Wasn’t interested in this from the previous gameplay trailers. Thought it sounded good but looked janky. This has totally changed my mind. Feels like there’s been a lot of polishing going on. May be a day one for me now
@TurboTom @MarcG420 Sorry guys but unless you can see some air vents in the smaller cube, the big plexiglass box seems to be the only one with vents. I think PS5 is going to be a bit of a beast. As long as it's whisper quiet though, I really don't care.
@DarthAmmii Same. I actually doubt that there is a large enough player base on either XBox or PlayStation that cares enough about playing first or second gen games for backward compatibility to be a true system seller. Maybe one gen i.e. XBox One games on Series X or PS4 on PS5 but I don’t believe Microsoft are going to sell millions of Series X because you could dig Halo 1 out of a skip somewhere and play it on your Series X.
Microsoft’s horrific mismanagement of first-party titles (and Phil Spencer is as equally to blame as his predecessor imo) and decision to make the X Box One redundant to PC owners by putting everything on Windows has caused them to be left miles behind in this race. Give me a decent game I can only play on Xbox Phil and I’ll buy your console. Not seen one yet.
For anyone wanting a bit more of a layman’s breakdown of the PS5 architecture I’d recommend this video https://youtu.be/erxUR9SI4F0 where a game developer reacts to Mark Cerny’s GDC presentation. He does a good job of explaining why it’s not just replacing the HDD with any old SSD that matters for the PS5. The keywords for PS5 are “custom architecture”
Wouldn’t be surprised to see GTAV Remaster Remastered. I mean Rockstar would be stupid not to squeeze more money out of that game wouldn’t they?
On a serious note, as others have said, a sequel to The Order 1886 would blow my mind. Loved the world RaD created, just please give us some more involved gameplay this time.
I think we’re forgetting a certain Leslie Benzies (ex head of Rockstar North and a massive input to GTAV.... and GTAIII). He also reportedly stepped in to sort out the Housers’ mess during the final stages of RDR at Rockstar San Diego. So, not only am I not fussed about Houser’s departure, I think Rockstar’s been through this before with Benzies strange exit from the company and will survive. Now bring on GTA London and a p-take of the Brits! 🤞
@Thrillho Nah, surely it’s got to be the waterfall level. As a kid I remember having to use the cheat to skip that level so I could complete the game. Call me an idiot but they’ve got my money for these. Nostalgia is a good wallet opener.
The PSX trailer for this totally sold me on this game. Never really liked Japanese titles (apart from early GameBoy Pokemon) but there's something about the art style combined with the sections of combat that I've seen that's got me putting it on my "To Buy" list. Have to admit that I was a bit surprised to find out that the main girl protagonist was actually a boy though!
As a skier, I really enjoyed it. It's one of those games that I could see myself jumping into for the odd hour here and there with Spotify on. I'd like it as a PS Store purchase so I don't have to mess around putting a disc in but I'm kinda struggling to justify the £55 price those highway robbers at Sony want - Amazon has it for £42. Why do we continue to get ripped off by digital purchases?????
@GamerDad66 I played the first 20 minutes or so again firstly on my 1080p set and then took it over to my parents to play on their Samsung KS8000. The difference was pretty staggering. Really beautiful reflections of light in puddles and night really feels like night. I spent ages on the HDR set just flicking through the time of day at different locations on the map. Although it was just upscaled 1080p, it at least sold me on the HDR aspect.
On another note, my OG PS4 plugged into a 4K HDR, gave me the option to chooses 30fps or uncapped on Second Son. Don't know if that was always an option but it seemed to run pretty smoothly on uncapped, definitely in the 60fps region.
@kyleforrester87 Not impressed by the super fast horde mode of the freakers? I thought that World War Z feeling of hundreds of them chasing you at top speed could lead to some really frantic set pieces.
@Ralizah Emm..... that it's dealing with a bleak theme? It's a post apocalyptic game. Horizon's dinosaurs don't appear to want to eat your intestines.... at least not from what Guerilla has shown anyway. What do you expect, a Disney colour palatte?
