Re: Spotify's PS5 App Upgraded to Native New-Gen Version

GalacticBreakdown

I recently learned I could actually play my own music in the background on PS5 while I play multiplayer games like Fortnite, like I do on my PC when I play Valorant. I guess I just never knew that was a thing you could do on console...m🤷 So I have a reason to download this now!

Re: Despite Scrapping PS4, Gotham Knights Is Just 30fps on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

@Shakybeeves after patches maybe, go look at the digital foundry launch video about HFW to see why they recommended playing in the 30fps Quality mode at launch. Sony games, built for that specific hardware are always going to be better optimized than any third party multiplat game. You coulda made the same point but using Sony exclusive games as examples is kinda silly.

Re: Despite Scrapping PS4, Gotham Knights Is Just 30fps on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

The only visual effects that should be expensive enough to totally disqualify 60fps on current gen would be extensive baked in ray tracing effects. If it has those, which I kinda doubt it does, then I get it. I played Guardians of the Galaxy at 30fps because native 4K/Ray Traced Reflections was worth the trade off, the ray tracing effects transformed that game. Sometimes the trade off in Quality/Performance is worth it on console, sometimes it isn't.

Re: Rumour: Sonic Frontiers Will Make You Pick 60FPS or 4K Resolution on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

@RogerRoger it's not really unfair. Sonic Team isn't a small indie team or anything. There are plenty of similar games that run great on Switch & are pushed up on other platforms, from teams smaller than Sonic Team. Disco Elysium, Paradise Killer, and tons of indie games. I'm not bagging on Sonic Team here or having unrealistic expectations at all. But better1080/60 isn't unreasonable to expect from a team with the resources of Sonic Team & Sega.

I'm by no means dismissing their work, the game looks pretty good from my eyes, I'm just saying the work isn't nearly as complex as other games that are pushing boundaries.

Re: Rumour: Sonic Frontiers Will Make You Pick 60FPS or 4K Resolution on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

Also just to those talking about things being 4K, native 4k really isn't important or it shouldn't be. It's VERY difficult to tell the difference between native 4K & dynamic and pretty hard for a normal person's eyes to differentiate between 1440 upsampled to 4K. Unless you sit an inch away from the screen, resolution isn't that big of a deal after you're up to 1440p. But anyone can tell the difference between 1080p and 1440p/Dynamic 4K/native 4k on a large screen. If you have a TV 40 inches or bigger, anyone's eyesight can see that 1080p is noticably blurry compared to anything over 1440p.

Re: Rumour: Sonic Frontiers Will Make You Pick 60FPS or 4K Resolution on PS5

GalacticBreakdown

@RogerRoger it's not asking too much to optimize a game for multiple platforms. It's the basis of PC optimization and plenty of games do it. If you're going to put it out on multiple platforms, then optimize it for each of those. As long as this game has been in development, they've had the time to do it. Look at Diablo 3, Doom Eternal, Ori, and The Witcher 3 as examples of games that run great on Switch but the settings can be turned way up on other platforms. We'll see how another Sega game Persona 5 does, but I suspect it will run well on everything just like Catherine Full Body does. If you can literally only get 60/1080 outta current gen, your game needs work. It's just laziness. When game prices are what they are for current gen, asking for optimization isn't asking too much.

I'll put it this way, if games like Spider-Man can run at 1440/60 with Ray Traced Reflections turned on, you can get 1440/60 outta a Sonic game. It's not like it has crazy detailed textures to load in or complex lighting systems.

And looking back on past Sonic releases, they've had issues. The remaster of Sonic Colors that shipped last year, shipped with some serious issues. I can't recall exactly what they were but I'm pretty sure it was common things like frame rate on what was advertised as a remaster, which by definition is created to improve upon the those things.

Re: Silent Hill 2 Remake from Bloober Team Reportedly in Development

GalacticBreakdown

I swear, it's really annoying when supposed "fans" of a series, find any reason to complain about new games coming out. How long has it been since a Silent Hill game has come out? Then, we hear about a couple new games, finally, and fans can't help but complain because it's not exactly what they want it to be. Get over yourselves. Bloober is the most solid horror publisher out right now, no other dev has their pedigree and consistency. Not all of their games are bangers but to claim none of them are good is just ridiculous. You must only play Elden Ring & Breath of the Wild to talk like that about games that are well made & different. The Medium was a super interesting throwback to fixed camera horror with some really interesting experiments with dual screen environments. Observer was a really, really good detective game with a fantastic performance by Rutger Hauer. People who dismiss those games as not good, I'm pretty sure never actually played or purchased them. They're just regurgitating stuff they've read.

