Who is getting battery life anywhere in the double digits for PS5 controllers? Seriously the battery life of these things is atrocious. I have my controllers set by default to power on without the microphone being enabled and even when I just use it to start YouTube or Hulu and leave the controller idle I still feel like it dies in less than 10 hours and I have two controllers that do the same thing so can’t even use the excuse of maybe it’s just that my controller is bad.
I’m primarily a Switch player and have gotten used to playing in handheld more than on the tv. I’ve found that I just don’t care as much for being tethered to a tv anymore I enjoy the freedom of going from one room to another without the hassle of disconnecting my hardware and moving it around. That said no way I’m spending $200 on a dual sense controller chopper in half and superglued to an 8 inch screen 🤣

@HonestHick I actually do this quite often when I get the chance. When the Nintendo Switch preorders went live I managed to snag 4 preorders and I sold three of them to friends for exactly how much they cost after tax. More recently last Friday the Pyra and Mythra amiibo released and I managed to order two so I could get a set for my friend. I was interested in these plates but not at $65 honestly and definitely not now with these scum selling them for so much. Unfortunately since post pandemic it’s only been getting harder and harder for those of us who legitimately want these things. I always considered myself pretty good at securing retail orders for these things but I couldn’t even get a hold of a PS5 until over a year after release… I tried for that Hogwarts Legacy controller and yeah, despite being on the site minutes before it went live and continually refreshing I couldn’t get one
Been waiting so long for a new Armored Core! Not a fan of Souls games been waiting patiently for From to take a break from Souls games. All you Souls players don’t worry I’m sure you will get a new game soon but let us AC fans enjoy this
“This is obviously unusual because typically a game’s post-release support has concluded by now, unless it’s a live service like Fortnite or Genshin Impact.”
This has become more and more common with Bandai Namco published games as of late, at least when it comes to anime licensed games. Dragon Ball Z Xenoverse and Kakarot are still going strong, and FighterZ and My Hero Academia One’s Justice 2 both got post release support well over a year after release. I actually wish more publishers would take notice to this. Rather than releasing sequels with incremental changes just keep those changes on one game and continue with long term dlc plans.
@MattBoothDev Tell that to Xbox users that wanted to play Final Fantasy 16… that’s also a series that has been multiplatform for a number of years yet the latest game is PS5 exclusive. I tend to remain mostly neutral between Sony and Microsoft. I have both consoles so I can play all the best exclusives. I have no loyalties to one or the other (though I do vastly prefer the Dual Sense controller), but I keep seeing so many entitled people showing up saying these games shouldn’t be exclusive but those same people defend PlayStation exclusives. Strong exclusive software encourages competition don’t be loyal to a company
I love how all of a sudden Microsoft isn’t allowed to have console exclusives… I’m not defending them don’t get me wrong, even though the Activision deal wouldn’t effect me in the least as I haven’t played an Activision title in well over 10 years, but I don’t want it to go through just because I don’t want any of the big three to get that much power in the industry. But ever since this whole thing was proposed it seems like everybody is whining about Starfield being exclusive or Elder Scrolls 6 being exclusive. Is Microsoft getting God of War or Horizon or freaking Spider-Man? No. It’s fine for Sony to have big exclusives to help sell their console but now that Microsoft is finally getting good exclusives suddenly it’s unfair…
@PlasmaticSnake it’s all about compression. Some developers are better at compression than others, and some just don’t care enough. Perfect example of that would be Star Wars Jedi Survivor. No reason that game had to be 160gb, especially when this game, which likely has far more dialogue likely more music, graphically just as impressive manages under 100gb
@get2sammyb I get the feeling that another of their aims with this demo was to give faith to the older fans of the franchise who had practically given up after the last few games were pretty much stinkers. I know XV has its fans but I don’t think it’s really a hot take to say that game was not great, or even really good for that matter. I do have to say as a fan of the franchise though this game plays very differently from older games this demo reignited my love of the franchise. This is such a shame and I imagine it’s true for a lot of people. This also makes me concerned as an Armored Core fan that’s been waiting over a decade for a new game in the series. I’m concerned that this game will have less of an AC feel because From Soft wants to cater to their fan base. The trailers I’ve seen look nice but the gameplay doesn’t look very AC to me. I hope I’m wrong and this turns out to be great, but at this point I feel like my best chance at getting a new AC experience is going to be with Daemon X Machina 2. The first game was a bit bland and rough around the edges, but it had that AC feel. Hopefully they can improve it for the sequel. That said I’m still going to be checking this out and hope that it’s good
