Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, Phantom Liberty Stream Set for Thursday

question for you fine folks - is this base game running well now? Is it fun/cool?

I stayed so far away from it because of it's launch I never really re-visited the possibility of playing it. but now...

I do love me some Cyberpunk settings. But then I read the cities are empty. Which is really the opposite of what the genre is.

If Idris Elba is making an appearance with a "surprise or two" that suggests the update is coming this Thursday woo!

@Cashews Yes. Runs very well. Its miles better than its release state. I'm also a huge fan of the setting - you can't go wrong with this one if you are. Its so cheap anyway.

@Cashews Personally I think the game's genuinely great on PS5 at this point and 2.0 should make it even better.

@Cashews can only speak for console but it’s running well enough. There’s a good deal of blurriness at times, and most of the gameplay shown as of late is on high end PC or otherwise modded. Frankly I’m waiting for release and reviews, I’m well and done resolving to purchase games on launch when we still have more questions than answers.

I’d wait for it if I were you, smells like another case of putting lipstick on a pig.

@Cashews gameplay wise it’s quite fun though, so considering the base game price is usually floating around 20-30 bucks CAD it’s a good buy. For the dlc, I would err on the side of caution.

I loaded this up on the PS5 had a funky intro screen v no head arms out stretched and rolling along as if his head was down looking at his feet that was round January time 🤣😂

@Cashews Just ignore all the open-world stuff, and you will have a great time.

@Cashews runs ok on PS5, a steal at 30$ or less.

Hoping the surprise is that 2.0 releases that day!

@OScube is it okay to buy the PS4 version boxed? Is that how it is done? Sorry for being such a nab I'm scared.

@Cashews The game is running perfectly fine on PS5 (unless some rare fps dips are an issue for you). I've played itat 30fps with RayTracing and it's gorgeous (even if I'm salivating when I see how it looks on PC), but I admit I'm not someone really bothered by low fps (I'm more bothered by unsteady fps).

As for the fun factor, this game was one of my most enjoyable gaming experience of last year. I was completely immersed in Night City (what a fantastic sandbox!) and invested in V's story. The implementation of Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) really blew my expectations out of the water.

Really great game, if you like sci-fi, go for it, you can find it very cheap nowadays. But I'd wait for 2.0, which should make the game even better.

@Cashews Yeah, stick the PS4 disc in and select the PS5 version to download.

As long as the 'surprise' isn't that they're delaying the update/DLC until next year to avoid another sh*t-storm, I'm happy..

I hope the update drops that day also. I want some play time before the DLC to get back into it and respec my character since they are changing the whole skill tree and more

@Cashews you mean buying the the ps4 version and upgrading it?

@OScube I don't know. I like having physical copies so i went and shopped for the latest version. i got confused when i only saw PS4 or Xbone versions for the box. is that normal? is there an upgrade option in the menu or something?

sorry I havent even had this latest gen for a very long time and I never owned a ps4 or xbone. I skipped a gen completely for the pc.

I'm actually more interested in this update than the expansion itself. Finally bringing car combat and expanding on it with integrated weapons, the monowire quickhack is actually being put into the game from the demos, melee combat is getting massively improved, the skills for the relic are actually interesting(Making me even more interested in the regular skill trees), and everything being reworked or updated.

Going from Starfield to Phantom Liberty is simply gaming bliss for me. Game release schedule has been fantastic this year. Cant wait

I for one loved the game on PC. Never drank the cool-aid that it would actually run on a PS4.

@Cashews It's been better for a long while now. Edge runner update added even more stuff but I've been enjoying it since launch. It had some bugs like any other game but my XBSX ran the game no problem. No CTDs at all but others apparently had some. On last gen consoles it was unplayable at launch for sure. Anyways I'd definitely check it out the setting and vibe is worth it alone. It can be empty in some areas sure but it more than makes up for it in other areas. It's meticulously built with some excellent RT in it to. Characters, Builds, gunplay, mono wire and quickhacks are all fun and lots of secrets to find. So get out there Choom and play some Cyberpunk it will not be a wasted a purchase they practically are giving away the game now.

@Fragslayer thanks for the good write-up. I will also add that the netflix anime was excellent - really enjoyed that one. that deserves another season.
