Wait now you can stream games directly from the cloud without having to download them on your ps5? That's really a huge upgrade!
Ia there any info on whether it's available for PS+ Deluxe (what some countries get instead of Premium), since in Deluxe there is no streaming of PS3 games?
yeah nope, psprices(.)com all the way. I use the PS Store only and only when I've decided to buy something.
There is no reason whatsoever to use the store, and I just can't understand why. Isn't there some kind of research that shows you sell more with a tidy and easy to use UI in your store?
I'm still surprised after all this time that people are not heavily criticizing this game for being very ugly (albeit with a lot of "cool"effects). These body models are just horrendous, early PS4 era at best, but you'd never see this mentioned in mainstream review for whatever reason. Pushsquare called it "An audiovisual feast" ffs.
I have high expectations for this game. Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed was fantastic both on PS3 and Vita, so I'd love to see a return to form.
I've been waiting for a good kart racer on PS5 (PS4 had Crash Team Racing which I'm still playing...), hopefully this is it.
@Jammer Exactly my thoughts too : it's so sad to see these beautiful worlds with at least mildly interesting stories and great art design getting completely ruined by over complex systems and aggressive monetization. Such a shame.
@GeneJacket Fair enough and thanks for the lengthy respectful and quite interesting reply.
While I agree the collection isn't just a bunch of roms on a disc, I'll push back on 2 points :
"a ridiculous amount of time" : the time put into making such a collection can't be compared to the time needed to create a new game, and while work time doesn't always equate value, 50$ (or 60$ for Switch2!!) is not what I would evaluate the value of such a collection. If this collection is to be viewed as a preservation endeavor, well, the price of a museum ticket should be applied, something like 10$, 15$ max.
you say the collection is for the hardcore fans, and I can't disagree on that as only these hardcore fans will find any value in it beyond a few minutes, but can we at least agree that Netherrealms is not marketing it this way, and is hoping for a lot more sales than just a few hardcore fans? And also, what is "hardcore fans" nowadays? It seems to me than anyone with an ounce of nostalgia for some games they played when they were kids/teens (and I'm one of them) want to feel included in this group. I've played countless hours of MK and MK2 on my Super Nintendo and in the arcade back in the day, but I wouldn't consider myself a "hardcore fan" and while I may enjoy some of the content of this collection, I'm sure a youtube video I could watch for free and/or a blog page from a retro gaming site like Time Extension would fully satisfy my curiosity. Now we can maybe pretend I'm in the minority here, but I don't think so, and if Netherrealms is producing such a game, it's because they count on people acting on their nostalgia and then very quickly regretting, or at least forgetting, their purchase...
I may be wrong, and the collection may well end up being an incredible work of preservation elevating all the games contained to a new level and offering buyers countless hours of gameplay and informative content... but somehow I don't think it will be the case and Netherrealms is in my opinion asking nostalgic gamers to buy what seems to be a nice, but in the end overpriced, collection of obsolete and/or bad games.
@AdamNovice Which is exactly the issue. If you're ready to pay full price for a few minutes of nostalgia with old games (most of them either bad, or now completely obsolete) when you could do it very easily for free, then we get this kind of packages. It's obviously a cashgrab, and like all cashgrabs, it'll work...
@AdamNovice There are countless devices, especially portable ones, made specifically for emulation with preexisting os and software that make emulation as easy as can get.
And any good guide will make the process of emulation very easy to anyone even without any technical know-how.
Now let's be serious : all these games are easily available via emulation and, in all honesty, how many of them are still enjoyable today, except for a few moments of nostalgia?
Proton Suite in general is a must in 2025. With AI everywhere, this last summer I went all in : Linux Mint on my PC, Graphene OS on my phone, Proton Suite for my mail, calendar, drive, passwords and VPN, and as much third party open-source apps for the rest. All for a small 12€/$ per month. Internet is really not the same after this.
@4fold so first, the answer to your question : no, I don't want the end of porn for adults, but I wouldn't be sad if it were to end. Like cigarettes, we know it's bad for us but we keep it around because adults are free to do whatever they want.
