@Pat_trick The whole point of public beta versions is to gather data and feedback, and to test servers etc. So I'd imagine they will focus on things that people found problematic, like the lack of hitstop.
@AhmadSumadi I think resource talk is completely fair. Sure, this remaster didn't take resources from Guerrilla Games, but Nixxes certainly could've worked on games that would be far more interesting to remaster. And yes, they work on multiple projects at once (some for Playstation, most for PC) but that doesn't change the fact that there are dozens and dozens of cool PS3 and PS4 games that are either not playable on current gen consoles or are not available on PC.
@Americansamurai1 If they are going to launch PS Plus on PC and require a subscription to play their games online, that will not go well. Having to pay for PS Plus on console is bad enough for a feature that should be free (and was free just a couple of generations ago).
I think it does look much nicer in general, but they really dropped the ball on character lighting in the cutscenes. Well, assuming that the trailer from a month ago showed more or less final lighting. But in those scenes the original looked much nicer in my opinion.
@PuppetMaster Either way, Sony has to be paying them something if the games are a part of Premium. And if these games are not sold separately at all, it has to be more than they figured the game would sell separately.
@PuppetMaster I think some Ridge Racer and Tekken games were initially locked behind Premium, but they later started selling them individually. No idea if the Premium requirement was Sony's or Namco's idea, though.
I couldn't care less about trophies, but just let me buy my games. I don't subscribe to PS Plus since I don't play many online games, and locking games behind a subscription won't change that.
@anon_pel222 I agree, but when modern games are increasingly complicated with hundreds of characters and systems... Having a floating horse is honestly a win, it could be so much worse. 😅
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Fair enough, but surely you can understand why people are disappointed in Sony for this when the easier solution would've been to just skip the PSN requirement? Everyone would've been happy, both console gamers and PC gamers.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner Even if some companies already have gathered data from you, it doesn't mean that you want to give it to everyone else. Some accounts are just a necessary evil as it's hard to live without an email account etc.
It also doesn't matter how easy and quick they make the account creation process. The problem isn't that you need to spend three minutes to create an account. The problem is that the account is completely unnecessary especially in single player games.
@PsBoxSwitchOwner To be fair, the bitrate on Youtube is so low that the difference in image quality was not particularly noticeable. Especially since they didn't even zoom all the way, but instead opted for relatively small images.
The difference in fluidity between 30fps and 60fps was very obvious, though.
Considering that Sony has seemingly forgotten that PS VR2 exists and gave up on it faster than they did with Vita... wireless version is definitely not happening.
@Max_the_German FSR3 frame generation is only slightly better than the motion smoothing on televisions. Adds latency and has some obvious visual artefacts. In my opinion it should never be used to reach 60fps.
But yes, most people will not notice. They may feel like something is a bit off, and may notice some ghosting, but that's about it.
@CielloArc As Rich Leadbetter explained in this article, it's mostly about CPU. Lowering resolution doesn't have a big effect on CPU. Similarly PSSR will mostly help when GPU is the bottleneck. While more powerful GPU and PSSR will improve the graphics and image quality, they will not necessarily help with framerate.
But this is all speculation at this point. We have no idea how demanding the game is, and how much physics and other simulation stuff it has.
@ButterySmooth30FPS The fear is that Sony will keep this up during next generation as well. If there is no one to compete with them, they will ask for the largest sum that they can get away with. It has happened before.
It's a lot of money, especially considering that the current generation may only last around four years more. PS5 launched in 2020, so it's already almost four years old. Can't see it going much further than 2027-2028.
Step 1: sell your kidneys Step 2: sell your house Step 3: take a loan Step 4: start a savings account Step 5: pre-order a PS5 Pro Step 6: you forgot the disc drive... Step 7: time to sell all of your other property as well
Just checked and the disc drives are around 130€ here. Yeah, not spending over 900€ on a console, and I'm not giving up my physical PS5 games either.
I'll just vote with my wallet and not get this console. They made a bad call with that pricing, it's absolutely ridiculous.
@rjejr I have no idea what kind of person Chris Deering is, so I certainly have no reason to defend him. Instead I'm criticising the headline and writing of this article for turning a positive quote into something with the intention of enraging people. Gotta get the clicks somehow, huh?
What he essentially said is that if you get unemployed, do not give up. Maybe take a short break and try something different, but keep updated on your own field and keep on trying again. Eventually you will get back into what you love doing. Can't get much more encouraging and constructive than that.
Also, why did you feel it necessary to attack people with the weird assumption that people who are pointing this out "probably have a lot more issues than just defending this"? That's super harsh and offensive.
@get2sammyb I think the message is clearly positive, and while the examples he gave (driving uber or going to beach) aren't particularly good, I don't think most people would find this quote negative unless someone makes it sound negative.
This article is extremely misleading. If you read the quote and pay attention, you will not end up with the narrative that Pushsquare is promoting here.
@Damage99 Series S could definitely run it if they took the time to optimize it well. The game has very high quality assets, but I think the game would look just fine even with downscaled textures and simplified geometry.
While I don't personally have one, I think Series S makes a lot of sense. An affordable system for GamePass is a tempting offer, and I think that's why Series S has sold far more than Series X.
I think that's just bad filesize optimization. Don't get me wrong, the game looks beautiful and clearly has high quality assets. But I don't think it's worth over 100GB.
It's a tale as old as time itself... Or rather, as old as Unreal Engine is. Smaller teams get access to high-end tools, but the budget stays small. End result is visually nice looking games that often lack in animation and polish in gameplay.
I've been busy playing on my Steam Deck and Switch lately, but I don't blame lack of games on PS5. There's still plenty of games that I'd like to buy for PS5.
@Cutmastavictory Yes, but the user interface is likely going to be very different in the PS5 version. A good or bad UI can really make it or break it when it comes to these building games.
Disagreed. Silent protagonists leave room for the player's imagination. As long as there is emotion in the animations (especially on face), silent protagonists work really well. Also avoids the problem of having annoying voice acting. I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 and I wish that game had silent protagonist because I dislike the voice acting of the main character.
I'm pretty confident that MH Wilds is going to be released on Switch 2. Perhaps even a launch game or launch window game. The series has been very popular on handheld platforms, so it makes a lot of sense.
Lots of TMNT games coming out. Not sure about this one, but I'm interested in the Splintered Fate. That said, it's hard to beat Shredder's Revenge which is one of the best beat 'em ups I've ever played.