@NeonDint haven’t played it yet but F bombs in a Final Fantasy?! I don’t mind curing in games where it feels appropriate for the setting like a Grand Theft Auto game or something of that nature… is this Square-Enix trying to appeal to angsty teens by being “more mature”? Cursing for the sake of cursing adds nothing to the game. I’ll judge it for myself once I play the demo though to decide if I feel it works within the game or if it feels completely out of place which is what I’m honestly expecting
Woke up and saw it dropped overnight. I’m at work today so I just used the app to get it to download on my console. Might give it a try when I get home if I get the chance. Truth be told I’ve not been the biggest fan of modern Final Fantasy games. XII was the last decent one to me and even that I didn’t think was so great. Still this looks interesting enough to give it a shot. Don’t see how it can be much worse than XV at least
@Neverwild “ I saw more and better games at playstation showcase, most was third party games but still more.”
Did we watch the same showcase? What were these better games that Sony showed? Personally I was very disappointed by the Sony showcase and came out of Microsoft’s pleasantly surprised. Though I suppose I do hold Sony to a higher standard, I thought their showcase was pretty bad really. And while at least 80% of what was shown is targeting 2024 at least it bodes well for a decent year for Microsoft which we haven’t seen in a long time
These kind of games just don’t hold my attention on console. Hopefully this gets ported to the next Switch whenever that releases, assuming Nintendo does another hybrid console. I ended up getting Diablo 3 and the remaster for 2 on my Switch and I just can’t go back. These games just feel best to me as a portable to take out for like 20 minutes during my lunch break, not something I will spend hours playing on the couch in front of the tv
Tin foil hat time. What if the reason compression has gotten so much worse is because these developers are getting kick backs from the SSD manufacturers. Being incentivized to keep compression minimal in order to get more people to buy more upgraded storage
Probably going to wait for a sale on this one. I heard about it earlier this year but I’ve had my PSVR packed up for a couple years now and was hoping for a PSVR 2 upgrade. After checking out a review it said the story doesn’t last much more than an hour, though there is an arcade mode that seems like it might be an endless mode? In any case there’s just not enough content here to justify $24.99 for me especially when Walkabout Mini Golf is available for $34.99 with all its dlc for $34.99 and offers MUCH more replay value. Into the wish list this goes.
Walkabout Mini Golf is going on my wish list but that’s about it. This weekend (and likely the rest of the month at least) for me goes to my Switch as I take my time through Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
@NEStalgia there in lies my issue with this movie. Sony could be making a God of War or Horizon movie. Something that actually has a story that could be adapted. This seems like it’s just going to be a generic racing movie. It could be a good movie, but it’s less a movie adapting a game story and more an excuse to slap the name on it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, as much as I would love an Astro Bot Rescue Mission PSVR 2 upgrade I just don’t see it happening. That game pretty much requires the DualShock 4 controller as the light bar tracking was utilized in a way that I just don’t believe could be well replicated using the ps5 controllers accelerometer. At best we could see a new Astro Bot game on PSVR 2
@Konks agreed. Honestly I’m just happy they threw us a bone with AC VI. I get it that they are going to capitalize on what sells and that I’m technically in the minority here. It reminds me of how annoyed I was at Kojima constantly making Metal Gear Solid games, which I’m not a fan of at all, when all I wanted was Zone of the Enders 3
So happy to see Armored Core make a comeback! I don’t care much for the Soulsbourne games and with how successful they are I had just about given up hope that From would ever come back to this franchise. Daemon X Machina was ok as a spiritual successor but something about it just felt off to me. Here’s hoping this is a return to form for the Armored Core franchise
I love my PSVR 2 and I want it to succeed, but I can see why it’s failing.
