Just finished Yakuza 4 and The Last of Us part 2. I was really great (but depressing. I suspect the writers want for the players to hang themselves after finishing their game). I just went back to Persona 5 Royal. Still trying to choose between a PS5 and a XBox Series X. My deadline us september the 4th, with the release of Avengers, I want to buy this one on the platform I'll buy the successor of.
@Matroska you're totally right about linearity absolutely not being a problem here. JRPGs are, almost by definition, linear. FFX was linear and fantastic. Same with FFXIII. And FFVIIR is being made by the same producer (Kitase), so what did people expect exactly? If the guy was put in charge, it was for a reason.
@NeoTokyo404 I haven't finished it yet, but I played more than half of it already, so I can't decently comment the ending. What I CAN tell you is that the storytelling is far better than it was in the Kingdom Hearts series. It's much tighter and more focused.
It's really well made, and I'm saying that when:
a) FFVII isn't my favorite episode. I liked it, but I prefered other entries.
b) this remake wasn't my most anticipated release of the year by a long shot. I was mostly curious of what they were doing with it.
That being said, again, I'm surprised to be blown away like this by this game. Wow!
@NeoTokyo404 it's not a remake of "just" FFVII, but a remake/compilation of FFVII with story elements and background from Before Crisis, Crisis Core and Advent Children. And they've managed to make it understandable and accessible, and it's no small feat! It's perfect in what it's trying to do!
I received Persona 5 Royal this week, and Final Fantasy VII Remake the day after. And as much as I love the Persona series, FFVIIR has captured my attention. I can't seem to stop playing...
@WillMerfi you're not alone. It's their only chance to become number 1 again in Japan, and more generally Asia. They NEED another portable solution, be that a new dedicated hardware (little chance) or a Switch-like solution that would allow to play the same games on the go with lower resolution (more plausible).
It's interesting. And true, for the most part. And yet, most of the reviews stopped me from getting Days Gone... while I didn't like RDR2 at all, and the revered Sekiro proved to be way too hard for me It's true that some disliked games can click for you: I may be the only guy on earth that loved Mass Effect Andromeda.
I'm at Lady Butterfly and I'm suffering. It's my first From Software game and I'm suffering. I love the settings, so it helps, but gaining experience is so slow and, let's face it, I'm playing so badly that I thought of giving up and selling the game several times already.
The game I'm waiting for the most this year. I discovered Yakuza with the 6th last year and it was a revelation. I then played 9, Kiwami and Kiwami 2.I can't wait to go back to this universe!
I will miss this console so much... Editorialists of a French podcast about video games laughed at me when I asked them if they thought Sony would join the "Hybrid/second screen" route. I genuinely think they should. The PSP and the Vita proved that they had the means and the expertise. They need to offer this possibility to consumers, be that with a dedicated machine or at the very least an Xperia on steroid.
First time I think a note is too high. Guess there's a first for everything... Yeah, I know, a test will always be somewhat of a suggestive thing. But I feel like I have to point out a few thing:
the horrendous writing of the Caribbean level, where you don't understand who are the protagonists, where you are or what's happening most of the time. There's a few weird ellipses that make you change location without you knowing how or why. Clearly a miss.
The ending, that you just CAN'T understand without having played to the f2p mobile game. And no, this one is not explained in the archives of the Gummiphone. It's disrespectful to the players. So yeah, the game was a joy to play, there was frenetic action, many great characters and awesome locations (San Fransokyo) but on the storytelling side, it's another big miss, perhaps the biggest of all, when they should have tried harder.
I finished Yakuza 6 and am in sort of a state of grief. It was a magnificent experience, I loved it.
Playing God of War. Great game, but the bell system used for some chests is really making me angry. I can’t stand it.
I started Chaos; Child and it’s been... unsettling to say the least. Like it was making me wonder if I was gonna puke. Anyone had the same impression?
On the fence about buying Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze. The store near my house is selling it for 20 bucks less than the concurrence for the launch period...
Having been reassured about the state of my Vita’s battery (a little more than six hours on DanganRonpa V3), I’m using it again to beat the game. It’s becoming more and more darker as I’m starting the fifth chapter. I tried God Wars cause I love tacticals. The game is really cute but it’s so slow! Why is it so slow???
I never played the Yakuza series but I took the sixth episode on a whim, mostly due to the review on this very site and... god I LOVE IT!!! How come I didn’t play Yakuza before? I love the graphics, the soundtrack, the acting, I’m already at chapter 10 and I don’t want it to stop at all!!! God of War is on my shelves, but it’s gonna have to wait, Kiryu’s first!
Being away from home for a few days, it’s Switch time for me, playing LA Noire and maybe other games, who knows... The real challenge will be to resist buying Yakuza 6 and God of War when I return...
I « know » the series from a demo of the first one on PS2 and the two PSP episodes (please don’t punch me!). I have a huge backlog, I surely won’t be able to resist already buying Yakuza 6, I shouldn’t buy this one too but... well... it really, reeeaaallllllyyy seems good...
Good news. It looks like from recent titles that developers just begin to really master the beast, and especially the PS4 Pro, as seen with titles like Horizon and the future God of War and Spider-Man. Now, I know people will laugh at me for saying this, but I keep dreaming of a new portable gaming device or solution from Sony...
So... (even if I’m a tad late to the party).
This weekend as been all about Mass Effect Andromeda. I just finished it. And I LOVED it. Yes, there were bugs and technical mishaps but I didn’t care. I was totally immersed in it, and the writing was very good too! It’s my favorite Mass Effect with Mass Effect 3 (liked the first one, didn’t like the second). Knowing that there won’t be a sequel is making me angry. And really sad. Andromeda’s Pathfinder and his crew deserved so much better!
Also, I started Resident Evil 7. A good game. Everything is dirty and gross and disgusting. I have to get out of this house to take a shower!!!
I should play on my Vita too. I have games to finish, but Sony’s attitude towards this machine is weirdly stopping me...
Hi everyone! After months dedicated to the Switch I came back to my PS4 in full force: as it was my birthday Friday, I received Mass Effect Andromeda, Resident Evil 7, Gravity Rush 2 and Nier Automata. I only started Mass Effect a bit (understand: a LOT), and I love it! The series still does wonder for this Babylon 5 nostalgic! I may come back to my Vita too, as I kind of miss her...

Re: There's Been a Big Scandal About Whether PS5 Can Run Games in 4K
@Gilvin so... what? You think there's some truth in those rumors?
Re: PS4 to PS5: All Games with Confirmed Free Upgrades
What about Yakuza 7? This one is really important!
Re: There's Been a Big Scandal About Whether PS5 Can Run Games in 4K
@Gilvin if that's true it really is a despicable practice.

I think you're being a bit harsh with one of the best games ever released on PS4 with Persona 5 Royal and Yakuza 6.

Kingdom Hearts 3 for me, as it was released a little earlier in France. So far, so good, I'm glad to be reunited with these characters.
