Whether or not you think that it’s an embarrassing indictment of the state of the PlayStation 4’s post-launch lineup, there’s little doubt that The Last of Us Remastered is the next-gen console’s most important release since inFAMOUS: Second Son earlier in the year. As such, Sony has pledged some serious marketing muscle behind the remake – and here’s one of the television spots that it intends to use.
Uploaded to PlayStation Nordic’s official YouTube channel – potentially prematurely – the advertisement shows 30 seconds of the port's picturesque visuals. There’s a mix of pre-rendered and realtime cut-scenes here, though the character models are so heavily upgraded that the differences are much less pronounced this time around. The contrast also appears to have been tweaked, but that may just be the encoding on the video.
All the same, we reckon that this should have a reasonable impact when it airs in Europe later this month. It’s a short trailer for sure, but it definitely gets across the appeal of Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed survival horror escapade. Irrespective, this is 100% on my purchase list. Anyone that hasn't played this and owns a PS4 just pick it up. I promise, you will not be disappointed.
Proudly rebuying this game.
Haven't played this at all, yet...I so want to play this, but I'm broke. Might try to scrape some money together anyway...who needs food, right?
Besides, it's "only" 45,- € on the German PSN store, so I might be going digital for this one...it's 10,- bucks cheaper than the disk version, that's something, at least.
@Reverend_Skeeve
The struggle. I know that feel.
I usually just sell games, even though I don't like to.
If the graphics look substantially better, I might play it again once I get a PS4 this holiday.
@SecondServing Indeed. That's what I do, normally...I just have no more games I'd care to sell, though. Every game I own I want to keep and replay at a certain point.
Guess I'll just have to wait until I can afford it anyway.
Well, it's in native 1080p and runs smoother at 60fps in contrast to the PS3 version that ran at 30...and the textures are supposed to be upgraded and high-res...guess we'll see in two weeks or so...
@SecondServing Always believe in the Naughty Gods!
Looks great. A shame there's no gameplay but at least they avoided the spoilers this time XD
I hope they promote it well to. It deserves it this game( + i am hoping it moves sh*t loads of PS4's to)
I see no difference with the PS3 version
Looking at barren july and august for retail release of ps4 of course i will looking forward to play this till finish completely
Greatness is here.
Meh, Sony creating negative image of remastered indie machine around ps4. I really hope people will not buy that. But my hope is pointless because people are zombies.
The few in-gameplay clips actually look better than the cutscenes.
Although it could just be that the cutscenes have a little fuzz added to them intentionally.
@Savino How about the best versions of all multi-platform games? There is nothing which has been released on both new systems about which XB1 can brag about there version over the PS4. To the contrary, they all look better and run smoother on the PS4.
And, if that doesn't float your boat any, keep your PS3 and/or 360. They're both still great systems.
I'm ready! I'm ready now!!
@Gemuarto are you serious or just trying to sound like trolling for fun? XD
They are so many people waiting for this game (which is the only remastered by Sony so far) that it justified on that alone if need be, other teenage fanboy could go on and on about why this game is worth remastered. I won't buy it straightaway but still happy to pick it up later on for cheaper.
Never played this. Every time I'm waiting for a game it seems like it takes longer for it to come out. Glad the destiny beta hits this week. It will definitely help pass the time.
@N711 I am not serious. But I don't like some Sony's "underground" marketing behind it =).
Personally, I don't want to buy game I beat 2 or 3 times and platinumed. Sad that they didn't add something new to it. Some levels, more story, weapons, even enemies and setera. Basically it is The Last of Us Game of the Year edition. So, it is annoying to see news or some info about it almost every day.
@Gemuarto there's something new to it (for me anyway) beside the fact that its better looking (to what extend is personal opinion) its 60fps which makes a huge difference acoording to the devs and it has all the DLC I never downloaded so its actually a better game with more content for cheaper
Can't wait Sony needs to announce a bundle
Idk if I should get a PS4 this week or wait and see if US gets a Last of us Ps4 bundle
Improved graphics alone aren't enough for me to buy the game again, it was hardly ugly on the PS3. However I know people who missed out on TLOU by their previous affiliation to Xbox, and they should be immensely excited for this.
I'm selling my ps3 version to my mate who hasn't played tlou I keep telling him how awesome it is I cannot wait to get this for ps4 it's probably my favourite game last gen. Even the music on this trailer gives me the feels.
Well I'll obviously need to see it in motion but going of raw images, gifs and this Youtube video (I know never use Youtube as a comparison) the game isn't looking leaps and bounds over the PS3 version just a bit clearer/brighter with better draw distances. TLOU (for me) is not a good enough experience to justify buying the game again on PS4 (when I get one) just to experience 60fps, I just hope Naughty Dog get back to form with UC4.
Hmm, I wonder if there will be NEW DLC only for the ps4 version in the future? That is the only reason I would rebuy this game.
@Savino
Completely agree with you! I'm not buying a PS4 until something truly new comes out that can't be played elsewhere. I don't mind playing inferior versions of games, so my PS3 is still getting a lot of love.
Also, my Wii U and 3DS have been keeping me really busy.
@readyletsgo I just read that there will be new DLC in the future that'll only be available on the PS4, so...
@Reverend_Skeeve I hope it's single player DLC, no intrest in online multiplayer DLC at all. Or just make TLoU2
@readyletsgo Agreed. I wouldn't bother to buy the multiplayer DLC if it wasn't already included anyway, so I hope for some more story stuff as well. Or a sequel.
Since when did remake mean remastered? Crack up that hype machine Sony...
Double-dipping FTW!
@voodoo341 I think when the native resolution is cranked up from 720p to 1080p, the frame rate doubled, the textures in a 4-times-as-high resolution, lighting and draw distance improved and character models have more polygons, you can in all fairness speak of a remastered edition of a game...of course, it's also always fancy pr-speak, but in this case I feel it's fairly justified.
@Reverend_Skeeve they cranked up nothing more than a port and yet expect people who bought the game less than a year ago to pay full price for it again. You might be happy with that but plenty aren't.
