Proving yet again that the Christmas break is nothing but a pipedream, Square Enix has released a ton of new information about Final Fantasy XV. The hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 role-playing game took centre stage at Jump Festa – a long running convention that’s taking place in Japan this weekend. The video introduces new towns, characters, and boss fights, so let’s get down to it.

Firstly, you may have heard earlier in the week about the addition of a new female character to the cast. This is Cindy, who, in addition to being inappropriately dressed, will act as the game’s main mechanic – presumably if your car breaks down. Apparently, she won’t play a pivotal part in the story, but you will be returning to her regularly to pimp your ride.

The other major thing revealed in this clip is the city of Restarg. Remember when the publisher claimed that it was impossible to render towns on high definition machines? Well, it seems like it’s pulled it off. This open world location will boast various shops, eateries, and hotels, as well as the opportunity to participate in events.

Rest will be particularly important in the forthcoming foray, as going three or more days without sleep will prevent you from using buffs. You’ll also need to nap to level up, so setting up a camp fire or travelling to a bed sit will be a necessary use of your time. Days will last about an hour in real time, with 45 minutes of daylight and about 15 minutes of night.

Finally, speaking during a live stream, director Hajime Tabata explained that both English and Japanese voices will be included in the title’s forthcoming Final Fantasy Type-0 HD demo, but this may not be possible in the final retail release due to European language and timing issues. He added that the company hopes to eventually deploy a version with all voiceovers included.

We’ve embedded the trailer below, which is well worth a watch. In addition to more comical voice acting, it also includes a glimpse of a new titan boss, which has shades of God of War about it. Are you still looking forward to this title after over eight years of anticipation? Ride shotgun in the comments section below.
