@StrickenBiged so other regions doesnt buy it out on bulk and make proffit when reselling around the world. It is to deter people by software locking it. In general, it is long term "sale" in Japan to boost PS5 playerbase
@Rodimusprime13 or people are waiting for some inspiration why they should get new console. GTA 6 will be biggest pusher for extra casual gamers to upgrade to PS5, who maybe havent played games for longer period of time. Look at statistics, PS5 has shipped 86 million. Sold maybe 80m+. But active userbase is 119m on PSN. There are plenty of potential customers which hasnt purchased PS5 yet. Companies in Investor calls can't knowingly lie or they would be penalised and sued left and right. Even if they choose not to state correct numbers - "shipped", not "sold", they wouldnt ship out consoles if previous consoles wouldnt be sold. It is same as with GTA 5. GTA 5 is still selling 5m+ of copies every 3 months as PS5 are sold, around 4 million in last 3 months. Why could Switch console be selling like hot cakes all these years, but PS5 not? PS6 will not be cheaper than PS5. PS5 will still have support for next 5 years. It is great time to buy PS5. There are plenty of games available and more to come.
@CutchuSlow you do math only to maximize your view in most positive way. Dont tell me you can sell used graphics card every 3 years for 70% of its value. Yes, there is sub to PS. Games are more expensive on average, but still, PC is more premium device. Yes, it is more versatile, does lot more things. But which platform has plug and play option? How long your motherboard will keep up with compatible sockets. If you can afford initial costs for PC, then yeah, its great option. You know what is the best option? To have both. You know what console provides? Comfort. I switch on game and it works, 99% of time. Yes, there has been bad performing games historically. But with PC? Switch on new game. Oh, I need drivers? Okay. Oh, I need to Compile Shaders? Ok. Oh, I need to find right graphics settings for each game because performance is not universal thing. There are some caveats with PC too, it is not just sunshine.
@Rodimusprime13 you are doubting facts? 86 million was for ps4 after 5 years and same 86 million is for PS5. Yes, units shipped, not sold, because it is easier to do and number is always slightly bigger because all shops has unsold stock. But that is only metric they control 100% even if it is not accurate sold units. What would be "here". It sound lot more expensive than 550 USD. If in your country electronics are sxpsnsive in general then everything is expensive I would assume. Or more precise, weaker currency
@CutchuSlow you still wouldnt be able to build new PC which would outperform PS5 for same value... it was same with PS3, PS4. How much costs PC which is outperforming PS5? I don't see relevance of better gpu, if it costs much more than console itself.
@Rodimusprime13 PS5 is selling on same pace as PS4 after 5 years. It really doesnt match your saying. People still are buying PS5 even with this full price.
@nomither6 I don't know what to say really. I have finished this year Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Expedition 33, Alters, Outer Worlds 2. Not even talking about last 5 years. Or maybe youbhave played so much, that you are gained resistance to newer games and see old games from youth as better games because you have warm memories. I don't know.
@Striker21 I would say, it was time to move from TLOU. 2nd game compared to 1st game bombed. Yes, it was still "good" enough on individual numbers, but 2nd game sold only 50% of 1st game. 3rd game would drop even more likely. Hopefully Intergalactic will be awsome.
@Striker21 it was from leaks. 1 billion development. Another billion for live service lifespan. Yes, those companies cant be compared in scale etc. But high quality AAA takes more than 5 years in making. And there is full of evidence for that. Even some AA games takes long time
@Striker21 how you get your stats slightly wrong? 1 billion is just to create game, story and online. Now with delays it is even more. And another 1 nillion was planned as post launch support for online for up to 10 years. All that speculation etc, but full cycle GTA budget is/was planned over 2 billion.
@1970sGamer why would you assume it is related to game? Maybe NDA covers lot more contract related and by discussing their contract "publicly" with 3rd party they broke contract terms. Union wouldn't need any info about upcoming games etc.
@TensuraFan7 I am just stating facts. I am not actively looking for friends. Again, not couldn't... they could do anything. It is corporate choice how they want to manage their company at present. Anything can change in future, especially if leadership changes eventually.
You are living in history. There has been plenty of changes in how R* operates and they are tasked to create biggest games. Just listen to Zelnick and how he talks about R*. R* will not be "wasting" time and resources on smaller projects.
@VicerExciser oh, thank you. Which is main studio behind L.A. Noire? It is not Rockstar I can say you that. (Yes, R* some of studios helped, but it is not fully R* product)
@PuppetMaster So you say that even bigger dev count could lead to more projects? Makes sense no? I doubt that all those Capcom devs are working on single project at same time. While practically all R* Games are working on one title - GTA 6 for past 5+ years. And previously RDR2. Isnt R* last games individually much bigger than any given project from Capcom? I just don't get your point. Yes, R* has plenty of devs, but that is like one big team which is needed to deliver mega project, which would be now GTA6. None of other companies has created project similar to scale of GTA5/6/RDR2...
@dardel at present time their vision is for 10 years of support. If there will be enough players to justify that then why not. It will be massive game at the end.
@carlos82 yes and no. Why would they pivot from Open world games and established work experience? You wouldnt expect from Naughty Dog to create open world game just to better suit for their narrative choice? They would ditch open world game and stay to samey more linear approach, because they know how to do that...
