@get2sammyb Chamber of Secrets PS2, Goblet of Fire PS2 and PSP, and Half-Blood Prince PS3 are all missing. You might want to add those so the “best games” list will make sense.
First Theme Hospital was updated for a modern audience with Two Point Hospital, now Theme Aquarium with this! Leaves only Theme Park to receive the same treatment now!
@thefourfoldroot1 Yeah, I would! 😂 In fact, when you boot up Folklore, it’s the Japan Studio logo that shows up first, then Game Republic’s. Definitely a trick question!
@ShogunRok Hmm the Folklore question was an iffy one since both Game Republic and Japan Studio actually worked on it! 😝 GR were the lead devs though granted.
@nessisonett In this case, it’s generally accepted the PSP version is the superior one. The PS2 port apparently added a load of bugs which weren’t in the original PSP release, and it also removed a cutscene for some unknown strange reason.
The only ones I’d be interested in would be the original game and it’s PSP sequel Bloodlines. Everything else (excluding DS and mobile) are already available for PS5.
Does this only count users tracked with their trophies? Sony themselves said Toy Story 2 was the most downloaded classic at one point (didn’t have trophies until recently) so surely that one would still be in the top releases too?
Again, how does Square Enix still own this? Crystal Dynamics owned the IP when they were sold to SE. Why on Earth would SE want to keep an IP they have never used yet happy to ditch Tomb Raider. It’s beyond bizarre.
Weird that Square kept this IP when selling the ex-Eidos studios to Embracer but not Tomb Raider. Still, I wouldn’t credit it as “Square Enix’s infamous 3D brawler series” when they’ve never touched them. Both games were made by Core during the Eidos days.
@nessisonett Oh wow! You had to read that too? I thought we did it just because it was local interest or something. Fun fact: I actually used to live on the same street in Aberdeen where the author once lived. His blue plaque was a few doors down.
@nessisonett Well exactly! At least you’ve got a lot on TV though. We have that god awful Granite Harbour and that’s about it. 😂
Yeah, Rockstar have studios in both Edinburgh and Dundee so they’re on fire, plus GTA originated in Dundee of course along with Lemmings. Everybody seems to forget they were created by the same dev.
Got to be honest, I’m a bit disappointed actually. Was really excited for Sly and TR Legend but the resolution on these is terrible. I’ve played quite a few of the PS1 and PSP classics, and the up-rendering on those really helped. The PS2 ones seem to have none of that. Legend is very blurry to the point it’s difficult to see in places. Can only hope these will be patched at some point to boost their resolution/definition.
So I suppose he thinks it was also “slimy” when MS did the same by paying for World at War DLC to be timed exclusive for 360 then? Or Rise of the Tomb Raider? Dead Rising 3? The list is endless.
@Gamer_X This wasn’t a new announcement. It was announced ages ago and has even been playable in beta form on PC for the past month. Been eagerly awaiting its release since the last update dropped 😁
@PuppetMaster Exactly what I was thinking. It’s interesting that the monkey doesn’t seem to be a bot dressed up… could it be a tease for their next game? A new Ape Escape? Can only hope. I think I read somewhere that some of the devs who work on Astro come from the team within Japan Studio who worked on the old Ape Escapes.
@Decoy_Snake Sony released one for PSP called Pinball Heroes which featured tables based on Uncharted, Everybody’s Golf, WipEout etc. It’s also available on PS4/5 as an emulated classic.
If this is true I don’t get why Sony wouldn’t do Lego The Last of Us first which is clearly their biggest IP right now, unless it’s too “gory” for Lego. Personally I’d prefer Lego Uncharted though.
@DeathlySW Not even close. Housemarque have been around for almost 30 years (over 30 if you include their predecessors Bloodhouse and Terramarque). They’ve released plenty of hits along the way (Super Stardust, Dead Nation, Resogun).
To be fair, the way Lara was sexualised was against the original creators vision as well (Toby Gard apparently left over this issue) and it was probably the publisher who pushed it, “sex sells” and all that. That being said, I don’t think it’s right to censor and remove stuff like this. Maybe the pictures shouldn’t have been there in the first place but the fact is they were, so they should remain.
@MetalGear_Yoshi They used to own the IP but Atari sold it to Ubisoft after Driver: Parallel Lines. They sold off their other most well known IP (Alone in the Dark) recently to THQ Nordic. Pretty much the only thing they still own of note that isn’t an Atari classic is RollerCoaster Tycoon and they’ve butchered that in recent years!
Dumbest names I’ve ever heard, especially Middle Earth since it’s only licensed to them. What happens when the LoTR licence goes elsewhere? 🤦♂️ Probably should’ve gone with THQ for one, and Eidos for the other. Both have had strong brand recognition in the past and may have made people think of the original companies instead of this train wreck that’s just derailed and split in three!
@nessisonett While I can’t disagree with the sentiment, Paramount (the incarnation you’re referring to) was already folded in long ago by Gulf+Western, Viacom, National Amusements etc. The incarnation I think this news piece is about is Paramount Global, the conglomerate formerly called ViacomCBS. But again, agree we don’t need more consolidation.
What they should do to make it at least a smidgen worthwhile is add all their classics to the service! WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR GTA STORIES YOU KNOW! 🤦♂️
@Juanalf There will be no “platinum patch”. Once a trophy list has launched without a platinum, one can’t be added later. They could create a whole new stack I suppose but that’s not going to happen. So just play the PS4 version if you want platinums.
@Czar_Khastik Depends who you ask really. It’s probably a case of “all of the above”. Brexit has got to have had an impact too. Costs have gone up in the UK across the board due to added red tape (the total opposite of what was “promised”) and the uncertainty has made it less attractive for foreign investment so they look elsewhere. As for jobs, it seems to either be they can’t afford to keep people (like this example), or in other sectors, they can’t find enough people to work. I think there’s record unemployment in the UK just now but shortages of health professionals for example. So yeah, it’s a total and utter mess.
@Ahoyman Some of the trophies were fixed but sadly not all. The unobtainable pickup in TR1 has been sorted but the trophy in Unfinished Business to collect all pickups is still glitched.
@Flaming_Kaiser Didn’t say there was. All I was really saying is Insomniac were probably not being totally forthright. For the record, I am against using a debug to insta-unlock all trophies in a game. Don’t really even like auto-popping stacks either tbh.
@MaddieTian Exactly, they just don’t want people to use it. Apparently you can unlock all the trophies with it in seconds, and there’s also details buried inside we aren't meant to know about like possible DLC etc, so you can see why they’d want to scare people off touching it.
I think another reason people may not be too fond of him is how Amy Hennig was pushed out and he took control of everything. Obviously, we don’t know the full story but that was a turning point for sure. After that, Naughty Dog effectively became the Druckmann show.
@AFCC Techincally yes, but Mojang self-publish rather than being published by Microsoft. It’s the equivalent of Bungie I guess (Sony own them but they aren’t a “PS Studios” dev).
Psychonauts 2, however, most definitely counts (credits Microsoft as the publisher on the PS Store). So that was probably the first.
@thefourfoldroot1 Exactly this. Do the bare minimum in a PSP game = lots of golds and a platinum. Go above and beyond in TR1-3, literally do everything in 3 games = lots of bronze and no platinums. Sadly, the trophy system is broken nowadays.

@ShadowofSparta Especially seeing as it’s not even Bethesda’s lore in the first place. In many ways Fallout would be more at home in Obsidian’s hands.
