Re: Talking Point: Is Forza Horizon 5's PS5 Price Point Too High?

RiverGenie

@Dampsponge ok cool how is that a comparison or even relevent Can you buy an Xbox to play it on if you don't already own one for the remaining cost, no!

Sometimes games are discounted in sales on Playstation and not Xbox This is also true vice versa. Promotions and sales happen at different stores & retail outlets not all of them offer the same deals.

Fact is at the moment It's a new game on Playstation store and it has a new game price as a result.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Monster Hunter Wilds?

RiverGenie

@Deadlyblack I watched a streamer yesterday who got a promo copy & he spent the first 1 hour 30 minutes essentially trouble shooting so the game didn't stutter. I mean even the menu was lagging when he was moving between settings

Different folks, different set-ups and different experience.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Monster Hunter Wilds?

RiverGenie

I have tried Monster Hunter games in the past and they never really clicked.

Even if I was into the franchise all I am seeing online are complaints about performance on pretty much every platform (but especially pc ) so I would have held off on this one anyway.

Re: PSVR2 Gets Enormous Price Reduction Starting March 2025

RiverGenie

Still would be a £400 dust collector. There just aren't enough games to justify it at that price.

As it is I can see myself only using it on GT7 and depending on the daily races I can go weeks without playing that game.

Half it again and it would be in the realms of consideration, for me at least

Re: Xbox Games on PS5 Is a Win for PlayStation Owners, Says Yoshida

RiverGenie

@LogicStrikesAgain. Fine I understand the logic but there is more to life than logic.

Let me try to explain why something reviewing well doesn't mean it's going to resonate with people .

The Shawshank Redemption, The Fight Club many others films we now consider classics bombed in the box office despite receiving critical acclaim on their release. Going further back films such as The Wizard of Oz and Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory all initially bombed in the box office despite being considered classics & well loved these days.

Did the audiences look at those reviews objectively and think well those folks know what they are talking about then go in their droves to watch them. Nope not at all quite the opposite at the time (many of those films didn't find an audience until much later or when they released on a different format.)

You will find many examples of this in most creative endeavours including games

Which is why I find using reviews scores as your benchmark for the success of something to be narrow & myopic view point. and why I try to push back against that bludgeon when folks use it

If you don't like that feel free to put me on your ignore list (& that applies to everyone else). I can live with that but I will still keep passing on my thoughts as I see fit.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day

Re: Xbox Games on PS5 Is a Win for PlayStation Owners, Says Yoshida

RiverGenie

@ChrisDeku people say any old nonsense regardless.

Take you for instance, if something reviews well I just ignore my own personal preference, likes & dislikes? I am not a reviewer I have no obligation to be objective I am just a gamer who likes what I like.

My opinion isn't irrelevant to me and I can decide for myself what I think of anything including Sony's output. I don't expect you or anyone else to agree with me I ain't that arrogant and I don't need other people to validate it either.

If you think different great good for you. I respect that you can come to your own conclusions and think for yourself. Though I don't necessarily agree with you and your thoughts process but that is fine too. The world would be extremely dull if we all looked at stuff the same way.

Well I have games to play enjoy the rest of your day my dude.

Re: Xbox Games on PS5 Is a Win for PlayStation Owners, Says Yoshida

RiverGenie

@ChrisDeku good or rubbish is a subjective personal thing.

Me for instance the only game I play on your list from current gen is GT7. Tried many of the others but bounced of them for one reason or another.

I am at a point now that GT7 is the only reason for me to own a PS5, which I am ok with.

Just because you or many others like something it doesn't mean everyone will and that will change their view of the current gen.

And no before you say it no I do not have to look at stuff objectively and can base my thoughts on the PS5 on my own subjective opinion.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Point of Days Gone Remastered After Graphics Comparison Emerges

RiverGenie

"While we do understand the criticism, we sometimes think fans misunderstand why these remasters exist."

Nope I am understanding perfectly why remasters exist and it's to squeeze more blood (money) out of the stone.

That is the only reason they exist as with most things in a commercial industry, money is the be all and end all of it. Any other justification is just smoke & mirrors to make you open your wallet.

Re: Reaction: The PS5 Discourse Around State of Plays Is Becoming Draining

RiverGenie

At the moment the only game I play on my PS5 is GT7 multiplayer.

Simply due to non of the big name games being appealing enough to me to get them at full price. There are a few I may pick up in sales down the line but even then it's not that many.

My taste in games has just moved in a different direction to what Sony & PlayStation are putting out at the moments.

