@Sil_Am No where am I trying to convince anyone to not buy it. I literally said don't let my feelings try to take away from anyone who loved it. Maybe you would like that comment better in the form of a cutscene. Perhaps reading isn't your forte.
@NEStalgia It goes back to our age old discussion. I find reading engaging, movies I do not. I literally don't watch TV/movies, outside of the very occasional anime series, and even then I can only tolerate it with an episode at a time because I eventually just get bored and wander off. So, no. Traditional FF games involved a whole lot of reading, not gazing into the screen literally doing not a single thing. I miss reading in games. I could draw more comparison to X or XIII from what I played than any other entry, and imo, X and XIII are basically the worst mainline entries. I think hardware advancements have in so many ways just absolutely ravaged the things in games I actually enjoy.
The demo is obviously the very opening of the game. But it's like, I finally got control of Clive then took two steps forward. Cutscene. It's even more obnoxious than something like TLOU.
@NEStalgia You'll be happy to know I made it over an hour in and just deleted the demo. I basically just watched cutscenes for an hour, rolled my eyes and ended my suffering. Now, I'm not going to take anything away from the rest of the fine folks here that love it, but man, this ain't for me. I'm not here to watch movies, I'm here to play games. I'm going to go shed some tears in the kingdom now.
@awp69 I'm 45 minutes in and I feel like I have walked, and watched cutscenes. I got to do a training section that was more informational than fun. This really is not selling me on this at all.
I'm glad the new Xbox studios are finally starting to get these projects in order. I saw tons of games I'm excited for. It's going to be a clash of the titans between BotW and Starfield for the Keighleys, me thinks.
@UltimateOtaku91 I'll back you up on this one. Of course Zelda is huge, but let no one kid themselves that Genshin Impact is a gaming phenomenon of its own. But hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The guys that designed Genshin made it no secret that they loved BotW and that inspired them to make Genshin, and look at em now. Maybe Foamstars has a chance.
@Judal27 Yeah, it's honestly bizarre to me. Kitase and Nojima originally wrote FFVII collaboratively, so really, it's theirs to do what they will. It's just one of those situations where they can, but I'm not really sure that they should. Lol
I'll have to go back and finish the first game someday. I got pretty far into it and my save bugged and I got stuck in loading limbo forever. I also remember the game being pretty frustrating at times, mostly due to a pretty steep, but probably rewarding learning curve.
@Judal27 See, that's the part I'm not sure about. Part of me even wonders how big a hand Nojima played in the "re-writing". Considering he was one of the original writers, I guess he has some clout in that department. But Nojima also primarily wrote the KH games, so maybe I'm directing to much of my frustration at Nomura when maybe I should be shaking my fist at Nojima.
@Judal27 I mean, I do think a lot of it is open to interpretation because it's a huge question with a pretty vague response. This question is particularly aimed at expanding Midgar, which of course wasn't exactly fleshed out enough in the original to make a full game of. That said though, even if Kitase was shooting for more dramatic changes, Nomura met him somewhere in the middle and I would still tell anyone that I think Nomura was the man responsible for the last two hours of that game, because it just 100% looks like his handy work. So, I'll give Nomura credit that had he not stepped up and pushed back against Kitase, it might have gone even further off the rails. So, I'd still tell you the game has been injected with Nomura nuttiness, because it has, it just maybe wasn't entirely his idea.
@Judal27 You show me the receipts to back that up and I'll change my tune. Otherwise, imo FF7R was just injected with the same brand of gibberish Nomura nuttiness that is Kingdom Hearts.
I was pretty bent out of shape about the last two hours of Remake, but upon playing it a second time with the release of Intergrade I've come to accept that Nomura is a plague on my life that I cannot escape. Just go ahead and give me the game, Nomura warts and all. It'll have to do.
@NEStalgia We often get that blame, I'm used to it by now. However, it was surely the work of some other evil ***** in the finance department. Really, the blame probably falls right at the feet of Hiroki Totoki. He was the one that did this to me.
@Powerplay94 @belmont Well, that's lame. I used to back my PS4 saves up all the time when I didn't have PS+ in the past. Oh well, Sony is just continuing to convince me to use my PS5 less and less. What a silly thing to do on their end.
