@Triumph741 a timed exclusive isn’t a bribe! Xbox 360 had numerous timed exclusives. Back then sales were close, so it was ok then but not now?

@MayaMousavi monopolising the gaming industry isn’t lawful. That’s why they’re struggling to pull off the Activision deal. If they get Activision no way would they be allowed to acquire another big dev.

@MayaMousavi so answer the question then. If Xbox could do that why didn’t they? Ok, half my figures, 10 mill first year sales, games sell more at release, Xbox still lose £200 million per game. 5 million sales? They lose £100 million per game. 10 games, that’s a billion pound losses.

@MayaMousavi i’m right what i say. Ok, you answer ya own question. Take the Starfield story, Microsoft heard Sony were lining up a deal for timed exclusivity of Starfield. So MS pay $7.5 billion to stop this. Why didn’t they simply contact Bethesda an say wat ever Sony offer you, we’ll pay 10% more for timed exclusivity to Xbox? Lets say a game sells 20 million, 70% on Playstation. That’s 14 million lets say on average £50 a copy, that’s £700 million. Plus another lets say £5 million sweetner. To then sell about 6 million copies x £50 is £300 mill. A £400 million loss per game!!

@MayaMousavi not really. 3rd party games sell 70+% for Playstation. Xbox would have to cover that, plus a few mill more to make it an attractive deal, then release a game that will only get 30% of potential sales. They’re signing up to lose money. Of coarse they could afford it but it’d be pointless.

@Darthmoogle i don’t get why so many people don’t understand this!!??? So Sony buy a dev, give the dev team a credit card and say make us a new game. The devs get to work and voila!! We have TLOU 1 an 2, Uncharted 1-4, God of War, Ratchet an Clank, Horizon, Spiderman, Ghost of Tsushima, etc.
Microsoft buy an already huge dev and make 3rd party games exclusive. If Starfield, Redfall an Indiana Jones came to Playstation, then in 3 years we get a brand new Knight Rider game that is Xbox exclusive then that’s fine.

@MayaMousavi Xbox can’t outbid Playstation. Think about it, 70+% of 3rd party games sell on Playstation. For Xbox to get timed exclusivity they’d have to cover those losses and then a few million more to make it an attractive deal to the devs. They’d be signing up to lose money on the game. In the Xbox 360 era sales were similar to Playstation 3 sales and Xbox had timed exclusives too. It’s only become a problem since Playstation took a huge lead in sales.

@Tharsman that is completely irrelevant. Spiderman PS4 was a brand new game, Miles was also a brand new game. Not a planned 3rd party game that Sony bought an blocked from other systems.
I had Indiana Jones on the ZX Spectrum, foes that mean the upcoming Xbox game isn’t a new game??? Xbox really clutching at straws re releasing a Specy game!!

@Tharsman timed exclusive yeah. Xbox would do the same if they could. Devs are keen to do exclusive desls with Sony for 2 reasons, 1. Sony contribute yo the making of the game an 2. Devs wanna sell games. 70+% of 3rd party games sell on Playstation. Playstation player base is far greater. Back in the PS3/360 days the player base was similar an Xbox had numerous timed exclusives. But that was ok. Now Playstation are way ahead it’s unfair an uncompetitive!! Reminds me of wen i was at school!! 10 of us being rowdy, i get a bolloking!! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@Tharsman i don’t get wat ya mean? Spiderman was a new ip that was first started after Sony acquired insomniac. Indy, Starfield, Redfall were already things wen Microsoft bought Bethesda. Microsoft simply bought them an cancelled PS5 versions. Sony didn’t do that with Spiderman or any other exclusive.

@evan23 if when Microsoft bought Bethesda Indiana, Starfield, wat eva wasn’t a thing. MS buy Bethesda an say here’s a credit card, we want a big space exploration game and a game with an iconic movie character and Starfield an Indiana were created as Xbox exclusives that’d be fine, like Sony does. Simply using ya trillions to buy huge, popular devs an make 3rd party games exclusive is wrong.

@Neither_scene i don’t think sales would alter much if they did make COD exclusive. No Playstation gamer is gonna drop Playstation an switch to Xbox for COD. Big COD fans will just buy an Xbox, Series S if money’s tight, everyone else just won’t play COD. I have PS5 an Series X so i’d be fine, if i could only afford one console tho no way would i drop Playstation just to play Call of Duty. An i was talkin about Xbox getting timed exclusivity of COD if the Activision deal collapses. They’d lose money on COD sales for ten years.

