It's topped the charts in the UK, Australia, and various other European nations – and now Sony has confirmed that the new Ratchet & Clank game is the fastest selling entry in the franchise globally. The title – which launched at a lower price than its predecessors – has scooped up a slew of accolades from both press and fans since its release earlier in the month.
The movie's also out now, which, admittedly, is not off to a flying start – but we have heard some kind words from close fans. We'll have a review of the film live later today, so look out for that. Have you played the game based on the movie based on the game yet? Are you planning to see the cinematic adaptation at some point this weekend? Glad they've managed to ratchet the sales up a notch. Shame it sounds like the film is a load of old clank.
I think its partly because the game looks great, appeals to new and old fans and doesn't have the competition the old games had. Its helped that we seem to be in an era where 'gaming' is very popular. Maybe because kids that grew up gaming are now adults and own console(s) and their children game too.
@Morrowbie 8/10.
Excellent news! So glad the game is doing well,hopefully this means they will be making more Ratchet games.
The game is fantastic although to be honest I haven't played too much as I'm trying to finish my other games so I can clear some space ( 500gig memory is a joke)
I was interested in the film but now I think I'll just wait till it ends up on Netflix
I love the game so far Never played the original so great for me
Anyway...The hype for Uncharted is growing and growing so this game is helping me calm down a bit xD
Well deserved.
I quite enjoyed the movie, even though my R&C knowledge was quite limited. To be totally honest, after seeing the movie I went out and purchased one of the games. Lol. THEIR NEFARIOUS PLAN TO STEAL ALL OF MY BOLTS HAS WORKED!
It's a good time to be a Ratchet fan.
It's a great start, hopefully it'll keep the momentum. I'd love to see a brand new entry in the series on PS4.
Cheap entree point and a well known name.
Perfect combination. Now lets see if other companies follow suit.
@Wazeddie22 best thing I ever did was buy a 1tb hybrid drive on sale for $60 a little over a year ago. If you can justify it I strongly recommend upgrading the HD.
Honestly I think the best thing they did was releasing it at $40. I know of so many people on my friends list who bought it because of how cheap relatively it is. I even grabbed a few $20 psn cards so my younger cousins could buy it.
Such a good game. Loved it.
@BigDaddyT0101 Cheers for the recommendation.I was hoping Sony would of brought out an external hard drive by now because I for one am unsure about taking my ps4 apart but it's just getting ridiculous now that I'm deleting stuff I would rather not!
Good, I hope more 3D platformers come to PS4. Crash Bandicoot?
@Grawlog It's a remake.
@Grawlog It's a remake, it's not a reboot.
@Grawlog Okay but in this case it's not a reboot since it's basically the same game with better visuals.
@Grawlog @VanillaLake Yeah, it's conjecture - headline should probably read "remake". I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but I've sort of been assuming that a sequel would build upon the foundations of this story.
As for whether we'll get a sequel for this one, there's nothing confirmed. But considering it's selling so well, I don't see why we wouldn't...
@get2sammyb I also think a new Ratchet & Clank game or remake is likely to happen. In any case, it would be good for PS4 if it gets some old-school cartoon platform and even racing games. It makes its library more varied, too.
Loving the game and I'll be taking my step son to see the movie, on my second play through and just trying to upgrade all my weapons. I think this has shown there is a great desire for these types of games, at one point the market was flooded with them but now we seem to have gone the other way so hopefully we can get some sequels. Maybe this will encourage others to have another go, Jak and Daxter anyone? Or at least the rumoured Knack sequel will see the kind of quality they should be aiming for
