone down like a lead balloon. PlayStation's official channels have been battered with a tidal wave of negativity, but as always we want to know what you think.
Are you happy with May's selection? Which game are you most looking forward to playing, if any? Vote in our polls and then feed us your most honest opinion in the comments section below.

They're good games, but the value just isn't there anymore. Which would be easier to justify if they hadn't also boosted the cost of PS Plus. Yes, you can get it cheaper if you shop around, but the point still stands.
I'm not into these games at all. As far as I'm concerned this selection is extraordinarily poor, and I'd even go as far as to say it's the worst of this year for me.
This is first or second year PS4 PS Plus quality. That was fine when the console was first out and didn't have many games, but it's different now and there is a huge selection.
This is a very disappointing month.
Developers still get paid when there game is on PS+. I don't know if it's a lump sum or goes by how many downloads tho?
Never usually one to moan about the selections but I haven't downloaded last months and really doubt I'll end up playing any of these two either 🤔 it's a common moan but these games are always in the sales, really no excuse to sell them off cheap time and time again (making people more likely to jump) then give them away for nout. Plus definitely needs a rethink
I can't believe people are looking forward the most for a waking sim than Overcooked at least that's a game the other not so much
Oh gosh, I'm so mad at this month's meagre PS Plus offering I think I'll dislike any news about it. That'll show 'em.
Dropping from six to two just doesn’t sit well regardless of value due to the expectations they have built.
I’d like for them to go to 3 PS4 games and 1 PSVR game.
Why would you not add PSVR knowing that it can only help the sales of VR units?
Not remotely interested in Overcooked, but I've been on the fence about Edith Finch for a while, having enjoyed other similar games, so I'll probably grab that.
I'm still getting enough from my sub to justify it over the full year, so I'm okay with it. But then, I'm paid up for the next few years anyway thanks to Amazon's Black Friday deals. I barely took any PS3 or Vita titles when they were included anyway, so personally I don't feel like I've lost any value.
@Splat As far as I know the developers get paid per game "sold" its why you have to go through checkout procedure even though there free so Sony have the data of how many copies were "sold"
@NintendoFan4Lyf That's some good port begging.
As for now, I would gladly switch to a cheaper psplus without game, only the multiplayer allowance
Edith Finch is great and a perfect choice for a PS+ freebie.
I’m kind of surprised they haven’t been putting PSVR games on since they dropped the PS3/Vita games but I guess they don’t want to put the biggest sellers out there for free but equally don’t want to put an utter dross game out there instead.
We got metal gear survive this month, so I think it's okay.
@Shepherd_Tallon
PS+ started on PS3 and when the PS4 came out there was launch PS4 PS+ games.
So maybe we will get PS5 games.
@NintendoFan4Lyf and in 2 months time It'll be added to PS Now
Edith Finch is totally worth a play, don’t listen to the naysayers who use ‘walking simulator’ as a derogatory term. I’ve been interested in Overcooked for a while so if I enjoy it, I can always pick up the sequel.
Im fine with it. People expect too much. You pay to play online. Free games are a plus. No pun intended
I played Overcooked on Xbox a few months ago (either GwG or game pass, I can’t remember) and I’m not really into “walking sims” so Edith Finch is a pass from me. So personally speaking, a pretty crap month 😕
Quite looking forward to edith finch! Only other walking sim I've played is firewatch and I loved it. Hopefully going to have a day off work for time back from weekend working and play it in one sitting.
I cant even remember the last time I downloaded a game that was on PS+ and it'd have to be something very special for me to do so, this is mainly due to having so many games to play that I've bought and simply not having the time for any others. The main reason I still subscribe is like @Neolit said, for the amazing discounts attached to it and every year I more than make my money back
@Splat I would always checkout all vita and ps3 games in addition to ps4, haven't touched a vita in a while and no interest in going back to ps3 but if I own* them then maybe I'll be able to stream them to PS5 in the future. Probably not.
I think the games are solid, but I don't think we'll have a "good" month until we get more games again. This is just being gipped so far. I think indie multuplayer games are some of the best Plus offerings there are personally.
I'm going to download and see for myself what remains of edith finch.i know she's white. I prefer black woman.but I will see what remains of her for sure☺.word up son
@Shepherd_Tallon Resogun and Contrast were both free on PS plus on launch day of PS4.
Just a reminder. What Remains of EF was in most outlets’ discussions for Game of the Year in 2017 (and we all remember how incredibly stacked 2017 was with Horizon and Zelda). Notably it won “best narrative” at the Game Awards and Game Developers Choice Awards. It won “Best Game” at the British Academy Games Awards and “Best Gameplay” for the Games for Change Awards. Not to mention a 10/10 on our beloved Push Square.
Calling it a garbage throwaway walking sim is underselling it slightly, to say the least.
I realize the cash value is not what people want, but don’t throw the baby out with the bath water on this people. If you’re a true gaming enthusiast like me and want to experience the best this hobby has to offer in the very limited time that we all have, then you can’t go wrong my devoting 3 hours of your time with this gem.
I’m not saying everyone is guaranteed to like it, but I think people are blinded a little bit by the game’s price.
Problem with only 2 games
You could have one, both or not like them. With 3,4 or 5 games from last years offerings (Don't forget many of the Vita giveaways were cross play.) this was never the case. You always had a new game to play.
I’ve really wanted to play What Remains of Edith Finch for a while, but I just never got around to making a purchase. So, I’m honestly pleased to have the opportunity to experience the game for free.
personally, i think they should just ditch the games entirely, and reduce the fee (say £29.99 year, £9.99 for 3 months, or £3.99 for 1 month) for online multiplayer and the cloud storage. even if they'd offered far cry new dawn and sekiro this month there'd still be people unhappy or non-plussed.