For one thing it really needs a huge game to make people take notice like idk maybe Half Life Alyx… I’m certain there are many gamers that so desperately want to experience this game that just don’t have the means to run pc vr like myself. Now it can be argued that one game alone won’t sell such expensive hardware but I’m sure there are people on the fence that need that one final push.
Secondly I think Sony has been doing an awful job marketing it. It just doesn’t feel like they are pushing for it to get exposure beyond the hard core audience that already are aware of it. I’ve had this conversation before with friends, but I feel VR is something you have to experience first hand. I think hosting demo events (maybe partnering with a store like Best Buy) to allow people to try it for themselves would go a long way to show the value in the platform.
And finally the one unavoidable problem is not everybody is going to have the necessary space or are willing to rearrange their home to accommodate for it.
I do have one other personal issue that has kept me from playing it for the past few weeks as I just adopted a kitten and the fact that it’s wired is an issue because she likes to go after the cable while I use it so I’m still trying to figure out a solution for this 😂
If the PS5 had a normal console launch then I would say 2024-2025 would be a reasonable launch timeframe for a Pro. The truth of the matter though is this generation only feels like it is just starting. Many people are only now actually able to get their consoles due to chip shortages and launching during a global pandemic and because of scarcity developers had been forced to support previous generation. I’m sure a Pro is coming and probably earlier than it really should, but to answer the question, yes I do think it’s too early if these rumors are to be believed.
This is really surprising considering early previews seemed overwhelmingly positive. Perhaps this is a case like how movie trailers tend to show you the best parts of the movie the early preview build had the best parts of the game? This really wasn’t a game for me anyway, I had no plans to pick it up at launch figured it may be good as a $10 or $15 game on sale. I’m sure it will get that low at some point. I’m picking up Gorn tomorrow anyway. I loved that game on PSVR aside from how clunky locomotion felt, which shouldn’t be a problem with the VR Sense controllers.
For those that are looking forward to this and have it preordered I hope you still enjoy it and I hope it doesn’t disappoint
I’ve been playing my PSVR 2 since launch and aside from experiencing that weird controller glitch where the right controller refused to operate in game, which fortunately seems to have been taken care of, have been having a blast with it. I moved some furniture around to be able to (just barely) set up for room scaling. I do have a question though, for games that allow for standing or room scaling, what’s the real difference? Like is there some toggle in the options that I’m missing? What is the advantage to having my play area set up for room scale as opposed to stationary standing aside from the obvious having a larger play area so your hands don’t leave the play area so easily? Sorry if this is a dumb question, only other VR devices I played were the first PSVR and the Samsung Gear VR, neither of which had any of this room scaling. As far as I can tell the only difference is a larger play space.
@icarusdreams it’s not about the connection requirement that most are upset about because, as you said, we are almost always connected anyway. It’s about the necessity to be connected to the server. It’s really bad for game preservation. Plus how do you think you would feel if you payed full price for a game, and let’s say the game flopped hard and the studio went under 6 months after release and servers shut down. It’s really just not good for games with full solo campaigns to be restricted to requiring a constant online connection.
This game was fun for what it is, even if it was a little basic for me. I’m really having a hard time trusting the VR reviews on this site though when something like this reviews higher than Star Wars Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge and got the same score as Horizon Call of the Mountain. I suppose the budget price can be considered, but even so this game regularly retails at $24.99. Half the price of Star Wars for probably less than 1/4 of the amount of content.
