Re: Bungie Delays Marathon Indefinitely, No New PS5, PC Release Date Given

GalacticBreakdown

@Treestar Yeah I didn't see whatever picture you posted but yeah Destiny 2 is not in the top charts unless you go down to like 50. If whales are still paying money to Bungie they are insane. I'm a former Destiny 2 player saying this but there's a reason the player count has been cut in half each year since 2022. So any value Destiny 2 still has with it's 20k player base who all dislike the game, idk how much longer they'll have it. If it's in the top 10 at the end of the year on Steam, i think that's cap. They were averaging 75-60k a year ago inbetween expansions & now they're down to 1/3 of that player base

Re: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League (PS5) - Rocksteady's Big Gamble Just About Pays Off

GalacticBreakdown

@XboxistheBestBox what do you mean the weakest villain? All the games have multiple villains Including Knight, but I'd say Knight is no weaker than say Hugo Strange.

And I really don't care about your score, it's kinda silly. You say "weakest" like the things you're saying are truly weak, they're only weak because they were preceded by two of the greatest games ever created. Next to other games, it's a fricking masterpiece especially for 2014, it 100% holds up to modern standards.

Also the batmobile puzzles are like, 1% of the game. You didn't like a few puzzles but I disagree with your sentiments. I don't think you played Arkham Origins either because it seems you don't count that one. That game is good too.

But if you're saying Arkham Knight is on the same level as Suicide Squad, I think most people, not just myself would disagree.

Re: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League (PS5) - Rocksteady's Big Gamble Just About Pays Off

GalacticBreakdown

@Ridley I mean if you wanna just ignore what I said & ignore the genuine sentiment rather than just complain about people scoring games without playing them, which is kinda asinine. If you criticize them, you just encourage them. But it's hard to ask people to withhold judgment because they're not willing to pay $70 to play game they already have preconceived notions about. I'd advise you to just ignore troll scores but if you'd prefer to focus on troll comments rather than genuine critics of the game, that's your prerogative.

Re: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League (PS5) - Rocksteady's Big Gamble Just About Pays Off

Also people complaining about people hating on this game, can you really blame them? I am a comic book collector & was so hyped for this but it's just not the kinda game I want from a comic book game. It seems like it has a decent story but it's not story driven really. The missions are just like "go here, shoot this, repeat" or that's the impression I get. Like I love a lot about this game inherently just because I love those characters & their stories in various other mediums but this is a multiplayer horde shooter with light story elements. I'm not hating on those types of games, they can be fun, but it's hard for me & most people it seems to look at this game, this developer, these characters, hell even the awesome story concept & not say "man this could've been incredible." It doesn't mean it's necessarily a bad game it just means a lot of people feel like it could've been a much better game if WB hadn't pushed it so far in one direction. They fumbled it like they've fumbled most of these properties in their recent film continuity. (Outside of The Batman & Joker & James Gunn's stuff.) DC & WB has suffered a lot in recent years in almost all mediums from chasing trends & looking at what other companies have success with & saying "hey do what they did." Hopefully it's blown up in their faces enough now to reverse course like they have with their film productions.

Re: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League (PS5) - Rocksteady's Big Gamble Just About Pays Off

GalacticBreakdown

@XboxistheBestBox bro what? Arkham Knight is a great game! If you're trying to act like this game is on the same level as Arkham Knight, I'd say you're misguided. Arkham Knight may be a point or two below the first two but those games were 10/10 all timers. I also think as time has passed, people appreciate Knight much more in hindsight rather when it came out for whatever reason. But I replayed it on PC about a year ago & loved it, things like the Man Bat jump scare are moments that a lot of modern open world games can't even pull off.

Re: Rumour: PS Plus Essential PS5, PS4 Games for January 2023 Leaked Early

GalacticBreakdown

This month is a W for me just because of Axiom Verge 2. I loved the first game on my Switch but haven't played the 2nd since it released. I'd rather have it on Switch but I'll gladly take it for free. I already own Fallen Order which is really great & I won't mind Fallout 76, maybe I'll actually try it out someday. Kinda lame it's only PS4 though, if they upgraded it for PS5 I'd be more inclined to give it a shot. It reminds me I'm looking forward to the Fallout 4 Next-Gen update that's supposedly coming soon. Fallen Order is the best Star Wars game since KOTOR & on the same level imo. The combat is unbelievably fun & the exploration is a fun time. Anybody who hasn't played it & is interested in Star Wars or likes Souls games will enjoy it. Good month. But I'm a person who doesn't fault Plus for giving away games I already own, I try to be sensible about it.

Re: Game of the Year: #9 - The Last of Us: Part I

GalacticBreakdown

It's a wonderful, well-made game.....it's a legitimate masterpiece. But it's an old game. Nothing about the actual gameplay or it's narrative are "new." I wouldn't mind this listed in "Best Graphics of the Year" but in the GOTY? Nah. It's the reason it wasn't nominated for any thing at the Game Awards & why it shouldn't be listed here.

Re: Official God of War Ragnarok PS5, PS4 Graphics Modes Revealed

GalacticBreakdown

Favour performance will likely be my mode. Especially because it's dynamic 4K. 1440P/4K really isn't that much of a difference unless you're sitting 6 inches from the screen. My TV is only 4K/60hz, my computer monitor is 144hz/1080p. So if I want unlocked, I can play on monitor. But with my TV, dynamic 4k/60 FPS all the way. I promise you'll have to be up close & looking at every detail to notice the difference between dynamic & native.