I'm excited Konami is doing something with this property instead of letting them sit dormant for even longer. Bloober Team can do a fine remake I'm sure.

Re: LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (PS5) - The Best LEGO Game in Years, This Is

GalacticBreakdown

I pre-ordered this last week, I've got it preloaded on PS5. Haven't ever bought a Lego game & have only ever played a little of the first Lego Batman with my nephew in co-op when he was a wee boy. I wanted this just because it finally is a video game that allows you to play through the Star Wars movie saga. That alone sold me, plus it looked really fun. Looking forward to booting this up tomorrow!

Re: Weird West (PS4) - Ambitious Top-Down RPG Comes Close to Greatness

GalacticBreakdown

I was looking forward to this but now may wait for a sale. $40 just sounds like a bit too much to pay for it day one when I'm already going to pre-order Lego Skywalker Saga for next week tomorrow.

I'm wondering about the controls but the reviewer doesn't really mention them. I've heard this game isn't really made for a game pad & controls much better with mouse & keyboard. So wondering about that...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 418

GalacticBreakdown

I'm playing through Cyberpunk 2077, I just got the bike and now I'm loving it. I've no idea why but it's taking a while for me to get used to the driving when in first person. It's much easier in third but I'm trying to learn it in first as I don't like the viewpoint switch. I bought the Steelseries Arctis 7P+ headset and I literally played all night until 6am I was so immersed. Lol gotta watch that.

Besides that I want to play some WWE2K22, Nier Replicant I bought on sale, maybe finally try some Elden Ring, and Anno. Looking forward to Ghostwire Tokyo early access tomorrow after work!

Re: WWE 2K22 (PS5) - A Return to Form for 2K's Wrestling Franchise

GalacticBreakdown

@nomither6 by fake, I mean it's not a legitimate competitive contest. The outcomes are predetermined. The physicality & such is real and done in a trained/disciplined way so they don't injure each other too badly.

It is in the sense that in WWE, it's the highest paid league. There are other companies particularly in Japan but also elsewhere with more experienced, more disciplined, & higher level talent than in WWE but when it comes to getting paid the most for your work, WWE is the top earning company.

Re: WWE 2K22 (PS5) - A Return to Form for 2K's Wrestling Franchise

GalacticBreakdown

Professional wrestling is really an unappreciated artform, the skill & craft it takes to pull off the things they do every week, live in front of thousands in person & millions on TV, with little margin for error is impressive to me. A lot of people don't like it simply because they either don't get it or they got fooled into thinking it was real as children & now resent it. It's complete gaga fun. It's not serious, it's like if superheroes existed in real life. I enjoy it for what it is, which is some very talented & capable athletes doing ridiculously fun & athletic & daredevilish things to entertain me. I love it & have no shame in that. People are coming around to it nowadays when they open up to the idea of liking something that's so nerdy to admit you enjoy. It's really simply just fun if you let go of these notions of it being "fake." You don't ***** talk a movie or TV show for being fake, so I never understood the reasoning for holding it against professional wrestling.

I've been playing this for the past two days & it's absolutely bonkers fun. It's better than 2K19 easily, the best thing they did was introduce combos & trash the whole 3 reversal limit. It's so much more fun to play & feels more like a real match. Super fun multiplayer & GM mode is fun but has some weird flaws. The best wrestling games ever made are still WCW/NWO Revenge & No Mercy...AEW hired a bunch of people who worked on those for their game, so I'm super hopeful it's good. This game though is my favorite WWE game on modern platforms & will be a great local multiplayer game for my roommates & I. Highly recommended!

Re: Playing Elden Ring's PS4 Version on PS5 Might Be Your Best Bet for a Stable Framerate

GalacticBreakdown

@Kang81 I don't understand why you think it's getting a pass. Like I said when people love a game & connect with it, whatever issues it has become very miniscule in contrast. Issues become minor when the game does so many other things well. I don't know how else to express this, that when you love a game, a few issues just don't bother you much. You're aware of issues but they're very small compared to what you love about it. That's just what fans do. Fans of Nintendo & FromSoft love those games so much that things like a few performance issues are very minor & doesn't affect their enjoyment of those games. It's not "giving it pass" to not be overly bothered game's issues especially if they're minor.