It sounds like I'm saying it on purpose to wind people up, but I'm very happy with the games offered.
Can't be denied, though - upping the price and then reducing the content is bad practice in any business
Happy for people that get value out of plus. I personally only have time for the games I buy. I get the odd discount as I only buy digital. And I get a pretty smooth online experience. So I'm still happy with my lot.
I mean, it's not like either is some random indie game that nobody has ever heard of.
I'm curious about Edith Finch, but I won't pretend to be enthused about the selection.
It will be interesting to know if Sony is paying developers less per download than it used to. Of course you can pick up a good game for 4 pounds in the sale and a bad game for £60 on release day. It does feel like they’re playing with the smaller budget.
One of the day one PS4 PlayStation plus games was Contrast which was cross gen having come out on PS3 first. I expect many of the first PlayStation five PlayStation plus games to be the same, PlayStation five versions of games that released earlier on previous platforms.
They will probably have two PlayStation five Games and two PlayStation four games with you being able to play the PlayStation four games on PlayStation five but not the PlayStation five games on PlayStation four.
You used to be able to add the PlayStation 4 game to your library from the PlayStation three. I expect them to do that again to give people an incentive to upgrade.
@bindiana @Sirtoby @Shepherd_Tallon
I dont think its very good but Im not going to whine about it on the internet. A yearly suscription comes down to 5 euro a month and I still think its well worth it. A few times a year I get something I really want and a few times I play something I would otherwise never have played. Also you get online services and often discounts in the ps store.
No. The lucky dip of PS Plus just isn’t working out for me anymore. The games they are giving away are less appealing and there are less of them. Some months used to be bad with the PS4 games, but would have a decent Vita game (usually playable on PS4) that would pick up the slack. I’m truly disappointed that they took away the Vita and PS3 games at the same time as making the PS4 giveaways worse as well. Plus is all about online now.
@SegaBlueSky totally agree. The value has decreased.
For years I was saying Sony should drop PS3/Vita support so the budget could go to PS4 but while they’ve dropped PS3/Vita they seem to have pocketed the budget instead!
As I don’t play MP and have a backlog as long as my arm I let me PS+ sub expire. Don’t really feel I’m missing out on much tbh...
Not for me sadly.
I have absolutely zero interest in Edith Finch or Overcooked.
It having a stellar review score doesn't change that fact.
To put this in perspective, I had zero interest in Horizon, still have zero interest in Horizon and wouldn't play it were it free.
So from a personal standpoint it's a poor showing this month.
That being said, it's nice to see Indies getting the credit they sometimes deserve, rather than bashed because they are Indies.
The value of plus, however you look at it has most certainly declined given an increase in price and decrease in returns.
If you played 100 hours a week online and it was the sole reason you have plus, you now pay more for the same service, that's a value decrease.
Hopefully this will translate into a better service going forward.
Im playing gone home now really loving it. And Edith Finch i bought it from 8bit on disc. 😆
I've seen worst, so yeah.
We all know the hate for Plus was the same when we had Vita and PS3 games given or the surprise PSVR game . They didn't want the games, they didn't want to pay for multiplayer most of all they don't want to pay for PS-Plus.
Very poor month in my opinion, reducing the content and upping the price leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
I voted played both already because of no option to vote played one with no interest in the other.
I voted not very happy because there is nothing i want this month. Edith Finch i like, but i already purchased it.
Im not unhappy with the quality of games on offer, i am unhappy about the amount of games and value for money these games represent.
„This is 4 the Players„
So thank you Sony for not knowing what Players want.
Thank you for your ignorance and emty words.
And thank you for your courage of knowing better.
So Sony, look at this poll, look at all the polls and comments on the net.
And unterstand that you should thank us,
the Players
I am 100% happy because I haven't had PS PLUS for nearly a year now and I don't miss it I am not hating on PS PLUS it's just I never play online so I don't really need it really(thank GOD because I am not a fan of all these subscription services and I avoid all of them) + Maybe SONY should offer say 2 PS NOW Games each month to play to??? Then after the month is over the games are gone and you get 2 New ones etc etc (+ that would boost interest in it's Streaming Games to)
I pay for PS plus to play online - and these free games don't effect whether or not I pay to play online.
I almost never like the games that are free. I have never discovered something there and then loved it.
But I've been meaning to try Overcooked, so that's cool.
PS+ is a strange thing for me. I very rarely play online so that aspect of it is pointless for me, yet every so often a game will come along that I want to play online - like at the moment, I'm planning to play RE5 co-op with a friend - but then you're in a weird position of only wanting a month's sub yet knowing you're overpaying by quite a lot compared to buying a year's sub. And yet you don't want a year's sub since it's just a few weeks of online - or do you, lol? What if later down the line you get another hankering for a rare bit of online gaming?
That makes me think they should make it the same cost regardless of the length of the sub, though obviously they won't as they want to hook you into paying for more than you really want/need. Then you have the games; for £50 a year, all it takes is about 2 games you want and you've at least broken even. But many months can come and go without a desirable game coming along. That makes it feel like gambling, like you're throwing £50 into a void in the hope that a game you want will randomly appear, or that you'll happen to be in the mood for online gaming in the next 12 months to a substantial enough degree to be worth the money.
tl;dr, it needs work.
I would never have considered buying a walking simulator however after playing everyone's gone to the rapture (which was a plusgame) I'm intrigued to see if Edith finch can live up to the hype and be as good as the above
@playstation1995 I hardly see what that comment has to do with the article at hand. Please be mindful of your comments.
@Tasuki well said, bit random from @playstation1995 not like him
@QualityGeezer it is 4/20, after all...
