Very tempted to get the handheld. I love the PS Portal, but there's definitely a part of me that wishes it just played games natively.

Ethan's saga has, in my eyes, already concluded. That's not to say there won't be any remnants from VII or Village, but I think 9 will focus more on established veteran characters.

@twitchtvpat I haven't seen many fake rumours myself, so I don't know if that's necessarily the issue.

I think folks are just too caught up in what Sony itself is doing these days. People may disagree with me, but the PS2 didn't become such a beloved console because of Sony's first-party line-up. It was the third-party games, and a lot of them were new IP.

People need to give these games a chance, or we'll be stuck with nothing but Horizon, Marvel games, and God of War for the next decade.

Did I watch something completely different to everyone else? It was great, lots of cool and interesting games on the horizon.

Well, it worked for Shadow of the Colossus, so I'm sure it will work for this, too.

No immediate denial means it's probably true, but waiting a week to clarify plans is insane. Speculation will only get worse over the next few days and it's already kind of exhausting.

I honestly enjoyed it. It's no P.T, but I found the story to be engaging, the environments were appropriately spooky, and the chase sections were genuinely panic-inducing. Considering it's free, it's a cool little experience.

This looks like the most 7/10 game imaginable, and I'm all here for it.

This isn't a particularly controversial statement from Ubisoft. Subscription platforms won't grow if people aren't comfortable with not owning their games. That's obvious.

What Tremblay is missing, however, is that there are the beginnings of a stir in the movie industry; consumers aren't as comfortable with the streaming subscription model as they once thought, and the bubble will soon burst.

He says that it's reassuring that games will remain in place, but I think there have been enough instances where that's actually not the case, and people are starting to embrace physical media more and more.

This is one of those games I remember playing as a child and loving, but I never got very far. I just don't think I was particularly good at it. If there's an option to purchase this standalone, then I'm 100% in.

I haven't played Spider-Man 2 yet. Why is everyone getting into a hissy fit about it?

@OneWingedAngel Final Fantasy is a flagship franchise, so it's only natural that Square Enix will want it to evolve and capture new audiences. At the same time, however, you've got games like Octopath Traveler II and Live A Live that cater to fans who might prefer more traditional turn-based RPGs. Everybody wins, in my eyes.

Buckle up, this is the way the industry at large is heading.

Alan Wake is one of my favourite games of all time, so I have extremely high hopes for the sequel. With that in mind, Remedy can absolutely take its time with this one. Please don't rush it out, for goodness sake.

Based on certain scenes in RE4, I suspect Capcom is probably gearing up to remake RE5 next (likely after RE9 or whatever it will be called). I'd love to see a reimagining of the first game that's more in line with the recent remakes in terms of gameplay and branding, but I don't think that'll happen. Code Veronica isn't particularly good, in my opinion, so I'm not personally clamouring for a remake of that one.

What difficulty settings have we got for this one, @LiamCroft? Anything comparable to the Mad Chainsaw Mode in the demo?

This pleases me greatly. I was concerned that content would be cut for this remake, particularly after Resident Evil 3, but it sounds like Capcom is looking to update as much of the original as possible.

@kingbreww The game is set to 60fps performance mode by default. You can switch this to resolution mode, but the frame rate will take the hit.

Have they actually stated what improvements will be made yet?

I'm expecting the normal bump in resolution and frame rate, but wasn't sure if there was anything else.

@get2sammyb Very true, and they have a couple more lined up for PS5 after all.

I get it to a certain extent; the idea of a franchise like DOOM not appearing on PlayStation is a bitter pill to swallow. I'd love to be proven wrong, because at the end of the day I'd like everyone to experience these games, but the reality is that these franchises are far more likely to stay within the Xbox ecosystem going forward.

I dont know why some folks are so adamant that these games will still be multiplatform..? You wouldn't expect Insomniac or Naughty Dog games to be on Xbox. Similarly, you wouldn't expect to find Rare's games on PlayStation. What makes Bethesda so different now? When this deal is finalised, they'll be a part of Xbox Game Studios.

Microsoft has a the opportunity to make a massive impact this year with Series X. A new Xbox console with a Halo launch game..? Yes please!