Re: PS Plus Members Are Upgrading to Higher Tiers on PS5, PS4

RiverGenie

As it stands when my sub comes up in for renewal in April I am downgrading to the lowest tier so I can keep playing GT7 multiplayer. The "benefits" of the ps+ top tier are just not worth the price, for me.

Especially when compared to what I got from Gamepass Ultimate over the same period of time. Certainly played more ultimate games on Xbox than I did with ps+ premium on playstation.

Re: Picturesque British Setting Belies Atomfall's Post-Apocalyptic Dangers

RiverGenie

One of the few games I am genuinely excited for this year.

I would suggest folks not go in expecting Fallout or Stalker as you will probably be disappointed.

I have seen the premise of this game described as a non linear survival detective story with multiple routes to completion depending on how you go about things.

It all sounds very interesting to me and it will be a nice change to have a game set in rural England. Hope it's lives up to it promise.

Re: Free PS Plus Extension for All Members Affected by PSN Outage

RiverGenie

I appreciate the free ps+ time even if downtime didn't affect me in the slightest.

For me I just played on my Xbox and also did other non gaming related stuff instead. You know like a normal functioning and balanced adult would do. It's possible I might be an outlier though given the angst & tears I saw on social media.

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Failed Because It Wasn't Live Service, EA CEO Seems to Suggest

RiverGenie

@Titntin yup it's basically one character in the entire game and you can easily ignore them or don't engage if it's something that's pushes your buttons.

But YouTube being what it is folks went in pushed the button and then acted outraged for what was essentially a views / engagement farming exercise for their channels

Dragon Age Veilguard was one of the better games I played last year easily top 5. I find it a great shame that it got the reception it did and that essentially killed any chance of any follow dlc or content.

And swinging back to the article if the CEO thinks it was the lack of live service that killed the game then EA needs a new CEO urgently.

Re: February 2025 PS Plus Essential Games Available Now

RiverGenie

@Darkri74345 Sorry for not being excited for stuff I already played or have no interest in. Just because something is labeled a classic that doesn't automatically mean everyone will like it or have an interest in it

If you are enjoying the offerings great and I hope you have fun but other folks are free to come to their own conclusions based on their own criteria (and you are free to continue to disagree.)

Re: February 2025 PS Plus Essential Games Available Now

RiverGenie

Both High on Life & Pay Day 3 already been on Xbox so that's two losses right out the gate .

I enjoyed High on Life for what it's worth but don't see a point in playing it again on a different platform. Pay Day 3 yeah nope.

The Pac Man game is something I haven't played and that's not going to change either.

So all in all a dud month for my PS5.

Re: Best PS5 Headsets in 2025 - Enhance Your Audio Experience

RiverGenie

Do any of these let you have duel audio inputs from different sources. Say one from PS5 & one from phone? I have Pulse 3D & as far as I know it only accepts one input.

The official Xbox wireless headset let you do this and it's handy if I want to play a game like Minecraft and also listen / watch a stream on my phone.

Re: Spider-Man 2's Looking Like Another PC Own Goal from Sony

RiverGenie

Got to love the comments regarding a lack of respect for Sony when Sony are the ones releasing unoptimised games with poor performance.

It's no wonder folks don't want to spend money & go the pirate route. That does devalue the brand but a lot of that is on Sony too it's not just a one sided problem as some of you are trying your hardest to spin this

Tldr release ***** get ***** in return

Re: Poll: Are You Buying Forza Horizon 5 on PS5?

RiverGenie

Played it on Series X but even if I hadn't I still wouldn't buy it as I am very bored with open world racing in general. I much prefer traditional track racing games like GT7, ACC & Forza Motorsport.

Don't get me wrong FH5 is a good open world racer and well worth your time but it's just not something I have any interest in right now

Re: Halo PS5 Rumours Intensify in Aftermath of Forza Horizon 5 Reveal

RiverGenie

@Member_the_game create a new user on playstation and you can start over. I have my main account plus 2 additional ones I made just for GT7.

So that gives me 2 accounts that for GT7 multiplayer are based in the emea region & the 3rd account is US region.

I race in multiplayer almost exclusively and sometimes you will get targeted by an angry toddler having a tantrum over multiple races. When that happens I just hop accounts to race under a different persona & go back to enjoying my races while the toddler settles down.

Re: New Gran Turismo 7 PS5, PS4 Update Live Now, More Cars and Events

RiverGenie

@themightyant I can't obviously give a definitive answer but the folks I know who play GT7 have not purchased game credits.