I tried the demo briefly, but stopped mid way through the tutorial… I got to where you learn how to use the flashlight and medicine. I accidentally dropped the medicine and couldn’t find it after that so I couldn’t progress with the tutorial… I’m really not sure I’ll be picking it up. I’ve never been the biggest RE fan. Nothing against horror games and I really REALLY wanted to like this with all the great things I heard, I just feel like it’s too much. I felt like too much I’d thrown at me at once. I found myself constantly trying to figure out where each weapon/item is stored. Maybe it’s just a learning curve and I need to give it another chance.
@JP80 I would say I’d rather have new games over ports, but in this case PSVR 2 is such a massive improvement with the tracking and controllers alone that I agree I’d like to see more of the big PSVR games get ports. I’d like to add to that list Marvel’s Iron Man, and I’d like to see an enhanced version of Vader Immortal similarly to how Tales of Galaxy’s Edge got an enhanced release for PSVR 2.
@KaijuKaiser I just got done playing this for a while and though I’m only a few levels in im having a blast with it. I didn’t really notice any wacky physics in the hour or so I spent in it and if the rest of the game maintains the same quality I’ve seen so far I agree this is easy an 8 out of 10 for me.
Sadly I have encountered this problem. Completely ruined my launch day experience as the only games I had playable were Rez Infinite and Tetris Effect. Found out about the temporary fix yesterday and though it’s extremely inconvenient to have to desync and pair the controller every single time I boot up a game it was very awesome to be able to play Horizon Call of the Mountain and Star Wars Tales of Galaxy’s Edge. I have other games to play but the inconvenience of it all just makes me not want to bother until this gets resolved. The real joke of it all is Sony wants me to send my controller back for a new one, which seems like it could take well over two weeks to possibly even a month at the worst, AND states the owner has to cover shipping charges. So I spend $600 for a VR that’s (sort of) defective out of the box and I’m paying to ship it?! Anyway I’m not even confident a replacement will work. It’s definitely software, but what I’m not sure about is if it’s the controller software or the console
@NEStalgia oh yeah I’m aware that the tracking is done by the headset cameras and all that means is the leds on the controller are active, only reason I mention that is because it’s proof the controller itself is still active in some capacity. This at least tells us the controller doesn’t just switch off or lose connection with the console. It does appear as a Sense VR right controller in the system, and I tried another little experiment I attempted to run Demeo without using the VR headset but using the sense controllers. When you first boot the game it asks you if you are playing in VR or standard and I tried selecting standard and X still did nothing. The console definitely knows it’s a VR controller. I’m just hoping it’s bad firmware and they just replace it. Do you know if there’s any way I can force a firmware update to go through? I couldn’t find a way to do so.
@NEStalgia Yeah I know it’s the weirdest issue I’ve ever had with a game controller. I agree with you and felt the same way. Even told the guy I’m not sure that’s going to work but I’m out of options. I’ve done everything I can think of short of doing a factory reset of my console. I tried closing and reopening software, powering off the controller and restarting them, hard resetting the console, and unpairing and repairing the controller. The only button I get any response from is the PlayStation button and as soon as I hit it and get the sub menu I can use controls. And again as I said previously the tracking still functions. I’m honestly perplexed here. I know the hardware works, the ONLY thing I can possibly think of is maybe it has some sort of firmware issue in the controller. I did try seeing if I could possibly update it but couldn’t get that to happen either…
I was so excited to get my headset after work today. I was counting down the minutes until I could leave. Then I got home and agonizingly waited for my Sense controllers to charge. FINALLY I was ready to start it up and went through the set up process. I booted up Horizon and something felt off. It said to press X to continue but X did nothing. So I pressed square on the left controller and advanced to the next part where you must press and hold options to reorient the screed. I press and hold and nothing happens. I’m completely stuck at this point cannot progress to the actual game, so I launch Star Wars, once again X does nothing. I get into game and first thing I’m supposed to do is pick an item up and my right sense controller does nothing. The headset tracks it just fine but I soon realized I have a lemon. Controls in game just don’t work at all. In the ps5 menus they work but in games I get nothing at all. Spent an hour on hold to talk with Sony and another 40 minutes on the phone with the repair specialist. And now they suspect it is the controller and I have to go through a long process of emails and then send in the controller. The whole thing seems like it will take about two weeks… absolutely gutted right now. I even tried Kayak VR Mirage and all I can do is paddle around in the pool since you need use of the X buttons for navigating menus. The only two VR games I have that are playable to me are Tetris Effect and Rez Infinite. Both great games in their own rights but not the VR experiences I really want right now.