Re: Spotify's PS5 App Upgraded to Native New-Gen Version

GalacticBreakdown

I recently learned I could actually play my own music in the background on PS5 while I play multiplayer games like Fortnite, like I do on my PC when I play Valorant. I guess I just never knew that was a thing you could do on console...m🤷 So I have a reason to download this now!

Re: Despite Scrapping PS4, Gotham Knights Is Just 30fps on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

@Shakybeeves after patches maybe, go look at the digital foundry launch video about HFW to see why they recommended playing in the 30fps Quality mode at launch. Sony games, built for that specific hardware are always going to be better optimized than any third party multiplat game. You coulda made the same point but using Sony exclusive games as examples is kinda silly.

Re: Despite Scrapping PS4, Gotham Knights Is Just 30fps on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

The only visual effects that should be expensive enough to totally disqualify 60fps on current gen would be extensive baked in ray tracing effects. If it has those, which I kinda doubt it does, then I get it. I played Guardians of the Galaxy at 30fps because native 4K/Ray Traced Reflections was worth the trade off, the ray tracing effects transformed that game. Sometimes the trade off in Quality/Performance is worth it on console, sometimes it isn't.

Re: Rumour: Sonic Frontiers Will Make You Pick 60FPS or 4K Resolution on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

@RogerRoger it's not really unfair. Sonic Team isn't a small indie team or anything. There are plenty of similar games that run great on Switch & are pushed up on other platforms, from teams smaller than Sonic Team. Disco Elysium, Paradise Killer, and tons of indie games. I'm not bagging on Sonic Team here or having unrealistic expectations at all. But better1080/60 isn't unreasonable to expect from a team with the resources of Sonic Team & Sega.

I'm by no means dismissing their work, the game looks pretty good from my eyes, I'm just saying the work isn't nearly as complex as other games that are pushing boundaries.

Re: Rumour: Sonic Frontiers Will Make You Pick 60FPS or 4K Resolution on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

Also just to those talking about things being 4K, native 4k really isn't important or it shouldn't be. It's VERY difficult to tell the difference between native 4K & dynamic and pretty hard for a normal person's eyes to differentiate between 1440 upsampled to 4K. Unless you sit an inch away from the screen, resolution isn't that big of a deal after you're up to 1440p. But anyone can tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p/Dynamic 4K/native 4k on a large screen. If you have a TV 40 inches or bigger, anyone's eyesight can see that 1080p is noticably blurry compared to anything over 1440p.

Re: Rumour: Sonic Frontiers Will Make You Pick 60FPS or 4K Resolution on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

@RogerRoger it's not asking too much to optimize a game for multiple platforms. It's the basis of PC optimization and plenty of games do it. If you're going to put it out on multiple platforms, then optimize it for each of those. As long as this game has been in development, they've had the time to do it. Look at Diablo 3, Doom Eternal, Ori, and The Witcher 3 as examples of games that run great on Switch but the settings can be turned way up on other platforms. We'll see how another Sega game Persona 5 does, but I suspect it will run well on everything just like Catherine Full Body does. If you can literally only get 60/1080 outta current gen, your game needs work. It's just laziness. When game prices are what they are for current gen, asking for optimization isn't asking too much.

I'll put it this way, if games like Spider-Man can run at 1440/60 with Ray Traced Reflections turned on, you can get 1440/60 outta a Sonic game. It's not like it has crazy detailed textures to load in or complex lighting systems.

And looking back on past Sonic releases, they've had issues. The remaster of Sonic Colors that shipped last year, shipped with some serious issues. I can't recall exactly what they were but I'm pretty sure it was common things like frame rate on what was advertised as a remaster, which by definition is created to improve upon the those things.

Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake from Bloober Team Reportedly in Development

GalacticBreakdown

I swear, it's really annoying when supposed "fans" of a series, find any reason to complain about new games coming out. How long has it been since a Silent Hill game has come out? Then, we hear about a couple new games, finally, and fans can't help but complain because it's not exactly what they want it to be. Get over yourselves. Bloober is the most solid horror publisher out right now, no other dev has their pedigree and consistency. Not all of their games are bangers but to claim none of them are good is just ridiculous. You must only play Elden Ring & Breath of the Wild to talk like that about games that are well made & different. The Medium was a super interesting throwback to fixed camera horror with some really interesting experiments with dual screen environments. Observer was a really, really good detective game with a fantastic performance by Rutger Hauer. People who dismiss those games as not good, I'm pretty sure never actually played or purchased them. They're just regurgitating stuff they've read.

I'm excited Konami is doing something with this property instead of letting them sit dormant for even longer. Bloober Team can do a fine remake I'm sure.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (PS5) - The Best LEGO Game in Years, This Is

GalacticBreakdown

I pre-ordered this last week, I've got it preloaded on PS5. Haven't ever bought a Lego game & have only ever played a little of the first Lego Batman with my nephew in co-op when he was a wee boy. I wanted this just because it finally is a video game that allows you to play through the Star Wars movie saga. That alone sold me, plus it looked really fun. Looking forward to booting this up tomorrow!

Re: Weird West (PS4) - Ambitious Top-Down RPG Comes Close to Greatness

GalacticBreakdown

I was looking forward to this but now may wait for a sale. $40 just sounds like a bit too much to pay for it day one when I'm already going to pre-order Lego Skywalker Saga for next week tomorrow.

I'm wondering about the controls but the reviewer doesn't really mention them. I've heard this game isn't really made for a game pad & controls much better with mouse & keyboard. So wondering about that...
