Re: Poll: Did You Buy Saints Row?

Lavalera

@BritneyfR_ee OK good to hear. It's so weird to read user impressions here saying it's not that bad while every reviewer said it's a big mess. Was there like a huge day 1 patch or something that you know of that they might not have?

Re: Poll: Did You Buy Saints Row?

Lavalera

I love the over the top action in sr3 and 4 and was hoping this was as ott and as much fun as those 2, but seeing in almost all reviews that it's a technical mess makes me skip it until a deep sale or game pass / ps plus

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 440

Lavalera

On Ps5 I'll continue with God of War. Working towards the plat. Have to collect all stuff and do the valkyries still. Hope to finish it this weekend.

On my Xbox I just started ff13 and am still taking baby steps into Elden Ring as a samurai. Just roaming around and exploring a bit here and there.

Re: Video: Top 10 PS5 Platinums for Beginners

Lavalera

I consider myself a more casual trophy collector. I don't go for a platinum in every game. I refuse to do the cheap ass click trophies, the ps4/5 double dipping and I don't do platinum when the game is to grindy, had multiplayer trophies or a difficulty modifier trophy then I'm out.
It's just like @Ralizah described, it keeps me engaged after I finish the story and it feels like I get rewarded for doing everything there is to do in a game while also enjoying it.

Re: Final Fantasy 14's Next Major Patch, Buried Memory, Launches on 23rd August

Lavalera

This looks so amazing. I can't wait to decorate my own island. The biggest success for FFXIV lies in the fact that they are actually listening to fan feedback, communicate with their fans and value your time by not forcing you to login daily to keep up to date like some other MMORPGS do. That combined with a brilliant story keep me logging in regurarly, granted as a side game since my focus is more on sp game nowadays, but it is enough to keep me subscribed.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 439

Lavalera

On my ps5 I'm playing God of War. Finished the story, which was great but didn't expect it to be that short. Now working on the end game trophy hunting stuff. Amazing game.

On my Xbox im still working on Solasta crown of the magister which is my first real attempt at an isometric crpg. It's a bit getting used since I never really played d&d or those type of games but it's enjoyable. Also going to do some more baby steps into Elden Ring. Which also normally isn't my type of game, but just had to try. Slowly working on it a few hours a week that's all my stress level can take, especially with the heatwave now, since the world is so intimidating especially if challenging isn't your cup of tea normally. Trying an attempt as a samurai which is a nice mix between melee and bow and arror and see how far I can go with this and if I have to switch to magic.

Re: Sword and Fairy: Together Forever (PS5) - Elegant, Charming Action RPG Has Obvious Flaws

Lavalera

This game looks pretty interesting. Already saw a lot of reviews and some gameplay footage. It looks absolutely stunning. I don't really care about grammar errors (since im not a native English speaker myself anyways) and i like a game with many cinematics. Especially since the game isn't full priced (40 euros) i think ill get it soon when i got room again in my gaming order.

Re: Find Final Fantasy 14 Intimidating? Get Onboard with This Six-Part Starter Guide Series

Lavalera

This game isn't that hard to get into imo if you are used to mmorpg or rpg in general. The game itself explains a lot and the questing and leveling proces is pretty straightforward. The side things like the grand company and such i can understand people could use a guide for that.
The good thing also about FF XiV is that it is also getting more and more single player friendly. Many of the dungeons can be run with AI party members now, especially neat when playing a non tank or healer character where dungeons queues are longer. The AI is pretty good for those dungeons as well.
The story and the quests of the original game aren't that great yet, even though they already cut out a lot of filler stuff, the story really starts to pick up with 3.0 and further. With the latest 2 expansions to be by far the best story wise.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 438

Lavalera

@Royalblues it's around 3 hours and if you play the game pass version it is even included (which normally never happens with dlc lol). I'm not even the biggest shooter fan, but the Coalition is such a great studio. From what I've heard they are working on another game before gears 6 so curious to see what they are up to now.

The open world without icons and quest markers makes me feel like a headless chicken haha. I'm so used to the map full of icons that when I look at Elden ring videos I'm like, so ok how do you even know where to go lol. But that's a different mind set since it's more chose your own adventure. The slower approach is also what I'm going to try and do. Good luck and have fun with the playthrough, hope you enjoy it more on your 2nd try

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 438

Lavalera

@Relygon yeah the open world is what draws into it and makes me a lot more confident that I'm able to do it. I just have to use a different mindset, I just have to go out there and try stuff instead of being "scared" I will die all the time.
I've been reading into beginners builds and from what I've read magic is more for soul veterans which I ain't at all, besides Sekiro I never played a from soft game. From what I've seen Samurai or Vagabond were supposed to be easy beginner classes since the equipment or stats you start with. I know I can always switch to magic later on but I think it will be trial and error which class will suit me best.

