Re: Keep Your Kid's PS5 Gaming In Check with the New PlayStation Family App

Eclipse_Dj

@FinneasGH this functionality is in the current PS app. A little clunky sure, but I can go into family settings set start and finish times, amount of time allowed, pegi rating access, individual game access and exceptions, spend limit per month.

Ok so I just downloaded it and it streamlines all the above. The app open straight on your child’s account with everything laid out clearly with graphs showing time played, time left, activity through the week etc.

Re: PSVR2 Rhythm Game Synth Riders Latest Challenges+ Update Brings the Chaos

It’s good to see more PSVR2 news on Push Square in recent months. I know the user base is a lot smaller than base PS5/Pro users, but it is a fantastic Sony product that works with the aforementioned consoles to bring incredible new experiences in gaming.

It is certainly deserving of news updates and articles like this. I get that VR doesn’t interest everyone, some are priced out, others see it as an undesirable or unnecessary peripheral. Personally, I believe VR is on the cusp of becoming a more mainstream way of playing video games and we should show support when developers put out a VR game, mode, DLC or patch update in the same way we do for “flat” tv games.

If it’s ballpark around equivalent PS4/PS4 Pro with a few additional bells and whistles in terms of data read speeds, ray tracing etc. then damn that’s incredible for a portable tablet.

I like hearing what Digital Foundry have to say because they know their stuff and I find it interesting. But ultimately the games will be judged on their released versions, plus any additional patches and if a few frame drops in more demanding moments and a lower resolution don’t detract or ruin the overall experience of a good game then it will be just fine and the majority of users will be more than happy with it.

Re: Resident Evil Village VR Mode Gets Demo Alongside PSVR2 Launch

Not returning as such. I played a little of the original demo, barely scratching the surface. Having played Resi 4 VR on Quest 2 I am very much looking forward to experiencing this free mode. I bought the gold edition in January for £33 which already has the excellent Rose additional content and optional third-person mode.

Re: Soapbox: Sony's Bet on PSVR2 Is Brave and That's a Brilliant Thing

For me VR has been an exciting prospect since I saw an arcade iteration back in the 1990's. I think, with the power of the PS5, the tech for finger/eye tracking, 4k resolution, high refresh rates, coupled with the recent popularity and simplicity of the Oculus/Meta Quest 2 - this is the perfect time to bring VR to the masses!

PSVR1 was too clumsy, cumbersome and complicated to set up. The mass off wires, the poor camera and the calibration involved put many off, and it used dated tech - with the Move controllers not even featuring an analog stick. Already, PSVR2 is streets ahead, and makes more sense as a genuine gaming platform that can offer a unique immersive experience. FPS, Racing games, flight sims, many sports games will play to VR strengths for a more interactive and realistic experience. Hopefully we will see more full-game titles like Resident Evil, GTA, rather than on-rails, point to move efforts of old. I for one am excited for this era of VR, having held off on the PSVR1, and playing on a friend's Quest 2, this is a day one investment for me.

Even with PSVR1's shortcomings there are still 70 odd games available for it and I have no doubt Sony will push to support this even more. If they can upgrade some of those older titles to work on PSVR2, I think that would definitely help at launch with sales because I am sure there are many like me who held off playing PSVR due to its limitations in display, freedom and input.

Re: Here's Your First Look at Free-to-Play eFootball on PS5

@AFCC You do know it is a free to play game and that option files will still work right? So you would most likely need to spend nothing, or very little if you wanted to play Master League for example. However, FIFA 22 Standard Edition is available to pre-order for an extortionate £69.99 (Shame on you if you willingly pay that price for an annual update)

Re: Talking Point: Should Capcom Remake Resident Evil 4?

Eclipse_Dj

It seems that although the vote majority said yes (me included) many of us would prefer a Code Veronica, Dino Crisis 1 & 2 remaster firstly, because the gameplay mechanic and visual upgrades for those are so drastic. I'd love to see them go back and do these remasters to the original Resi and to Resi 0 too.

Re: PlayStation Now Subscribers Are Losing PS Store Purchases Due to a Licenses Bug

Eclipse_Dj

This has bugged me for a long time in regards to PS Plus titles showing as "purchased" so that when the game is on offer you cannot choose to properly buy it and own it, so you are duty bound to continue your PSN subscription if you ever want to play the games in future. Why can't we see offer prices too even if we do own the title? Sometimes I like to tell my brother what's on offer but need to look online because I'm effectively blocked to view the price on my console.