@NathanUC I got the Samsung M9T 2TB for £100 from Amazon (marked down from £149). Same rpm as the factory 500Gb so no change to load times. Pretty cheap I thought and no game's load times bothers me (more so after Bloodborne was patched to address it's shocking loading time).
@99miki Correction - This update is useless for non 4K HDR TV owners. I'm gonna hook up my OG PS4 to my dad's new 4K Samsung so I can see how the HDR looks.
@AFCC You do know how RDR ended yes? It has to be a prequel.
I think the title is perhaps a marketing thing. People who only really loosely know about RDR can immediately identify this product as being related to the first one.
Doing the developer's commentary for Firewatch (along with the additional trophies) and then it's time to deal with two problematical women.... The Witch of Hemwick and Vicar Amelia. Think I need to thank the IGN Prepare To Try boys for getting me back into Bloodborne after pretty much giving up on it last year. I am now a much more patient gamer.... well... kind of.
As another person without any 4K or HDR enabled tech, I won't be getting one. Whilst the Pro reveal didn't excite me, what it did do was allow me to go ahead with the decision to upgrade my ps4 hard drive to 2TB. Otherwise I would have put the money towards the Pro.
What I don't understand though is all the hate for the Pro either in relation to it being labelled a mid-cycle upgrade or Sony not making a product that could compete with the Scorpio.
Firstly, I don't really see it as necessarily the start of a pattern of mid-cycle upgrades because it isn't really. Sony are providing a console with a better GPU with no stand-alone games and a very weak marketing pitch of "we're asking developers to consider adding higher graphics fidelity options to their games". Unless games come out whereby having the Pro means you can play games and access functionality of other games that you can't with the og PS4, it's merely a way of addressing the emerging 4K and HDR TV market. I would suggest that now that has been established, the PS5.5/slim when it's released will have, what we see at that time as, only minor improvements, again not greatly impacting on og PS5 owners. 6k and above is a diminishing return visually.
Secondly, people are annoyed because of the inability of Sony to release a console to compete with Microsoft's CLAIMED specifications????? Whilst I don't doubt they will release the Scorpio as a more powerful console, please remember that they have shown NOTHING to prove that the specs are feasible (or can be built at a consumer-friendly RRP) and that the finished article will be as was originally dreamt up by Microsoft. Also, I don't see the Scorpio as being a mid-cycle release, it will be Microsoft's new gen system and I think Sony never intended for anything but the PS5 to be the Scorpio rival.
Getting towards the end of Unravel and then may try and get the platinum. It's definitely selling me on Sweden's stunning countryside. Really want to get Firewatch but the comments about performance issues are putting me off at the moment. For such a nice stylistic game (that I know I'll enjoy) I don't want to spoil my experience when I can maybe wait til they've put some sort of fix in.
Got back into GTA V, having completed it on PS3 I now need to do the same with my PS4 copy. The last of those stupid Riddler puzzles and trophies are also staring at me, mocking me. God I hate them but it's the only thing I need to do to finish off the whole Arkham Knight campaign.
I was totally hyped about this game at its E3 reveal..... then I kinda forgot about it. Then they re-hyped me with the most recent trailer release..... but when I saw the gameplay videos and the bullet sponge brute enemies..... they lost me. Hoped that there might be be some finesse to this game. I love the setting but with concerns about it being another Destiny (repetitive albeit good mechanics and a weak/non existent narrative) I'm certainly not going to be an early adopter.
@Neolit Far Cry 4 - Do you need the co-op trophies or the multiplayer ones?
Spent this weekend on Everybody's Gone To The Rapture as 7 odd quid was too cheap to ignore. Loved the story and the score especially. Just got 2 trophies left for the platinum. Also keep dipping in and out of MLB 14 The Show to get myself ready for this year's edition. Go Giants! It's an even year after all!!!

Re: Video: inFAMOUS: Second Son Lets You Pick Resolution or Framerate on PS4 Pro
@SKC_Diamond Thanks for that, it wasn't holding a high frame rate all the time but was surprised that uncapped was even an option.