Good luck when you're going to play Sekiro I see the good game in it, it just can be tough if you're bad as timing stuff haha

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 438

Lavalera

@Royalblues I absolutely loved gears 5 and the hive busters dlc. It was the first gears I played. It is still one of the best looking games out there and the gameplay is pretty awesome.

I'm also up for Elden Ring next. Tried Sekiro and failed miserably at that, but I heard Elden Ring is supposed to be a lot easier since you're not limited to parry like in Sekiro. I'm usually terrible in those type of games and get easily frustrated but I wanna see what all the hype is about. So will go about it slowly and over level a lot probably haha, but yeah I'm curious to see if I can get the same feeling as others get with it, seeing im not a fan of challenging games normally. But as you say the only way to figure out is to try

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 438

Lavalera

On my ps5 I'm finishing up the last trophies for Nights of Azure. Pretty decent action jrpg that's on Ps ++. Nothing spectacular but enjoyable enough. Once I'm done with that it's time for my first playthrough of God of war.

On my Xbox im playing Solasta crown of the magister. Not really used to playing isometric rpgs so it isn't really easy but it's doable once I look stuff up and this way I cna try games I normally wouldn't

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Your PS Plus Essential Games for August 2022?

Lavalera

Very happy with the selection. Tony Hawk will be a lovely side game and yakuza like a dragon I didn't own on my ps5 yet. I also wanted to replay that before yakuza 8 comes so it's good to also have it on Ps5 so I can chose where to play. Little nightmares I haven't played yet so it's welcome. The first month in ages where I probably will play all 3

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 437

Lavalera

On my ps5 I'm still working my way through Nights of Azure. Pretty decent action rpg that's on ps++. Nearing the end now I think.

On my Xbox I just started Binary Domain. A shooter made by RGG (yakuza games), it's the last rgg game available on modern consoles I have yet to play. It's nothing like their other games, more like a gear of war type cover shooter. I'm not the biggest shooter fan but this one isn't that bad at all.

Re: Soapbox: I'm Sorry, But Your Cute Cat Game Isn't That Great

Lavalera

I totally agree with you Liam. At first I thought I was one of the only ones that thinks it was just okish, but glad to see you think so as well. For me personally the other thing that irritated me was only being able to jump on fixed positions which didn't give me the sense of freedom I thought I would have in this game. The idea of playing as a cat is original and the visuals are good as well. But the puzzles aren't really puzzles, to easy, and the fixed jumping made it to just an okish game for me. It's not a bad game but didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped I would so also not going to platinum it

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 436

Lavalera

On my ps5 i will finish up Stray, not as good as I hoped or expected. Being only able to jump on fixed positions is a big let down for me, removes the sense of freedom. After I finish it I'll go back to Nights of Azure.

On my Xbox I just finished As dusk falls, which was a brilliant narrative choice game. Going back to playing ac Origins now.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Stray?

Lavalera

For me personally it's a 7 out of 10. The art style is good and the idea is original but the gameplay is pretty basic and the puzzles can't be really named puzzles. Being limited to only jump on predetermined places is the biggest issue for me. Not that it's a bad game, it just isn't that super great for me. Without plus I wouldn't have bought or tried it to be fair. But that's the big plus of these subscriptions I can now try games which I wouldn't have otherwise

Re: Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana's PS5 Port Releases in November

Lavalera

@Voltan The Ys games aren't connected, You can play all seperately. ys 8 and 9 are on ps plus extra at the moment, so if you have that you can give those games a go.

@NEStalgia i totally agee with you, this doesn't look like a well enough improvement to warrant a seperate release. I absolutely love Ys 8 and has this on my radar if it truly was an upgrade, but it looks so dissapointing.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 435

Lavalera

On Ps5 I'm trying to get the last trophy for Doki Doki literature club plus. When I'm done with that I'll play a jrpg, doubting between nights of azure and ys 9.

In my Xbox im playing ac Origins. My 2nd try on playing, the first time I couldnt get into it. Let's hope the 60 fps patch works for me

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 434

Lavalera

@KilloWertz Yeah love the idea of the game. Had my eye on it for a while but never got around to play it. Seeing it on Ps plus and being in the mood to play some more relaxing games I decided to give it a go. Almost done with it now, after I finish I will get the plat since it's easy and then chose either to go back to infamous or play something else relaxing.

