Wish I hadn't read this. Was thinking I'd pick this up in a year or so when it was on sale but now it's sounding like I'm gonna be buying it closer to launch. FFS.
@JB_Whiting of course they are. Same as every other industry it's about getting things done quicker and cheaper. Who cares about the planet, who cares about the Human cost?
@Andy22385 is there a decent way to do the lightning in FF10, or is it literally just a get gud situation? I'm only missing 10, 9, Type-0 and the two FF7 remakes now.
I wonder if this means they'll be taking the 'back to origins' levels out of Legends if they're selling an Origins remaster separately. Classic Ubi if so. Give us something we've been clamouring for in one hand, rip us off while doing it.
@1970sGamer I like Eurogamer a lot. Probably some of the best games writing out there. People seem to get rubbed up the wrong way about their review scores a lot and time and time again the editorial staff there have said they wouldn't even put scores on their reviews if it wouldn't hurt the site so much now review aggregator sites hold so much power.
@get2sammyb I know what you're saying, but don't know if I agree with that fully. I always take Peter Bradshaw as a good example of this. I have such differing tastes to the man, he writes almost contrarian at times I swear. But every time I read one of his reviews I know whether I'll like the film or not off what he says, even if he hates the film and I love it.
As for the link to the past and souls comparisons. They don't quite do it for me, for one the soulslike genre is so big now it's hard to say whether I'll like them or not. I like dark souls, I didn't like lords of the fallen. I liked Lies of P, I didn't like The Surge. I'll end up giving this a go at some point I'm sure. Shovel Knight was good enough that I owe this a chance, I just think the quality of reviews on this site is normally pretty high and this was a prominent outlier for me for what's a decently high profile game.
Ah man, no offence to the author or the team at Push Square. I love the site. But this is a really poor review. You say the game's not for you, you admit to breaking the difficulty and mashing the attack button to win. I mean, props to admitting the problem is with you and not the game, but I didn't really come away from the article knowing whether the game's gonna be for me or not
I didn't preorder it, but I did buy it launch day on a whim. £25, why not? Played it once, never touched it since. Should have just had an Indian instead.
I've been online gaming now for close to 20 years. Never while waiting in a lobby for a game to start have I thought I needed more entertaining. That's downtime. You need downtime between matches / games. We've already got increasingly short attention spans we need to be actively fighting stuff like this, as innocuous as it sounds, it's hurting the development of us and future generations.
Sony absolutely does have a returns policy on digital games. Granted, normally downloading the game to your system would invalidate any refund, so this is still an exceptional case.
Definitely some major overreacting here (when hasn't there been in the 15 years of ps plus though?) A fine if not spectacular group of games. Considering we got Alan Wake 2 last month I'd say this is pretty good for an 'off' month.
@aj21009 I've never liked paradise and always wished they'd stayed more true to burnout 3 / revenge's format. The open world always felt a bit naff compared with NFS, and I hated the way races worked just giving you a start and endpoint. Something about the progression of it just got stale after the initial couple of hours
Great to see the series coming over, but i always feel, especially with the first game, that the art style was so perfect in the OG release. Every time they tinker it just looks off. For my money they'd be better porting over 1-3 as a 'HD trilogy.' Original games, original graphics, maybe a bit of upscaling but nothing more.
My introduction to the series. Absolutely loved the 3 PS3 games back in the day. Have a massive Yakuza backlog though (still haven't played 6!) so I'll pick this up on sale
Don't normally go in for these sorts of games but I played the 1 hour game trial and it absolutely hooked me. Will probably pick it up over the weekend
@UnusedBabyWipes the original oblivion had all of these issues especially on consoles. I wouldn't be worried about MGS3 off the back of this as I suspect these issues for Oblivion are deeply engrained in the DNA of the game

Let's not forget CarX Street, JDM Drift Master, Tokyo Xtreme Racer. It's a good time for racing games on ps5

@redd214 most enjoyable grind I've ever done for a platinum trophy. So proud of that one and loved every minute of it.