Now about the gangb**g : ideally, a 18 yo who faced the opportunity of doing one would refuse, because he would have the maturity gained by years of restraints and good education. Because yes, I don't thing gangb**gs are good things in themselves (while I would bnever try to ban these kind of behaviors, people should be free to do what they want wiht consent) : diseases, promiscuity, lack of emotional weight linked to the sexual... All these things have generally a negative impact on the individuala taking part in it, especially lf they are young.
And yes, being desensibilized to these kind of sexual acts to the point of taking part in it being not only a fantasy, but an ordinary opportunity, by watching porn since 11, is not good in my view.
@4fold And in the land of pink unicorns, people were living in harmony without war, murder nor theft. It was a paradise akin to the Garden of Eden, and the children were pure and innocent.
More seriously, no amount of education will be efficient against the libido of a 13 yo watching gangb**gs.
@TimeDelayedGamer I see your point and agree to a degree. It was true though only before internet. Today, for a kşd to access internet, he doesn't have to find his father's badly hidden stash (which would put the responsibility on the father), he accesses the porn directly from.any device. Parental controls work up to a point (believe me, my 11 yo students have explained me at length how they bypass them), so we need some responsibility to be taken by either the service provider (here, the porn site). Now, how this responsibility will look like is the crux if the matter. While I'm absolutely against gov imposing these kind if measure, if the result is simply people consuming less porn because they fear for their privacy, maybe it can be a goos thing (even though, since I'm a pessimist/realist, aI know people will not reduce their porn consumption and their data will end up everywhere...)
Please don't play dumb about this. A 11 year old kid with constant and immediate access to hardcore porn videos is harmed. Even without studies, this is just plain common sense.
@DennisReynolds Look, we agree about the law. It's meant for something else than what it pretends to be, and it should be repealed.
Now about porn for kids : parents' responsibility is crucial, but there needs to be incentive and consequences for good and bad parenting about porn, or else you're just crossing fingers everything will be well... when it won't.
As for teachers teaching kids about sex... yeah, as a teacher I can tell you, that doesn't work. Kids, and especially young teens, really don't want to hear about sex from Mrs. Thompson,, and she will most certainly not talk with them about all the categories in p.hub...
@TimeDelayedGamer Well, yes and no. You can't buy cigarettes or alcohol in most countries as a minor, and it's not only on your parents to check it. So yes, parents should check at home that their kids don't watch porn, but there should be other forms of gatekeeping beyond the parents.
@DreadfulDragon The idea that constant and immediate access to hardcore porn videos is not harmful to kids under 14 (or even 16) is ridiculous and you know it, please. Do not compare it to the few VHS tapes and Hustler magazines you found in your father's stash, you know it's not the same thing.
@TimeDelayedGamer Parents are responsible for not letting their kids drive, but there are still laws and permit to drive. I agree parents' responsibility is crucial, but this shouldn't prevent more general rules and laws to prevent bad things to happen to kids.
@Stevemalkpus The first is a real hidden gem, and people interested in a wonderful narrative game with interesting and dynamic game mechanics, all encompassed in a great artstyle should do well to play it.
But apparently the second game is very different. The artstyle is still there, but now it's a top-down rogue-lite like Hades... so yeah, the devs challenged themselves to do something different, but it's understandable that even those who liked the first one are not that much into this one.
I fully condone this refreshing approach to gaming. Make Sexy Great Again.
Joke aside, it will be interesting to see how the success of Stellar Blade, both in term of sales and media coverage, will impact the developent of AAA games. Will we get back a sexier God of War? Will Intergalactic offer skimpy outfits?
Not saying we need every game to include basic sexy elements, but it's refreshing to see bigger players ackowledging that yes, people like to look at beautiful bodies...
Damn how good was the PSP Go! I still rock one for all my emulators on the go. Pocketable, powerful, slick, all digital, just an incredible little device.
@NeonTiger "this is my favorite story put to any medium by a long shot"
Ok, so we've restricted "any medium" to games and movies (I guess I can safely add series too?).
