People have been pretty harsh on developer Nihilistic Software, but it turns out that the studio may have actually worked miracles in order to release Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified at all. According to reliable online super sleuth Supererogatory, the PlayStation Vita exclusive shooter was developed in just five months – which explains why Sony only had a logo to show at E3 back in June.
“They didn't really start development until around when Resistance: Burning Skies shipped, and wrapped up early last month. So May to October,” said the spy.
The circumstances surrounding Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified are hazy, but there’s some speculation that Sony licensed the brand from Activision and hired Nihilistic to build the game. Either way, the whole situation has ended in tears – Nihilistic has been forced to change its name to nStigate, while the handheld shooter currently commands a Metacritic rating of 29. Sigh.

Wow i was expecting Black Ops Declassified save the vita but with this Metacritic score.........
Very embarrassing. They knew it was important, we knew it was important, we told them it looked horrendous, we told them burning skies was a disappointment. Why in the world didn't they take this seriously and listen.
Thought as much. Said it before, Killzone Mercenary will be The One!
In view of this I think a lot of the blame has to lie with the publisher. The vita is supposed to provide console quality gameplay on a handheld. There is no way a game like this can be developed in the space of five months and turn out anything other than abysmally. I've read reviews stating that the single player campaign lasts less than an hour. That is disgraceful for a full priced commerical game. They know the game will sell well because its Call of Duty. Shame on Activision for their lack of respect for the platform and for their own customers.
@Chozo85 Agreed. If this is true, Nihilistic can't be held accountable. The fact that they made a game at all in that span of time is incredible. Of course, there's a chance it may not be true. Personally, I believe it.
I think the game is not that bad. Not as Resistance :bS. But it is no killer game the vita needed. I think sony and activision are to blame. Activision for telling us a call of duty game is coming to the vita. I did come to the vita they kept their promise but not console quality. If i hear words like tailored to the vita i know sh*t hits the fan.
Groan... WAIT RUMOR?
For 10$ that game could be interesting. But for 50??????
Another huge letdown. I may be setting my Vita down for a good while to play my Wii U.
Saw this coming. Can't really blame Nihilistic but this game looks terrible.
I feel really bad for Nihilistic. Being forced to make a game in 5 months with that brand name would be so incredibly stressful.
they have the time with resistance bs...it isnt any better...anyway its really insane for sony to hang the development to nihillistic....any of their first parties would make a better job...
Absolutely pathetic and just shows how utterly clueless the people at Sony can be sometimes. Vita is a great product but these morons are hurting it more than helping it.
I can't wait to see what nStigate does on the mobile markets. I'm willing to bet that in a few year's time, they will be one of the hottest mobile developers out there! They've got tons of talent, but they've been short-handed by Sony for far too long.
Not only do I despise what Sony has made this developer do far far too long now, but I question why they would release utter garbage with big names attached to it on their consoles too. I've very happy to see this developer set free and I truly wish them nothing but the best!
