Re: The Last of Us PS4 Will Boast Enhanced Lighting and Some Gameplay Improvements

XavandSo

In 20 years when I do a replay of The Last of Us with my children, I will be playing it on the system it was designed for. The PlayStation 3. The version which blown us away again and again. I am a very nostalgic person, so I find re-releases and remakes lose some of that magic the original release had. For example the 3DS remake of Ocarina of Time, I feel, was lacking in comparison to the original N64 version. That said, I'll own a PS4 and probably the TLOU remake too by then.

Re: Ubisoft: We Will Continue to Support PS3 for Foreseeable Future

XavandSo

Unless this is a great April Fool's Joke, I am happy with this move. I know most of you have already upgraded to the PS4 and would hate my opinion right now, but I, personally, know many who aren't interested in next-gen but are interested in coming games (Destiny, Watch Dogs, etc). Leaving them out is just money left on the table. Not everyone is a hardcore enthusiast who needs next-gen. In regards to hardware restrictions, kill them off though.

Re: Weirdness: Be Careful When Playing Dark Souls II with a DualShock 4

XavandSo

I suppose I'm one of the very few who prefer the DualShock 3 over not only the DS4, but the 360/One controllers. I like the slipperiness of the sticks and the "awkwardness" of the triggers. I don't know why, but I do.
OT: I feel bad for the guy, I hope he gets a refund, but it is ultimately user-error... Not that I agree it was.

Re: Crikey, Australians Are Speedily Snapping Up Sony's Home Consoles

XavandSo

I'm one of those fighting for the PS3's dominance on Australia's charts. I alone have bought three PS3's in 4 months. My second-hand 40GB, a 160GB Slim Big-W were clearing for $148 and a 12GB Super-Slim for my backroom. This isn't counting my family and friends who bought one or two over Chrissy.

FYI; Vegemite tastes far better than "Marmite". You Brits just aren't happy little Vegemites. Oh, and who sucks at the Ashes...?

Re: Weirdness: Sony Plans to Buy a Factory That Produces Parts for the Wii U

XavandSo

Gugugughhh.... The Last of Us on the Wii U..... The thought of dual screen support, ala ZombiU, would be insanely gorgeous. PS4 GOTY with Vita features?...
OT: Even if Sony stops making these chipsets, I'm sure Nintendo has enough surplus Wii U stock to last awhile, until they find a new supplier. Nothing to worry about, folks.

Re: Talking Point: Is the Vita Really Dying a 'Slow, Painful Death'?

XavandSo

When the Vita was announced in 2011, I proclaimed it would be dead within 3 months and the 3DS was the reincarnation of Jesus, that had no faults. But, early last year I snapped out of my cult-like Nintendo following, all thanks to Gravity Rush and the handheld that could, the Vita. I got my Vita as a trade for my old PC and quickly fell in love with it, so much it's replaced my 3DS for handheld of choice. Even if the Vita dies, it's charger will always be welcomed in my wall.

Re: PlayStation Now Won't Be Streaming to Europe Until 2015

XavandSo

@k_andersen
Who are you with? I'm with Telstra and (according to speedtest.net), I get an average of 12.7mb/s. I'm hailing from Perth, the state with the worst net in the country with the worst net in the developed world. Go figure. The bad FTTN NBN isn't being developed in my area until 2019. Yay.....

Re: How Does The Last of Us Look on PlayStation Now?

XavandSo

@RaymanFan2
I'm Australian and I too, can't see this working in our region, unless they have rendering servers in Sydney or something. That said, I'm from Perth, on the other side of Australia, so I'm screwed either way. This hype makes me sad. My Vita is sad with no Last of Us.

Re: Sony: Publishers Will Push the Boundaries of PlayStation 4 in 2014

XavandSo

I know it's marketing vitriol, but it's not a good thing for the PS4 to be maxed out so early in the system's life. For example, the PS3 arguably just was maxed this year with The Last of Us, 8 years into it's life. Not to mention the easy to program x86-64 architecture and, dare I say it, mid-range specs that are already under stress (1600x900 Battlefield 4). Devs can't have the excuse that it's hard to program for like they did with the Cell. I understand RAM and Engine optimisations can help, but it really can only take so far. It's looking even worse for the Xbox One.

Re: Rumour: Is Grand Theft Auto V Set to Hijack the PS4?

XavandSo

For purely selfish reasons, I don't want Rockstar to release a PS4/Xbone version. As I don't plan on getting a PS4 until 2015, even 2016, I don't want the PS3 Online community to dwindle and dry up even faster with a next-gen port. Not to mention I pretty much bought a PS3 for GTA V...

Re: Talking Point: How Much Do Format Face-Offs Really Matter?

XavandSo

@jgrangervikings
"After all, nobody wants to be that guy who spends his hard earned money on a system that dies a painful death with no support."

Sadly, that sums up my console gaming experience for decades. It sucks I tell ya, it's been the same conundrum since 1990. Master System... Nothing. N64.... Nothing. GC... Nothing. Wii U... Nothing. Vita... Nothing. Why do I pick the worst supported systems? I have no idea...

Re: Sony Enters the Micro-console Arena With PS Vita TV, The Smallest PlayStation Yet

XavandSo

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Steady down there Sony.

I see the whole point of this, but still, why? I would like to play my Vita on my tele, but I have my PS3 and Wii U for my gaming. The Vita should stay handheld, there is no point, there is the PS3/4 for that role. Also, how would the touch functions work? Sorry if this is answered somewhere, my Internet is slow today.

Re: Who Needs PS4? Rockstar Reckons Grand Theft Auto 5 Feels Next-Gen Now

XavandSo

@get2sammyb
It is quite exciting. I spent years on a Nintendo pedestal decrying the PS3 from it's price, to it's "stolen idea" of SixAxis and it's George Foreman grill-like looks, so when I matured and finally played the PS3 about 2 years ago, I wondered why I hated it. I'm embarrassed to knock such a wonderful machine.

Re: Who Needs PS4? Rockstar Reckons Grand Theft Auto 5 Feels Next-Gen Now

XavandSo

Having completely skipped Sony's console systems this generation, I concede that I missed out on some insanely epic stuff. I bought a cheap 2nd hand 40GB PS3 a couple of weeks ago and was blown away by The Last of Us, I can't believe what I missed out on for the past 7 years. GTA V is pre-ordered absolutely and I'm not even remotely interested in the PS4 or XBone, as I have a glorious PS3 backlog that needs playing.

Re: Gran Turismo 6 Tough to Put into Gear on PlayStation Vita

XavandSo

@MadchesterManc
Motorstorm RC Complete Edition (for Vita) is on sale right now!

Anyway, I've been playing Gran Turismo PSP on my Vita for a couple of days, because of the aforementioned sale and it's a blast. The Vita would be perfect for a GT game/port. If a handheld from 2005 could do it, a 2012 handheld can.