@Fill3rup_ my best guess is that because this update is actually a full content update across all versions of the game, not just to add PSVR 2 support. Completely speculation on my part but maybe they just decided best to launch it as is and improve it later than to hold up the update as it seems Hello Games wanted the update to go live on all versions of the game simultaneously. That or what I heard was completely false and this is the VR version we are getting
@Fill3rup_ I thought it was announced that the PSVR 2 update was supposed to be delayed from launch day to launch window, so maybe they just pushed it out and the visuals will be improved later?
I’d like to know what the “and more” games are. Currently I have Star Wars Tales of Galaxy’s Edge, Kayak VR, Demeo, and Tentacular preordered and installed and I got Horizon Call of the Mountain with my PSVR 2 bundle. I’ll happily try the RE Village. I’ve never been much of a RE fan, but Village looks pretty good and I’m hearing it’s going to be great in VR. Still considering Light Brigade too while it’s still on sale.
As an owner of the first PSVR I can’t wait for my PSVR 2 to come in. The visual quality and tracking of the original headset wasn’t great but the experience in general was still great! I had been on the fence for years about getting a Quest headset as the Move controllers just didn’t work as well for many games. I’m glad that Sony didn’t phone it in with this. I’m getting the bundle with Horizon, already preordered Kayak VR, and plan on picking up Star Wars as well. I don’t mind original PSVR upgrades as I feel many of them will benefit from the sense controllers. In particular I’m excited to hear that Gorn is coming. I’m hoping Vader Immortal and Iron Man VR get ported too. Also would LOVE to see Astrobot, though I’m not sure that one would be possible without use of the PS4 controller with the light bar camera tracking. Maybe we just get a new Astrobot at some point? My only concern is the “screen door” effect. How noticeable is it compared with the first PSVR? I felt it really brought the visual fidelity down, hoping it’s not so bad on this headset

Re: New PS5, PS4 Games This Week (8th May to 14th May)
Walkabout Mini Golf is going on my wish list but that’s about it. This weekend (and likely the rest of the month at least) for me goes to my Switch as I take my time through Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
Re: Gran Turismo Movie Trailer Makes a Rolling Start Tomorrow
@NEStalgia there in lies my issue with this movie. Sony could be making a God of War or Horizon movie. Something that actually has a story that could be adapted. This seems like it’s just going to be a generic racing movie. It could be a good movie, but it’s less a movie adapting a game story and more an excuse to slap the name on it.
Re: Best PSVR Games We Want Upgraded for PSVR2
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, as much as I would love an Astro Bot Rescue Mission PSVR 2 upgrade I just don’t see it happening. That game pretty much requires the DualShock 4 controller as the light bar tracking was utilized in a way that I just don’t believe could be well replicated using the ps5 controllers accelerometer. At best we could see a new Astro Bot game on PSVR 2
Re: Elden Ring's FromSoftware Wants to Release New and Exciting Games More Frequently
Re: Elden Ring Dev's Next Big Thing Armored Core 6 Targets PS5, PS4 on 25th August
Re: Rumour: Sony's Allegedly Cut PSVR2 Production Plan by 20% in 2023
I love my PSVR 2 and I want it to succeed, but I can see why it’s failing.
I do have one other personal issue that has kept me from playing it for the past few weeks as I just adopted a kitten and the fact that it’s wired is an issue because she likes to go after the cable while I use it so I’m still trying to figure out a solution for this 😂
Re: Talking Point: Is 2024 Too Soon for PS5 Pro?
