After graduating high school I remember pouring over game magazines in 1995, wondering if I should get the PS1 or the Saturn. The PS1 was the first console I bought with my own money. Drove all over town looking for different launch titles. Played Ridge Racer the most. Later I remember loving Tomb Raider, Blood Omen and Soul Reaver. Played some NHL and Madden and others too, so much fun.

Seems like doing limited anniversary deals is par for the course. How many special anniversary consoles did they make? Like 5000 or something? And these themes and start up animations cost very little. Oh Sony.

Good grief. Digital content, free or paid, should not be limited. This is not a licensing deal Sony has to negotiate with a third party. Let us keep it.

I wish it was CG instead of FMV. An anime style would be awesome. Oh well.

You summed it up perfectly in your article. "The Game Awards are little more than a self-obsessed advertising platform". So let it go. Love the games you love and don't worry about awards. Awards are for the creators to accept, if they care either.

I get it. I really only care about what games are being worked on and releasing.

I think my biggest issue is how many live service titles they are making at one time. We all know this is a big gamble and you just lost big time with Concord. Would have been easier to take if that was the only one in development.

Count me as one of those people that is less productive WFH. But I'm also commenting on this video while at the main office, so...

Changes nothing. For $700 the Pro should include a disc drive and a stand. If people want to buy it w/o those then have a cheaper option for them. Come on.

Just don't look, just don't look...or just don't buy games as early access. It may not go away like the advertising monsters from the Simpsons, but companies make less money when we resist this trend. I understand it's hard, but it's only a few days wait. Or wait months if you can for patches to drop.

The only game stuff I sell online is decades old and not available in stores anymore. And I always sell as Auction only, not high Buy It Now. In this day and age, unless you can pre-order it, this is what happens with Limited CE. It sucks.

That's a pretty low bar for the time frame. Legit gamers could still flip it but it's better than nothing at all for Japan. Selling a limited edition item w/o thinking about resellers jumping ahead of real fans is stupid Sony. You did this back with the PS4 and learned nothing?

I wish Square Enix would change their mind on this. Maybe it's time they lower their expectations.

@tameshiyaku That's the general sentiment for many reasons. Netflix could maybe be seen that way too. Not sure of if any of their exclusive anime has made it to home video thus far, which is my biggest gripe. I like owning my favorites on Blu-Ray.

For those of us that aren't interested in upgrading to a PS5 Pro, Sony should really sell the 30th Anniversary PS5 covers. Come on!

Ghost of Yotei, Kain 1+2 and Lunar remastered. I rarely pre-order games but will be doing so when the Lunar physical edition is announced. I've never had a chance to play Lunar and have heard nothing but great things.

Bummer, 2026 is ways off.

All the listings I saw last night on ebay are gone. Not sure if they were removed by ebay or what. I tried to report them as a "chance listing" but was rejected by customer service.

It's one thing to jack up the price on a verified pre-order, this is just swindling someone out of their money. You'd be better off spending $10k on gambling. I still think these should not be limited.

Report to ebay as chance listing: "Listings that offer an opportunity to win an item by chance or contest are not allowed on eBay."

Lots of comments to read, just going to give my 2 cents. I really really hope Sony learns from this, whatever that means, and changes. The PS5 Pro might say different but this all happened so close together.

Ugh. Why can't Sony sell the cool covers for our PS5? How about giving us the trinkets for being a PSN paid member? I would love the retro PS5 box art as a poster.

If I need a review I use other gamers and content creators I trust. Examples: SwitchUp, Happy Console Gamer, Gameranx, etc. I don't rely on Meta Critic or anything like it.

You always need to consider resellers / scalpers in this equation. Look on ebay in a couple weeks and see how many PS5 drives are for sale.

Yeah, if you want a PS5 just get the slim, either digital or with the optical drive. Earlier this year I traded in my PS4 and got a PS5 with the optical drive for about $300 in cash. No complaints.