I'm 100% letting my PS Extra and PC Game Pass lapse. I'll give Nintendo $20 for cloud saves and the occasional online match of Splatoon 3, but I doubt I'll even keep PS+ Essential. I can back PS saves up on a thumb drive easily, so I can live without PS cloud saves.
@NEStalgia I dunno. I think there is zero question that HoloLens was used exactly the way you just described, but I def think Apple is expecting some typical consumers to pick one of these up. They apparently have forecast only 900,000 in the first year, so they seem to at least know these aren't going to just fly off the shelves. I think at this price point, though... 900,000 is still kind of a lot.
@Tharsman You can 100% buy digital codes for Xbox games. Maybe not every game, but the redemption vouchers are 100% hanging on the shelf at Walmart. I think it's more just a publisher decision. Newegg sells a lot of Xbox codes as well, often on sale sometimes even day one. I know that just happened with Jedi: Survivor.
@NEStalgia Might as well just sell your Switch now, because you know you just can't wait to get addicted to Foamstars on your Playstation Q. Who needs ink when you can clearly have foam instead? There probably won't be a cacophony of cephalopods, though. You know Square Enix has hit a new low when they're basically just plagiarizing Nintendo. Lol
I mean, PS Remote play is great inside my home using the local network.. However, trying connect from outside it is not so great. I think this has uses, but ultimately just isn't quite as useful as a full blown portable like a Switch.
@IOI I've said for a while that Ryan and Hulst have still been riding on the coat-tails of their predecessors. We're getting into territory where we will finally start seeing their Playstation, and not just the projects that were started prior to them assuming the helm. It's looking... Kinda off. So, let's just hope for the best, because I think we're supposed to be excited about this game from Haven and Firewalk... And uhhhh. I don't think those are it.
I'm pretty excited for the entire not quite E3 season. With two years of silence, I'd be shocked if the PS showcase isn't great, so expectations are pretty high. However, I'm expecting the Xbox showcase to probably have some exciting news as well. It will surely be a fun month of gaming news.
As someone who abhors games like Devil May Cry, I'm just overly conflicted on this game. I'll give the demo a whirl and see how it goes. I'm not opposed to changing my mind, but that demo has some serious convincing to do.
@NEStalgia What do you mean?! I thought the video game industry was clearly just a series of non-profit organizations developing video games for the fans in a selfless pursuit of altruism for the betterment of the arts?!
@Ralizah Even as a PC gamer, I really can't argue with the 2-3 year gap. I mean, I bought a PS5. Clearly their devious scheme worked. However, Xbox console players absolutely moan constantly about feeling like second class citizens, and in ways they really are. The entire Xbox strategy exists by Phil's own admission that they're never going to out console Sony or Nintendo, and Sony isn't really digging around looking for places for people to actually buy their software like MS is.
Same idea as PS+, they aren't just giving away the farm. Exhaust the initial release sales and try to drive some more consoles, then start using alternative distribution channels to squeeze a little bit more out of the software. Interestingly enough, I'm finding that I don't buy PS 1st party games, but I think I will remain subbed to PS+ because they are adding them steadily enough that I'm plenty patient to wait. I figure I have to pay for cloud saves, might as well go the extra mile and buy that cheap year of Extra on Black Friday. It's funny though, I bought the PS5 and I'm finding myself still waiting to play PS5 exclusives. But hey, when you have a Switch, PS5 and a PC, you don't exactly have a shortage of good software.
@HotGoomba If a PSVR2 were compatible with a PC, I'd seriously own one by now. I have zero VR headsets, so I'm basically left torn between getting one for PC or one for the PS5. I'd kinda just like to have the one headset to rule them all.
@Ralizah I'm sure you probably know this, but it's always been so interesting to me that the first games Koei ever released were eroges. They go from Seduction of the Condominium Wife and Night Life to... Nobunaga's Ambition. Lol
@ScuttyT Geez. If you read any of my long-winded comments about pseudo-erotic games above, you could safely assume that I don't have a sex partner. Use your freaking head, man!
@NEStalgia Hey... Uhh... Buddy. I think you got called out by ScuttyT. I know you're probably really upset right now, but I'm here for you if you need to talk about it.
