@Rich33 While the combat is its own thing, I think The Dark Ages more closely resembles DOOM 2016 than DOOM Eternal. It certainly feels like your own adventure, with plenty of breathing room in between the combat arenas — especially if you're searching for collectibles.
In regards to weapons, I have my favourites in The Dark Ages, and I always had access to them with plenty of ammo. I never felt forced to use a specific gun to take down a certain enemy. Some shields that enemies carry are easier to destroy with certain weapons, but that's about as far as it goes — and those enemies with shields are basically just fodder demons anyway.
@gameloop I could count the times I've played a game with a mouse and keyboard on one hand, so I'm afraid I'm not the best person to ask.
I'll say that I never felt like I was hindered by using a controller; I moved, jumped, and shot demons exactly as I wanted to with the PS5 pad. I think you'll have a fantastic time playing with a controller.
@PlatinumMikey I'm hoping there won't be anything riding on the game, where we beat Hull this weekend and Luton lose to Coventry. I wouldn't say no to an extra three points from yourselves, though
@GMaster7 In terms of the Prologue collectible, that version of it is missable. However, you can collect a duplicate of it later on that still counts towards the Trophy.
I can't say with absolute certainty in regards to the quest collectible, I'm not sure what that's referring to. The relationship collectibles are unmissable — you can keep increasing Relationship Levels after the main story.
@PerpetualBoredom All these guides are 100% my work. The developer hasn't shared any info with me or had any input. It's just a lot of hard work from me to get them ready for the release!
@IOI We don’t treat any game differently just because it’s from a certain publisher. This is Stephen’s opinion on the game; there are no biases for or against here.
@Midgar777 I think the story and game overall are both paced excellently. You're never far away from the next big story cutscene, and there's enough side content to give you something else to focus on.
@MichaelNau
1. Yes, you can continue playing after the story and collect things.
2. There are no missable Trophies.
3. I sometimes got a bit turned around when coming out of a battle, but other than that, I didn't really wish there was a mini-map or anything.
Hey everyone, I've now played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for just shy of 70 hours! If you have any questions beyond what the review covers, feel free to copy me in.
@Rich33 Agreed, you'd figure they'd share more details than just general confirmation of PS5 Pro support. If that information doesn't come out publicly, we'll have it as part of our review coverage!
@heavyartillery56 It’s almost as if the game was released on more than just Steam. In fact, it was released on three platforms and the article states it’s done very well on PS5!
@Fiendish-Beaver The story is a direct continuation of the first game, so while you may be able to somewhat follow the events of the sequel, the chances are a lot of things will be lost on you. Obviously, I haven't played DS2 yet so I can't say for certain, but I would recommend at the very least watching a YouTube recap of the first game's plot.
@sanderson72 @GravyThief I'm afraid we don't do PS4 version reviews anymore. I only have a PS5 Pro to work with so you might be better off looking at other PS5-specific reviews to learn of base PS5 performance.
@Czar_Khastik I get that your whole shtick is to be sarcastic, but it's pretty insulting to joke around people being AI and using AI when this is all our full-time jobs.
@IOI @Americansamurai1 I think people really need to realise that fans care considerably more about anniversaries than companies do. You shouldn't really be going into these kinds of things expecting entire game projects; stuff like this is about the best it gets. When was the last time a company really, properly celebrated an anniversary the way fans hoped it would?
@Westernwolf4 The game refers back to events that take place in the ending of Infinite Wealth and it assumes you have knowledge of them. The story of Pirate Yakuza is mostly standalone, but it does have a canon place in the timeline that it uses to build upon previous events.
@mariomaster96 You'll be fine to play this straight away. Besides the links to the story of Infinite Wealth, the game is probably the most standalone experience in the whole mainline series.
@arra1213 You lose access to PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium games when they're removed from the service no matter whether you've downloaded/redeemed them or not.
@Nepp67 They're correct for the UK timezone, which is where we're from. The table lists most major timezones and gives your own personal one at the bottom.
@Dalamar Mini Reviews allow us to cover a wider range of games than just the main releases. We simply wouldn't have the time to cover all the games we do if everything was a full-length review. We're a small team working to the best of our capabilities.
@rjejr It's the chest next to any of Brock and Sindri's shop you find. They all share the same loot you've missed so it won't matter which one you go to.
@themightyant Sony doesn't count games like MLB The Show and Gran Turismo 7 when it discusses live service. I don't know why, because they absolutely are Games as a Service, but for some reason Sony just doesn't.

@Jacko11 Yes, the PS5 version is included in the PS Plus Extra drop next week.
Re: 10 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for May 2025 Announced
I wish that was a typo from me, but nope, there really is just 1 PS Plus Premium game for the month.
Re: DOOM: The Dark Ages (PS5) - Medieval Mashup Slows Down for FPS Excellence
@R-Soub
1. DOOM Eternal
2. DOOM: The Dark Ages
3. DOOM 2016
I absolutely loved Eternal, one of my favourite shooters on PS4.

I absolutely love football and everything surrounding it, but this one just didn't work for me, unfortunately. Maybe you'll like it more!

@Anke Thank you mate, your support is appreciated!
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (PS5) - Daring, Quirky RPG Is an Absolute Must-Play
@Marquez Thank you for your support, and enjoy!
@Matroska That is correct, there aren't many towns. However, I don't think they'd really make much sense in this situation anyway.
You're going to a place where everyone before you has failed and been killed. There aren't any humans there to set up civilization in the first place.
Re: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (PS5) - Daring, Quirky RPG Is an Absolute Must-Play
@Dalamar Yes it is.
@Porhawj You only get a map in the main overworld. In the actual locations, there's no map. There are three difficulty modes to choose from.
@Matroska I can't say I really agree it's linear and boring. It's definitely more open than Final Fantasy XIII.
