In an exhaustive interview with Gamasutra, PlayStation 4 system architect Mark Cerny has hinted that the next generation console will have a launch offering that’s stronger than any of Sony’s previous consoles. The legendary developer put that down to the ease of development, which will result in more quality titles being available from the off.
“The launch lineup for the PS4 – though I unfortunately can’t give the title count – is going to be stronger than any prior PlayStation hardware,” he told the website. “And that's a result of that familiarity.”
At this stage, we know that DriveClub, Killzone: Shadow Fall, and Watch_Dogs are targeting the platform’s launch later this year. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag also looks likely, and there’s been plenty of speculation surrounding inFAMOUS: Second Son, too. It’ll need a lot more content if it wants to compete with the PlayStation Vita’s epic launch list, but we're sure that E3 will bring more information.
What titles are you hoping to purchase alongside the next generation console? Let us know in the comments section below.

I don't fully remember PSOne's launch day lineup but PS2's was bad and the one for PS3 was abysmal so it shouldn't be that hard to top the latter two.
So Knack isn't a launch title? Don't know if I'ld buy a system for Knack but I really wanted it.
WiiU had a ton of games at launch but it didn't help sales any as they weren't games people wanted - NintendoLand and another 2D Mario game - or they were late ports - Batman.
I'm sure PS4 will have better exclusives but if most of the games are on PS3 people may just buy those versions. $ may be a bigger factor than games.
@rjejr It could be a launch title, but I don't think that's explicitly been mentioned as one yet. To be honest, I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
It's definitely looking to be the case, even if we'll see a lot of these games on PS3 as well.
@rjejr
Money will certainly factor in. Watch_Dogs on PS4 may be the definitive version but if the other versions are still competent, people will likely just spring for the version on a system they already own.
@rjejr Knack and killzone were the only games which we saw actual game footage of apart from the other third party games. Plus knack was the only one which was shown playing via remote play on the vita so it will definitely be a launch title. I think they did not mention it simple because for many people it was not as impressive as all the other games which we are used to.
I am looking forward to see a final fantasy game launching with the PS4 that would be the most amazing launch line up for me though I doubt that will happen since they are releasing lightning returns this year.... maybe we'll get versus sometime later the following year
@meldarion It would be huge if there was a Final Fantasy at launch, but I can't see it.
Honestly, I hope Sony spreads things out a bit. Drop four or five big titles on launch day, and then make sure there's something to look forward every few weeks. I think that's the best way to do it.
There's no doubt the PS4 is going to have a strong launch, but I think they still need that one jaw dropping game on top of all the others to make it a must have. While it's still too early to judge, I do believe that one video game can make all the difference.
I'm hoping to snag. .. Infamous Second Son, KillzoneSShadow Fall, Drive Club, Destiny, and possibly watchdogs & Knack on day 1!!! XD If I recall I think they said all the games mentioned in the PS conference wereball supposed to be available at the PS4 launch! Not to sure about final fantasy.but I'm sure that would only help boost ps4 sales if the were to make it available at launch!
Infamous Second Son , FF Versus 13/ FF15 and The last Guardian.
@3Above Infamous all the way dude! !!!
well if versus and last guardian is there i will be in day 1
I know it's highly unlikely but if Fallout 4 is somehow a launch title I'd be the first standing in line. Its been too long since they came out with a new one
@meldarion The inFamous Second Son trailer had gameplay. https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2013/02/infamous_second_son_trailer_featured_gameplay_footage
Launch titles are important but equally so are the titles releasing progressively though the first year. Many systems push a lot of titles to launch and then have nothing new for 6 months which also hurts them,
meh, ive had so much bad taste from the wii u's lineup that im doubting the ps4. but thats where i went wrong, cause sony has proved to me with the ps3, with a little time they can give us what we want.
But heres the deal, the ps3 still has another 5 years left in it, sony could have milked the ps3 even more, with the weekly sales, content everyweek, trailers, demos, and psn titles. All this stuff is just now hitting its stride. Everyweek seems to have a must buy psn title, not to mention the loads of Retail games on top of all that.
but regardless, im buying the ps4 at launch, with good faith that sony keeps the first year interesting...hope to see some of you guys on here online
@odd69 I'll definitely be online. After hearing about all of the amazing features it'll have, I'll probably never log off.
@Jaz007 Although that was running on the ps4 there was no one actually playing the game with the controller in their hands that what I meant by gameplay. I know everything they showed was running in real time but actual gameplay with a person on stage playing the game was only shown for knack, killzone and watchdog although watchdogs