If the PS5 had a normal console launch then I would say 2024-2025 would be a reasonable launch timeframe for a Pro. The truth of the matter though is this generation only feels like it is just starting. Many people are only now actually able to get their consoles due to chip shortages and launching during a global pandemic and because of scarcity developers had been forced to support previous generation. I’m sure a Pro is coming and probably earlier than it really should, but to answer the question, yes I do think it’s too early if these rumors are to be believed.
Re: Hands On: The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR Is Massively Underwhelming So Far
Re: PSVR2 Launch Game What the Bat Now Playable in Stationary Standing Mode
Re: Disastrous PS5 Demo Leads to Suicide Squad Delay
@icarusdreams it’s not about the connection requirement that most are upset about because, as you said, we are almost always connected anyway. It’s about the necessity to be connected to the server. It’s really bad for game preservation. Plus how do you think you would feel if you payed full price for a game, and let’s say the game flopped hard and the studio went under 6 months after release and servers shut down. It’s really just not good for games with full solo campaigns to be restricted to requiring a constant online connection.
Re: Mini Review: What the Bat? (PSVR2) - Bonkers, Bite-Sized Fun Ideal for Beginners
Re: Resident Evil Village (PSVR2) - An Even More Intense Version of a PS5 Great
I tried the demo briefly, but stopped mid way through the tutorial… I got to where you learn how to use the flashlight and medicine.
Re: Mini Review: PowerWash Simulator: Midgar Special Pack (PS5) - Another Chill Crisis Chore
I keep hearing good things about this game but I just can’t justify the price for what it is. I’m still waiting on a sale.
Side note I would buy this now at full price if it had a PSVR 2 mode. This kind of game just seems like such a perfect fit for VR imo
Re: Mini Review: Altair Breaker (PSVR2) - Unfinished Online-Only Sword Fighter Doesn't Cut It
@JP80 I would say I’d rather have new games over ports, but in this case PSVR 2 is such a massive improvement with the tracking and controllers alone that I agree I’d like to see more of the big PSVR games get ports. I’d like to add to that list Marvel’s Iron Man, and I’d like to see an enhanced version of Vader Immortal similarly to how Tales of Galaxy’s Edge got an enhanced release for PSVR 2.
Re: Mini Review: Tentacular (PSVR2) - Physics Puzzler May (Ten)tickle Your Fancy
Re: PSVR2 Sense Controllers Aren't Working for Some Early Adopters
@keediddy did you try resetting the controller while in game and syncing it back up. It definitely works for now just extremely inconvenient.
Re: PSVR2 Sense Controllers Aren't Working for Some Early Adopters
Re: Out Today: PSVR2 Brings Next-Gen VR to the Masses
Re: Out Today: PSVR2 Brings Next-Gen VR to the Masses
Re: Out Today: PSVR2 Brings Next-Gen VR to the Masses
Re: No Man's Sky Fractal Update Available Today, Adds Full PSVR2 Support Plus Lots More
@Fill3rup_ my best guess is that because this update is actually a full content update across all versions of the game, not just to add PSVR 2 support. Completely speculation on my part but maybe they just decided best to launch it as is and improve it later than to hold up the update as it seems Hello Games wanted the update to go live on all versions of the game simultaneously. That or what I heard was completely false and this is the VR version we are getting
Re: No Man's Sky Fractal Update Available Today, Adds Full PSVR2 Support Plus Lots More
@Fill3rup_ I thought it was announced that the PSVR 2 update was supposed to be delayed from launch day to launch window, so maybe they just pushed it out and the visuals will be improved later?
Re: PSVR2 Demos and Trials Available on PS Store Tomorrow
I’d like to know what the “and more” games are. Currently I have Star Wars Tales of Galaxy’s Edge, Kayak VR, Demeo, and Tentacular preordered and installed and I got Horizon Call of the Mountain with my PSVR 2 bundle. I’ll happily try the RE Village. I’ve never been much of a RE fan, but Village looks pretty good and I’m hearing it’s going to be great in VR. Still considering Light Brigade too while it’s still on sale.
Re: PSVR2 Review: Is It Worth It?