@Shinnok789 imagine, those devs need to develop game with DLSS and FSR, then optimized for PS5/Xbox and then to do special development for PS5 PRO and PSSR. PSSR is future, but this is first device with it, and only amll portion of people has bought PS5 Pro. It is specific device. PSSR will come with PS6 and then it will be expected for all major companies to include that on day one release. In feneral, why would any company make such implementing of PSSR for 1% of playerbase? Only reasonable way is for Sony to incentivize that.
Already has finished 1st Playthrough at 50hours. Playing on PS5 Pro. I havent noticed any specific things after they switched from PSSR to TSR. Maybe side by side would give me better comparision. But even before game runned pretty well, with small hiccups in specific placee but not so often.
And this time I am on other side, all there are talks for performance/Digital foundry etc comes from technical view point reviewing any specific issue and not from simply playing game. In total I have spent 70+ hours into game.
You know which game had awfull grass at launch? Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on that grass map, but it was fixed couple months down the line. OW2 has never been close to that mess.
@Dogbreath in that case yeah, that service looks great for around 100hrs or less players. Seemingly GeForce Now has better reviews when they released "5080" architecture. But still, we are moving more and more to rent and not own and being happy.
@Dogbreath you didn't mentioned that Ultimate GeForce Now has 100 hours monthly limit. And extra hours cost 2x more than first 100h. So 1 month costs 20£. 1h is at best value 20p/h. 15 hours cost 6£, which would be 40p/h. So it is only value product if games are played pretty casually... And yes, I play a lot. Already put 60hours in The Outer Worlds 2 alone. From my perspective, where I am gaming a lot, GeForce Now Ultimate would cost me 700£ in year alone. Ridiculous
Embark has stated clearly, yes, there is no guaranteed Solo, but game prioritises Solo, Duo players to put in same session with other Solo, Duo players respectively. And if there is not enough players , then it mixes in Trio's, etc.
@Rich33 yes, in this case, if everything is perfect? Then I have to say - No, improvements are needed for smokth experience. Day one patch aswell shows that, that there is bug fixing etc, and fixes will continue in future. Hmm, I cant say which game really came out on day one without any issues? Maybe Sony 1st party games like Ghost of Yotei? But I havent played that.
@Dogbreath You said GamePass. GamePass is Xbox... And it is okay if there is good internet connection, no delays for co trol and streaming doesnt flacruate in visual quality and stays in those 4k. But after those 3-4 years you will still continue to pay for subscription. In overall renting is more expensive in long run. And you need to commit yearly pay to get those 12 months in price of 10. But again, such service is for those who can afford. Most of players cant afford buying Pro and keeping expensive subscription for GFN at the same time. Probably you still have PS+ sub aswell active for ehich you paid. Yes, you can get games cheaper through Steam than PS Store.
@Rich33 but at the end of day, DF is technical approach to this not real life approach. Yes, they can analyse numbers and see logical thongs, but they are not playing games, not really. Some shimmering here and there, some lower pixelated area will not play significant role while playing. But focusing only on those reviews you are building thoughts that everything is bad without even trying out yourself. I am plying on Performance mode, and it feels stable enough with 60fps
@Dogbreath again with your GFN. Do what you want, but paying 200£ yearly or 20£ per month for streaming platform only and add GamePass? Uff. Why are you even here and not in PureXbox But keep flexing how rich you are
@Rich33 I am playing on Pro, and I dont feel any significant issues with performance. Yes, on one map in specific location, non city, there was alaays FPS drop, but in overall this game feels, looks good. @TheFakulty and warzone is not competing with COD itself? Those are two different experiences tho. Multiplayer with 2 teams, or only fight for yourself. Nice cool missions to complete while battling other squads. And F2P will attract some of rhose who didnt want to spend money for BF6
@Oram77 you are confused. Only you are staggering it. Years away is for both, PS6 and handheld. There is no point to mention PS6 console if all article is about handhelds...
I have played 4 hours of Outer Worlds 2 today on PS5 PRO. Performance mode is my choice and it looks good. There is slight surface inconsistency here and there, like slight shimmering, there was in cutscene some shadow shimmering, but nothing is game breaking or taking me really out of game. In overall game looks good, feels good and in general I am enjoying game.
@T-Bone09 Yeah, I would like such game as seperate too. COD/BF weapon combat is very satisfying. And it is hard for established brands to add substantial games because people will never really think Extraction shooter when you will say COD or BF. But again, I am stressed about PvP in those games. Same with arc raiders. That game feels great, it could ramp up AI, but PvP part brings up stress which I don't enjoy. And they will go with PvP heavy for DMZ 2.0 too. I can imagine they will not think to implement Solo servers...
@T-Bone09 Extraction shooter requires lot more development than simple Battle Royale. Battle Royale is like addition using all available resources already in game, Extraction shooter would need to be more substantial game. Activision invested some time, but probably numbers showed, that it is not generating enough of interest/money to evolve it properly. I played DMZ a lot. But look at Arc Raiders, that is proper Extraction Shooter. To expect something close to that from BF6/COD is not realistic.