Re: Playing Elden Ring's PS4 Version on PS5 Might Be Your Best Bet for a Stable Framerate

GalacticBreakdown

@Kang81 I'm confused why you even care about how games are perceived if you don't play them. Does it offend you or bother you that people love Elden Ring or FromSoft games? I genuinely don't understand why other people's opinions matter about this. You shouldn't let things like this bother you, just play the games you like, enjoy those games, and talk about why you like them. There's really no reason to argue against critical reception or player perception about games you don't play. Because in the end, it won't change people's opinions. When people really love or enjoy a game, they're willing to overlook some of it's shortcomings because all games have them. All of them. No game is perfect, someone, somewhere will always fault it for one reason or another. I promise you, all your favorite games, there's somebody out there who disagrees & has a list of it's shortcomings. But if we love a game, they tend to not bother us because it connects so much with us.

Re: Playing Elden Ring's PS4 Version on PS5 Might Be Your Best Bet for a Stable Framerate

GalacticBreakdown

@KundaliniRising333 I think you're really blowing it out of proportion. It's an overreaction to say you're a beta tester for this game, implying that it's unfinished or that FromSoftware did something wrong releasing it as is. I strongly disagree with your opinion of it being the same as Dark Souls 3, this game is beautiful visually & it's open world, which is much harder on systems to render as opposed to single linear levels like past games. This game is also cross-gen so unless you're playing it on PS4, you should notice how good it looks visually in contrast. I am confused by you even buying this game if you had these opinions already, as you said this game has beta tested & plenty of gameplay footage has been out, so you must've known the engine they were using & visual presentation before owning the game.

I'm confused as to why everyone cares so much about the praise being heaped onto this game by critics & players. I will say, you say all this isn't bothersome then you go on to list all of the above as problematic. I'm playing the game and none of what you listed is bothering me or hindering my gameplay experience at all. And it seems that's the same with almost everyone else playing it. I'm sorry all of the above bothers you, but to imply that people are giving this game a pass on things just because they think so highly of it, is kinda like saying "your opinion is wrong & this is why." If people and reviewers like a game, let them like it, no reason to argue against that unless the critical & player perception of the game really bothers you that much. Just enjoy it for what it is, which by my & many other's accounts is an amazing open world video game that's a true evolution of the FromSoftware style.

Re: PS Plus March 2022 PS5, PS4 Games Announced

GalacticBreakdown

I'm super hype for Ghostrunner. People are a little off though because this version of the game was never on PS Now. Only the PS4 version was, which I played through PS Now when I still had the service. I've wanted to try out the PS5 version for awhile now, have thought about buying it on sale, & I'm glad I don't have to now.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 (PS5) - Dark Future RPG Is Finally Ready to Rock

GalacticBreakdown

@JohnGrey Oh here we go with the dude who gets all hung over the number on the review rather than it's actual content. Comparing the numbers at the end of reviews rather than the content & context within them is surely more absurd than the PS review staff. The numbers are just there.... most reasonable patrons here recognize that some "8's" are better than others & likewise. All "8's" are not equal. So chill out & get a grip with how ridiculous you sound going on about "unironically listening Captain Beefheart" & whatever you're talking about.... all because a review of Cyberpunk 2077 was "ONE NUMBER LOWER THAN HORIZON!!! HUUUAAHHHH!!!!"

Re: God of War Ragnarok PS5, PS4 Still Pegged to Release This Year

GalacticBreakdown

Listen, I understand the reasoning to compare sequel iterations but whoever said Resident Evil 1-6 are basically the same game.... bad take. 1-3 are similar, 4 changed things up dramatically, and 5-6 are what they are & are very different. Like I don't think 6 is anywhere close to the first 3 games, it's almost incomparable.

But I understand your point.... sequels don't need to completely change the formula. When that formula gets stale or stops working, I understand the reason for changing things up. But when you have a wildly loved & successful first game in a series, the sequel should build from that & improve the formula, when Horizon gets a few games in, I can understand maybe trying to switch things up on a fundamental level, but not on your first sequel, that's when you alienate your audience & the people who made your first game a success....HFW is a great game and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, I feel like some people just hamper their enjoyment of games by being hypercritical but that's their right. I think most of us understand that HFW is a great game & that 90% of the people playing it know what they're getting with it & are loving it. I know I am.

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Version Likely Launching Tomorrow

GalacticBreakdown

I'm really looking forward to this and even more to the Witcher 3 PS5 version. Especially after finishing the second season of the show, I'm dying for another playthrough after already putting 200 hours into the base game & the expansions. Blade Runner, Heavy Metal, Strange Days, Ghost in The Shell, Akira are some of my favorite movies & Jean "Moebius" Giraud is my favorite artist..... so I'm dying to like Cyberpunk, it feels like one of the closest & most realized games of that genre.... so I'm praying for this to be great.
