Re: PS5 Players See Switch 2 as a Secondary Console, Not Direct Competition

ThaBEN

A lot of people I know have that same sentiment. They have a PS5 or XBOX as main and a Switch as a secondary console, just for the Nintendo exclusives. In those cases, none of them is interested in playing the multiplatform games on Switch, since they will look and play better on their XBOX / PS5.
When you consider that, the point of entry is just to damn high for those people to invest in the console at this moment in time, especially when you want games physical, which will cost you €90 per piece!
If you buy one physical game per month, you'll have to spent €360 more per year on Switch 2 compared to the OG Switch. For that same amount of money you could have gotten 6 extra new Switch 1 games!

Re: Poll: PS5 Fans, Are You Sold on the Nintendo Switch 2?

ThaBEN

Lets be real. Technically it's an impressive system. The price for the console is high, but I could live with that and consider it as a one time entry fee. However, €90 for a physical game is RIDICULOUS!!!
GTA6 is probably going to be cheaper.
It killed all my hype...

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Broke PS Store Sales Records for Ubisoft

ThaBEN

This seems like great news, but I'm still sceptical. I want to see the sales combined for both digital and physical for the first week/month and compare that with other releases in the series.

The reason being that in 2025, digital games have become more mainstream than ever with digital only consoles.
So, I'm not sure if having the biggest digital sale in the franchise's history on launchday is that big of a deal as they want to make it sounds, considering that the further you go back in time with the franchise's releases, the less popular digital games were.

Re: Ubisoft Will Reportedly Fight for Assassin's Creed Shadows, Anti-Harassment Plan in Place

ThaBEN

Makes you wonder if this is indeed about protecting employees from harassment, or if this is a disguised way of censoring criticism on AC Shadows, considering Ubisoft is in complete financial disaster, if AC: Shadows doesn't perform well.

I'm really curious though, how the game is being received in the Japanese gaming community.

Edit:
I'm interested in this game but I don't have the need to play this on day one. I'm keeping a close eye on how this all plays out in the coming days. Not only the quality of the game, but also Ubisoft's response in how they will handle the situation is going to be a deciding factor for me, before I make a final decision if I'm going to support this company by buying AC: Shadows.
Because in all honesty, I don't think this situation is as simple and one sided as the current "Gamers are toxic" narrative that Ubisoft is claiming. I feel that they (Ubisoft) also have a responsibility in creating this mess that they are in now.

Re: Skate PS5 Isn't Even Out Yet, But It Already Has Microtransactions

ThaBEN

@get2sammyb
Thanks for clarification! Maybe a hot take, but In that case, I don't see much problems with this approach.
Keep in mind that this is a beta that is played by a limited group of players. These players are (mostly) people that are big fans of this franchise, otherwise they wouldn't have found their way into the beta.
And if they get 100% of their spent money refunded in the form of digital San Van Bucks to be used in the final version of the game, I don't see any problems. You know beforehand what you're getting into.

Note: Only reason for outrage would be if this is a test to see which items are the most popular and they offer the same DLC in the final version of the game, but increase the prices for said items compared to the current pricing in the beta build. EA wouldn't do that, right?

Re: Skate PS5 Isn't Even Out Yet, But It Already Has Microtransactions

ThaBEN

I need clarification on "Any San Van Bucks they own will be returned to their accounts".
Do they mean your unspent left-over San Van Bucks on your beta account? Or do they also refund the equivalent amount of San Van Bucks that you've given them by spending real cash on items in the in-game shops, which you'll loose access to once the beta ends and won't be given back once the full game is released?

Re: Forza Horizon 5 Will Require a Microsoft Account to Play on PS5, Raising Preservation Problems

ThaBEN

Man, the future of gaming looks bleaker and bleaker every few months.
We need to cherish Nintendo with their support for physical games for their first party line-up and almost no day-one patches since they actually ship their games complete and (almost always) without bugs.
PS5 games needing a Microsoft account, PC games needing a PSN account. The whole concept of owning a "console" is getting more ridiculous as time goes on.
I buy consoles to not put up with all this crap. I miss the days where console gaming was simple "plug-and-play" and occasionally blowing on the cartridge.

Re: You Can Get a Head Start on Next Week's Big PS Plus Game

ThaBEN

@GirlVersusGame
Well, there's review bombing and there's 'giving the game away for free'. I've never seen that happen with a triple A game of this caliber before. So I tend to believe there's truth in those teviews, that this game is not up to the standards as we expect from this franchise/developer.

Re: Talking Point: Is Forza Horizon 5's PS5 Price Point Too High?

ThaBEN

It's not the price by itself that irks me. It's the fact that its digital only and on top of that asks full price for a 4 year old game.
Also, I really want the Universal Icons pack but that is not availlable in any of the game's editions, so that would be another €10 added to the total.
This is what the future for gaming is going to be, isn't it?
All digital, meaning no alternative stores with competing prices.
I'm still probably going to get it, but I don't like this precedent at all.