I have 38 million credits just from playing multiplayer races and selling daily roulette cars I have won but don't want. I am never going to spend them as there is nothing I personally want.

Re: Ubisoft Indefinitely Delays Planned Story DLC for The Division 2

RiverGenie

Just do a YouTube search on The Division 2 & I imagine you will be surprised about how much current content there is for the game. The game has had a pretty decent update cadence over the past year or so for such an old gane

It has a what was a very loyal core fan base but with this recent announcement I think this might be the straw that breaks the camels back. As you can imagine this news has not been well received to say the least.

Re: Mailbox: The Joy of Astro Bot, Ciri in The Witcher 4, and Terrible Trophy Lists

RiverGenie

I am quite excited to see Ciri in the Witcher 4. Anyone who was following the stories in game could see her becoming the main focus a mile away. My expectation is that Geraldt will take up the Vesemir role going forward & I am ok with that personally.

I always get annoyed when people complain about lore in a fictional setting and use it as a justification to not change anything.

It's fiction they can do anything they want that fits the narrative they want to tell.

Most of the time this sort of complaint is just a justification to cover some other narrow minded nonsense that a person has and they don't really care about the lore or characters in the first place.

Re: Warhammer RPG Rogue Trader Completes 1 Million Transactions

RiverGenie

I like Owlcat as a dev studio. They aren't perfect and their games can be buggy (though they usually fix things up over time.) However, they know how to craft an interesting & enjoyable crpg.

I have put many many hours into their games (Inc rogue trader) & look forward to their future projects

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Director Is Leaving BioWare

RiverGenie

I tend to ignore obvious hate train dog piling campaigns that seem prevalent these days. They are usually fueled by streamers or websites desperate for views & engagement so they can milk the ad revenues.

As such I went into Veilguard with an open mind and had a fantastic time. Enough that I have done a run through on each class. I am actually kind of sad that we won't see more of this game and that there are no further plans for content.

Worth your time for sure.

Re: Dev Knows Path of Exile 2's Endgame Is 'Too Severe', Says It's 'Important'

RiverGenie

I would love to engage in end game more but the sad reality right now on console (both on PS5 & Series X, yes I purchased two beta keys & yes I am an idiot.) is that due to the severe FPS drops it's virtually unplayable beyond really early mapping.

I am cool with the maps being one shot & done but when nine times out of ten it's an optimisation reason I fail them I get a little peeved.

Yup it's early access & I hope this stuff will be sorted eventually. However I can only judge what is in front of me now and right now it ain't that great in endgame on console.

Re: Major Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.1.1 Releases This Week, Promising Lots of Positive Changes

RiverGenie

While the patch is good I was disappointed with the nearly complete lack of console specific stuff.

Yay we got filters I am sure that will help the screen tearing, FPS drops and the numerous other things console players have issues with & have reported.

This is further compounded by an interview with Jonathan Rodger & Mark Roberts on the Tavern Talk podcast immediately after the patch announcement.

They were asked many questions and gave multi-minute detailed answers to those questions except when asked about consoles.

Their answer was basically we need to do better with nothing specific for consoles given and quickly rushed on to next question.

I know it's early access and they have a lot to deal with but it feels pretty bad being a console player who is giving feed back at this point.

It's that lack of engagement from GGG that is pushing me away from PoE 2 more than any of the actual issues.

Re: STALKER 2 Dev Says There's No Current Plans for PS5

RiverGenie

As others have said Stalker 2 is an extremely immersive game and well worth playing, even in its current state on Xbox.

I wouldn't dismiss it based on the Xbox launch as a lot of those issues will have been smoothed out by the time you all get it on PS5 (you're welcome from day 1 Xbox player who has been reporting bugs on official discord)

I am sure there will be PS5 specific problems too & as long as you go in aware of that and roll with it instead of expecting perfection you all will have a good time.

Re: STALKER 2 Dev Says There's No Current Plans for PS5

RiverGenie

@gollumb82 some good news with regards to Legends of the Zone trilogy. They are planning to release a next gen update for that series at some point in 2025. They just said on consoles (not a specific console) so I would assume that will be for PS5 & Series consoles.

Re: Diablo 4 Squares Up to Path of Exile 2, Goes Free-to-Play on PS5, PS4 Over the Holidays

RiverGenie

Path of Exile 2 will be a great game eventually the bones are certainly there.

However there are some major performances problems on console right now that detract. Especially when you get to maps the fps tanks.

That's what the early access is for though to find these issues so GGG can solve them.

As it stands right now Diablo 4 is the more polished game if a bit shallower when it comes to content & progression.