AC origins is next in line for me on Xbox after I finish dq11. Started it months ago but couldn't finish it. Played it right after valhalla and odyssey which I prolly shouldn't have. So I'm hoping I like it better after a few months ac break and in 60 fps mode

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 434

Lavalera

Currently playing Lost words beyond the page and infamous second son on my Ps5. Lost words is a pretty awesome indie game. Very good and gripping narrative. The gameplay while being pretty original and fun is pretty simple. But that's fine since the story is so recognizable and emotional. Infamous is a pretty decent action game, nothing spectacular but enjoyable enough to try and plat it.

On my Xbox im still going through dq11. I'm enjoying that one very much. Everything about the game is just relaxing, the music art style and even though the story has its dark sides too still it feels very relaxing. Nearing the end of the main story now. After that I don't know if I'm going to do the post game stuff usually not into that.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433

Lavalera

I finished Spiderman with the dlcs. Was a great game, but imo to many stealth missions and didn't really enjoy the challenges a bit to frustrating for me. Now I'm debating to start Ys 9 or Infamous second son next, I probably will go with Infamous since I'm still playing Dq11 on my Xbox, what a fantastic jrpg that is. So funny in the past I didn't really love jrpgs and turn based games but nowadays those are my favorite games. Oh how tatse can change when you get older lol

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 432

Lavalera

Finished the story of Fist of the North star. But as usual with RGG games Im doing some post game content, side stories mini games and getting a few trophies. Not going for the plat since it has a difficulty one and I skip those., but I'm not done with the game yet, still a lot of fun. Since this will be more of a side game now I'm going to start Spiderman which I have yet to play.

On my Xbox im playing Dq 11, what an absolutely brilliant game. The art style, combat, music and gameplay are all so wonderfully done. And somehow it is very relaxing to play since it feels pretty light hearted. I can totally see why it gets so much praise

Re: Reaction: PS Plus' PS5, PS4 Restart Is Welcome and Smart

Lavalera

For me personally it's a great deal. There are a few games on the service where I would never pay full price for since they aren't my cup of tea or I find to expensive for their length. Miles Morales, Returnal, Demons Souls and Deaths stranding to name a few titles. This way I can try those games which I prolly never would have tried otherwise. That combined with games I had on my wish list made me add a total of 45 games to my library and then I haven't even counted the streaming games yet. Since I only really started console gaming this generation that one also has a lot of goodies for me. So subscribing to premium wasn't even a hard choice.

And it's not like I won't buy games anymore if I'm subscribed. Been subscribed to gamepass as well and the games I really love i will still buy including dlcs.
So yeah great service for me personally

Re: PS Store Mid-Year Deals Sale Includes 600+ PS5, PS4 Game Discounts

Lavalera

I'll hold off until the full list of the ps plus launch in Europe is known. There are a few games on my wishlist for sale i might get. But i'll wait until tomorrow

@themightyant that's actually a good rule you have. I also need to switch something, since my backlog is ever growing especially with the ps plus launching tomorrow, i'll have 2 subsciption services plus all the ton of games i have bought but not played yet. It might get out of hand with the backlog otherwise lol. Think i need to do something like that as well.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 431

Lavalera

@R1spam yeah I already own it I just have to get it into my schedule somewhere. And when I'm going to play it I want to read some class and build guides or try some stuff out to see what is my thing. But yeah the open world and reading it is more accessible because of it made me buy it

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 431

Lavalera

@GorosBat Don't think I'm going for the plat no. From what I've seen it takes a playthrough on extra hard difficulty and I usually skip platinums where there is a difficulty trophy attached. I usually keep playing them until the story is far over and the fun is gone with playing that game.

The mini games are done in a fun way. The clinic games is something different than the karaoke or dance rhythm games, it feels like a nice different game this way. The bartender game is fun but it feels like a workout if you're chopping the ice or stirring the drink, but still it's pretty fun.

With the gore you mentioned I sometimes feel more like I'm playing a Mortal Kombat game than a RGG game.

Overall I think it is around the middle of my list of rgg games, but I'm still only on chapter 8 so still have a part of the story to go and see how fast I'm bored with side content

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 431

Lavalera

Still playing Fist of the North Star on my ps5. From the makers of Yakuza, but then in a mad max kind of world. But it feels, looks and plays like a Yakuza game, with all weirdness side content and serious story included. Sure ita not their best game but it's still highly entertaining

On my Xbox i started Dq 11 after finishing up the og final fantasy 7 last week. Only a few hours in so can't say much about it yet, but it's supposed to be a classic so I think I'll enjoy it.

Have a nice weekend all