@Neither_scene think about it, COD sells 75+% on Playstation. To get timed exclusivity Microsoft would have to cover that 75+% an then a bit more to make it an attractive deal to Activision. Plus they would never make that back as sales would drop massively, espesh if they put it on Game Pass. No way would they go for that. A business can’t intentionally give itself 10 year losses!!

@Godot25 so that means mid next gen Microsoft could make COD exclusive. 10 years isn’t really a long time.

@Darude84 i always watch cut scenes. My fav type of games are story driven games, just thought there was a lot in FF16. Not played FF since SNES days.

@number1024 totally agree mate!! I have both PS5 an Series X, both are great but i do prefer the PS5 simply because it has better games, PS exclusives are often masterpieces! If in the next 2 years Xbox had 10+ exclusives that were 10/10, GOTY contenders i’d say i can’t choose, both are pretty equal. I have no loyalty to Sony, why would i? I’m not a huge share holder.

Yet all you’ll hear on PureXbox is Sony pay bribes to keep games off Xbox!!! One guy in particular, Banjo he calls himself, he has a deep rooted hatred for Playstation an Sony. According to him Sony bribe devs, Playstation exclusive games are over hyped an boring, Xbox exclusives are far better, Sony an Nintendo only win GOTY because of media bias against Xbox, an Xbox game will never win GOTY because only Playstation an Nintendo are allowed to win!! Gotta say the Xbox showcase was very good, they beat Playstation for once!! Starfield looks incredible, Flight Sim, Fable, Hellblade, Forza Motorsports, etc. might actually get to play my Series X more than a couple of times a week!!

@Fiendish-Beaver it would cost Microsoft far more than that for timed exclusivity. Take Hogwarts for example, that sold 80/20 in favour of Playstation. For Xbox timed exclusivity they’d have to cover the 80% lost Playstation sales, then a bit more to make it appealing to the dev. Sony would only have to cover the 20% loss plus a bit more. This is why Series S/X don’t have timed exclusives, the Playstation player base is far greater than Xbox. Back in the PS3/360 days the player base was close, PS3 sold a couple million more consoles, an the 360 had a few timed exclusives.

@Fiendish-Beaver spot on. Xbox gamers complain about Playstation having timed exclusives, the only reason Xbox don’t have timed exclusives is because it would cost them millions more. Hogwarts for example sold 80/20 in favour of Playstation. MS would have to cover that 80% loss to get exclusivity. I hope MS do get Activision an i hope COD goes on Game Pass too. I don’t think it will really hurt Playstation an if they sign the 10 year deal nothing will really change spart from the exclusive content Playstation gets.

I’m really hyped for this, MK11 is fantastic, still play it now. Spent about £25 on characters!! Rambo, Robocop, Joker, etc. Rambo is my fav MK11 character. An Scorpion of coarse, he’s my long term fav.

I haven’t played a Final Fantasy game since the SNES days. This does look really good. Can’t decide whether to buy it???

I don’t think they held back as such, they just didn’t think certain games were ready to show an do them justice. I don’t get all the abuse. We know for a fact we have Spiderman 2, Ff16, Wolverine, Ghost of Tsushima 2, TLOU Factions, KOTOR, etc. Xbox has Starfield an Forza M, then there’s the Indiana Jones game which is a long time off. These games will be shown when they’re ready to show an wen they release each one will be a 10/10 across the board as PS AAA exclusives always are.

@trev666 Redfall was a 7 out of 10 on average. You tried that??? Spiderman for it’s time was a solid 9 for me.

If it’s out in time it’s my tip for GOTY. Starfield has been hyped an i’ll def play day 1 but i have far more confidence in Spiderman 2. Insomniac have said Spiderman 2 will be the best game they ever made. I don’t doubt them.

Another 18 month until GTA6!!! I’ll prob be dead before GTA7!! I’m 46 now!!

This simply means, if the deal goes thro, COD is as good as it’s ever gonna get. Microsoft won’t improve it nor will they release any new games.

It seems expensive for wat it is. Does look great but will prob be on PS+ or Game Pass within 6-12 month.