I can't vouch for what you've seen, but you're really telling us without irony nor sarcasm that TLoU2's story was your favorite, even including every movie ever made?
Do you mean that it's your favorite even though it's not the best (for whatever reason, we all love bad/mid things sometimes, guilty pleasures and all that), or do you think it's the best story you've ever experienced?
@NeonTiger A bit hyperbolic there, aren't you? But tastes are what they are, so I won't argue about your liking of TLoU2 story, it's evident quite a lot of people liked it, even if I don't.
But agree with your take on adapting a game to another media. I think we haven't managed to step up to the point where we can accept that some games are just better at telling a story in a gripping and talented manner thanks to their interactive part. So people are still adapting games that shouldn't be adapted, thinking they'll get something better than the original because of a "nobler" art.
@NeonTiger That's a good take, imo. People adapting games to other media seems to forget that the best games are the one where the gameplay and the story mix together to make something better than its parts.
God of War III is a perfect example of this : 3 games of pure violence where you unleashed your inner rage following Kratos' revenge path, for it to end at a point where your blindness to your own action is revealed, as the violence, and the game, only ends if you stop hitting Zeus. A masterpiece of blending gameplay, story and message.
While I wouldn't praise TLoU2 as much for this, I agree the story was lacking but it was mitigated by your active investment in the world and the characters, whereas in the TV show, you have to suffer through the characters...
Oh another Last of Us article where stating the obvious will not be possible? Everyone knows exactly why (and there are multiple reasons) less and less people are watching this show...
@Ravix Please, that's a weak argument : you have to buy buggy expensive games at launch or gaming is done. Really?
First, there always will be launch day buyers : the misinformed, the addicted, the loyalists, the average buyer, etc... So the risk of no one buying games at launch is null. And even if a large number of customers were to shy away from launch day purchase, you'd find out that suddenly, AAA games could in fact launch in a stable state for 60$€.
Then, and this was my point, I disagree with a knowledgeable gamer buying a game at launch when it's buggy, lacking content and exprensive, as they can wait a few months and enjoy a cheaper, fuller and less buggy game. If you so buy at launch nowadays, you've knowingly bought an incomplete buggy mess at full price, so you should stop complaining and start waiting for deep sales.
@gamer153 Really, you have no backlog, no weird hole in your selective game collection to fill with an older game?
May I ask what your tastes in game are to be that selective you have nothing else to play when a new Assassin's Creed comes out? (no sarcasm, I'm genuinely curious, I love to learn how people approach the hobby differently)
@gamer153 While I agree with you about the state of modern gaming (and I mostly disagree about how the past was), it's on you if you did buy this game at launch. There is absolutely no reason to buy any game at launch nowadays, especially an AAA game and most specifically a single-player one, when you can get it at a big discount with all the content added and the bugs smoothed out in a few months. I really don't get how people can still spend 70-80$/€ for a game when they know, without any kind of doubt, they will get a worse experience than if they wait just a bit. Aren't there enough games to play that you can't wait?
@dardel My understanding is that some producers (executive producers) just give some money and get their names attached to the movie, without any real creative or managerial input. Maybe it's just that.
@L_Bosch I don't "identify" with my taste of entertainment. What I like is not who I am, and I think a lot of people would gain from not having an unhealthy relationship to the franchise they seem to love.
Would you care explaining why you disagree with the statement that you can be tolerant in real life towards something but at the same time not particularly eager to see it in your entertainment?
My argument about Assassin's Creed Shadows in the comment section is so truncated by the moderation that you can't really understand what I was trying to say with what is left.
About the p**n thing, you don't need to watch that kind of content to want attractive people. The whole point of Hollywood is to provide attractive people in every kind of situations, because people like to watch attractive people. I never thought this was controversial. Finding an actor completely unattractive will make you not like the content. This also doesn't seem controversial.
If the comment section doesn't seem to be the right place to do so, I'd be more than happy to continue this discussion on a platform more suited to one-on-one back-and-forth, though.

@lazarus11 I generally agree with everything you said.

@L_Bosch so criticising a show because it has some content you don't like or because you don't how an actor looks is "review bombing" now?
