@Mr-Elusive Because like a lot of other VR games, if you take that immersive element away, the games are just walking simulators with better controls. As much as I love Half Life Alyx, it souls be boring as standard game using keyboard and mouse.
My friend played this version first on PS2 so I borrowed it from him having played the PC version first. My god what a downgrade it was. Smaller areas with lots of loading times and not as much customisation to your skills. He loved it though and I told him the PC version will blow him away in that case.
The thing is, it’s not the 90’s any more. While they’re not live service, fighting games generally get longer support these days. SFV was getting new characters for over 5 years and was one of the weakest games in the series at launch and Guilty Gear Strive is still going strong after 4 years. I don’t play Mortal Kombat anymore (the last one I played was MK4), but it’s hard not to see this as a loss despite selling over 5 million.
@UltimateOtaku91 Saying Nintendo has never been about power is a bit disingenuous considering they were marketing the N64 as the most powerful console in the world (until Dreamcast showed up). Even the GameCube went head to head with the Xbox and PS2. It’s only since the Wii that they’ve dialled the hardware back a generation.
As a longtime Dragon Age fan, the initial reveal set alarm bells ringing. The aesthetic just wasn’t to my liking. Then I saw Skill Ups review who said it was bland and the puzzles too easy and level layout seemed more like arenas. So I didn’t buy it. The best way to argue Andrew Wilson’s excuses is release a Mass Effect game as good as the previous ones (not Andromeda) and then see how well it sells.
Having been a purely PC player for the past 6 years now, I welcome PlayStation ports. I’ve bought most of them so far and if I’d known Returnal was so good and it didn’t come to PC, I would have bought a PS5 just for that. As it stands, there’s nothing Sony offers on the PS5 that I can’t get on PC and I don’t mind waiting a year or two for a port. It’s a shame Nixxes hasn’t delivered on this one as they’re usually top tier ports.
@ChimpMasta Screamer Rally in particular blew me away. I used to like POD too, I remember it being one of the few games that took advantage of intel MMX processors at the time.
I chose a Saturn over PlayStation due to being a massive Sonic fan too (even got a Mega CD for Christmas 1993 just for Sonic CD). There was only me, my friend and my cousin that had Saturns in our school (my cousin would soon sell it to get a PS). I didn't miss out on the PlayStation games though, I could play them all at my friends, one in particular whole me play through Resident Evil (he was too scared) and Final Fantasy VII (because he didn't realise it was turn based) but I did get those eventually when ported to Saturn (RE) and PC (FFVII). I don't need to tell people how it went but the Saturn got battered by Playstation but there were some excellent exclusives and when devs really tried, some games looked stunning.
@windxtravelerx Space Marine 2 was a 7/10 up until the last level which I think elevated it to an 8. It's decent but it's not as good as some other third person games I've played over the past 15 years. I do think if you took away the Warhammer license, it wouldn't be getting as much attention as it has been. I think Rogue Trader and Mechanicus are the 40K games that deserve the most praise.
Been playing this on PC since release and honestly, I think Vermintide II is still better. I would love Fatshark to have another crack and do something with Cursed City, I think that would make a great co-op game in the same style as Vermintide.
@breakneck Okay, insert literally any original game that took less than 8 years to make then. Bloodborne. The Last of Us. Overwatch (technically). Fortnite. Destiny. Take your pick.
Concord taking 8 years to make when it's just a multiplayer game but The Witcher III only taking 3.5 years when it's a huge RPG (and a modern classic) is bonkers. The time didn’t go into character creation so where was it spent? As for its future, I honestly think the best thing to do is refund everyone for starters.
I had it on Xbox back in the day and it wasn’t great. Picked it up at the same time I bought Guilty Gear X2 #Reload which was much better. I may get it on Steam but not in a rush. More hyped for the Marvel v Capcom collection.
Well I hope it turns out better than the trailer they showed years ago. I swear as much as the next person but the foul mouthed monkey was just obnoxious and cringe.
I know it's changed developer since it was announced (maybe several times), but by the time it comes out, it will have taken 6 years. By comparison, the Sands of time trilogy was released between 2003-2005, 1 a year. Will it sell enough to justify the development time? Probably not.
I 100% this on Steam a couple of years ago and they keep adding achievements to it and I keep going back to mop them up. Currently on 198/204 with 200 hours clocked. My second favourite game of 2022 (just behind Elden Ring).
@djlard It's coming back early next year but alongside Sigmar (why would they end it if they're still making money?). What I'd love is for Fatshark to make a Cursed City game.
For console games on TV's, I get that. As a PC gamer with a non HDR monitor, refresh rate and G-Sync is king. I assume my mind would be blown if I bought a HDR monitor but on PC, it's not really the key feature. (must add I've seen HDR on my friends TV and it does look nice).
@Anti-Matter I'm definitely with you on the UI. SF5 was cleaner and this just has so many menus.
The game is great but the first impressions were a bit disheartening and geared towards too much on new players (a good thing I guess). I didn't want to start off by making an avatar and going through the basics, I just wanted to fight. Also didn't like that the modern controls were on by default and couldn't even be changed into the World Tour mode until you go through the basics.
First thing I'm going to do is test it on a standard HDD and see if their talk of an SSD being required really were true (it wasn't needed for The Medium despite Bloober Team saying otherwise).
@4kgk2 That answers none of my questions but to answer your original one; Sony aren't wasting their time. A few extra sales for old games on a format that isn't competition is a win for everyone.

Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's Beloved Soundtrack Snubbed in Prestigious Music Awards
Helldivers 2 is a year and a half old at this point, surely it should have been last year instead? Even then, the soundtrack didn’t stand out.
Re: PlayStation Is Trying to Scrub Any Mention of Its Failed Concerts from the Internet
@RoomWithaMoose This is the most factually correct reply. If anyone tells you otherwise, they’re wrong or lying.
Re: Free Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Update Adds PSP Exclusive Characters to Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper
Great news, I'd like them to include the versions of SF Alpha 2 Gold that was in the Saturn SF collection and Ultra Street Fighter II too.
Re: Talking Point: Is It Officially Game Over for PSVR2?

Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About The Last of Us Part 2, 5 Years Later?
@epicurean My thoughts exactly. Gameplay and graphics are impeccable. Story, characters and pacing, not so.

Re: Spider-Man 2's Looking Like Another PC Own Goal from Sony
@andrewsqual I’m talking PS5, not going back decades and if you want, you can comfortably emulate PS1-PS3 and some PS4 games.

Re: Returnal Is Sony's Second Most Unpopular PC Game at Launch
@4kgk2
1- How many resources does it take away from actual development to port?
2- How much money does it cost them to do so? Have they made their money back already from the cost of the port? You don't know.
3- If you don't have shares in Sony, why do you care?
