Arno's adventure will continue next week, as Ubisoft is readying the release of Assassin's Creed Unity's first expansion pack, Dead Kings. The post-launch content was originally intended to be a premium offering, but following the title's buggy launch, everyone will receive the add-on for free. Season Pass owners were given the option to obtain one complementary title as compensation, too.
This author finished the Parisian escapade over Christmas, and has no idea what was going on in the story, so you won't find any spoilers here. All we can say is that the DLC takes place after the events of the main plot, and sees the protagonist whisked away to Saint Denis, where you'll find an underground city, riddled with new enemies, known as Raiders.
There'll be a whole new mini-campaign to work through, as well as bonus open world activities, including murder mysteries, co-op missions, and – sigh – Nostradamus enigmas. You'll also get access to a lantern, as well as a new weapon: the Guillotine Gun. Any gear that you do unlock will be compatible with the core game as well.
The content's due out on 13th January in North America and 14th January in Europe. You can watch the slick cinematic trailer below, which we're sure will look nothing like the actual content itself. so even though I don't have the season pass I still get it free?
@FullbringIchigo
correct. if you own the game, you get the content free as an apology from Ubi.
@FullbringIchigo Yes, season pass owners got a game free.
On topic Im genuinely looking forward to this!
I played only a handful of hours, after which I completely forgot about this game. time to get back to France for me.
I'm also looking forward to it. I got weirdly addicted to Unity over Christmas.
@get2sammyb can't wait for this, unity is a lot of fun. Glad to see you are enjoying it now!
Looking forward to it! Maybe this will revitalize my want of 100%ing Unity as I tend to do with majority of AC titles.
I never left, definitely psyched for the dlc.
Ah. I just finished unity this past week and just started DA:I. After I'm done with dragon age maybe I'll give this a quick tour of it's any good before moving on to mordor or birth by sleep.
Looks awesome am well into Unity at the mo think I'm close to the end so this will be just in time! Didn't like Unity when I first started playing the something just clicked... Can't get enough of it now! Weird!
Thought the main missions in Unity were pretty poor, especially when compared to AC 2 or one of the better entries. That makes me lacking in interest for this DLC even if it is free. I hope there's more variety than the main game.
While the devs made a beautiful looking playground in Paris, they forgot to include anything fun to play on...
I'll get this, but I plan to sell Unity as soon as I've played Dead Kings.
Liked the game a lot so I'm also looking forward to this. By chance is that 2D AC game based in China also going to be free?
I didn't really enjoy the story's campaign but did enjoy some of the missions. I hope Dead Kings has a more unique story to tell.
How is AC:Unity now bugs wise? one of the main reasons I didn't buy it, because of how buggy it was.
@banacheck its still runs like garbage awful frame rate. Even after 4 PATCHES!!
It makes me laugh ....Even The staff cant agree on this one. It seems
Sammy b says he's really addicted to it.(which i can understand) if youre blind to horrendous frame rate issues.
However i tend to agree with, R. Ramseys opinion . The game is a horrific mess performance wise. His review was and still is spot on.
